MacK Extension
Have to prove it first. I'm using Jost as a benchmark for Newhook, and Byram (at this point) will be a bridge.

Exactly this. I like NAZ, but age is a big factor and with possibly the most important extension in Avs history on the horizon, not likely the Avs keep him around. Also, if we win the cup this year, he absolutely chases the money to a team in more of a rebuild phase.

Replacing Our Cap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>coga16</b></div><div>thats an awful deal. Why in the world would the Avs move Kadri and 2 solid assets for arguably a lateral move at 2C
Monahan has been torched by the fan base for the past 2 yeras for his inconsistent play and his compete level, especially in the playoffs.
Add in Monahans cap hit, that is just a bad deal for the Avs where cap is at a premium</div></div>
He's young, he can score, needs a fresh start, and, if you look over the team, his cap hit isn't bad. However, since you are just a complainer, and that' literally all you do on here, how about you come back with a solution - retained salary, add a pick, etc.

Just Playin Around
Washington needs to sign Ovei, their cap is a mess, and Gravy fills a hole left by Chara. Also, I can do without Kadri, never liked him and never liked the trade. Either he stays and finds a way to screw things up again, or we get "something" for him now while also freeing up cap space.

Taking Advantage of Teams Salary Woes
Wow, I didn't know so many front office execs play around on CapFriendly. So many "that trade isn't happening" without clarification. Feel free, you hockey guru's you, to elaborate, especially you Tampa guys, how are you going to address your cap issues? Also, love the scoop on "Detroit isn't a trade partner on Compher." I wasn't aware of that since it's not mentioned anywhere, but you got the scoop!

You don't know this. It will likely be kept close to this, but nothing has been said yet especially since the season isn't over and this won't be set in stone until the numbers come in.

I like the creativity. Does this goaltending get the avs a cup? And Landy and Sadd are likely underpaid, but you left plenty in the cap to address that - maybe another mil each.

It's tough to predict with the current state of the flat cap and with no sizable increase over the next few years.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>Maatta or De Haan can get traded as they certainly have positive value. However, let's play your scenario though and pretend neither are tradable; easy solution, the Hawks buyout Maatta and free up $3.3M more against the cap. Then they buyout Smith and free up another $2M against the cap. This is easy stuff to understand.
Crow has already been offered $3.5M for 1 year and speculated his agent and he will sign for 2 years at that cap hit.
We are not trading Saad for Jost, that is terrible deal and furthermore in this miscalculated scenario there is not a chance we give up Saad with retention and a 2nd for Murray. Saad is easily worth a 1st plus a 3rd or prospect at the TDL. Murray is not worth a 1st, 2nd and 3rd and not even close. Jost is laughable for Saad.
Lastly, if you guys want Saad, and his two way play would be a great fit for Colorado, it would be a big mistake to not play him in the top 6. He's a good player in the regular season but his game translates even better in the playoffs which makes him very valuable to teams headed for the playoffs at the TDL....Hawks know this.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bf3351</b></div><div>I think you have Saad mixed up with someone else.</div></div>

We are not trading Saad and a 2nd also with 1 million retained for Murray
Crow's is our starting goalie, and even if we were to get a new goalie there are better options on the market</div></div>
HA!!!! For Z and you retain $1mm!!! You woulda been better off with Jost.

I agree Avs will take #52 from Ottawa, no problem, or maybe a different late 2nd rounder from Ottawa. Does Toronto ever make a "good" trade? Avs will take advantage of them again just as they did last offseason. One thing is certain, Toronto will screw things up one way or another.

Blackhawks need to sign Strome, Kubalik, and a goalie with only $8mm. Do you think you can trade Maatta? Probably not. And what better FA goalie option that you can bridge? Saad has 1-year left on his over-priced contract. Oh, and Crawford is not your future in goal, and no one said a second-rounder since the pens are receiving the rights to Jost...

Don't believe Sakic, if he can get a solid, young, and healthy tendy for a decent price then he will. I agree that the return on Grub is off, but I would see prospects/futures or a 3rd team introduced. As for Edmunson, you're probably right, but I can see a very similar player signing.

Avalanche Offer-Sheet Stone
Not exactly how an offer sheet works. Between 6.15-8mm requires a 1st, 2nd and 3rd - more than 8 would get you 2 1st rounders, ect.. Other teams might offer more - but he's a player that's never played a full season and averages in the 50's in points, much like Landy. What's offered isn't unfair, but other teams might offer more.

I like the CBJ trade, but I'd remove Calvert to make it a little more realistic. No reason we should part with Landy, though it's hard to pass that up :). Also, big Z will not sign for under $2mm.
