NSH is in the middle of a soft-rebuild right now and are not in the business of giving up assets to get veteran pieces who don't have a long term place on the team. Not only that, but Mantha would take up a spot that could be utilized by a young player NSH wants to play in for NHL experience, like Kemell or L'Heuruex. Just doesn't make sense for NSH, and with only one retention spot left, NSH would rather use that on a defenseman like Barrie at the deadline to get a strong return than what Mantha could give.
