Thanks, appreciate it. Typically most of the comments on here are bashing something you're just tossing out as an idea. Thanks again and have a good one!

Continuing the Rebuild Yzerman edition Dallas Fans
<strong>Detroit trades a 2nd this year and retains 1.25M in Helm's salary for a 2021 3rd round pick? Huh?</strong> They would just waive him and let another team take him rather than trade higher assets for lower ones. If that didn't work, they would bury the contact in the AHL and get $1,075,000 in salary cap relief until his contract is up and free up the roster spot. Also Helm's NTC may be voided between June 15, 2019 & 2019-20 NHL Trade deadline, if player is not in the Top 9 F in TOI, or if team does not qualify for the playoffs. The 2nd condition was met so Detroit can void his NTC on June 15, 2019.
Beyond that the Wings aren't buying out Justin Abdelkader (for at least 2 more years) as they have the cap space to keep him and re-sign their RFA's.
Rasmussen will be in the AHL as he needs more TOI and no longer has Jr transfer issues that kept him in the NHL last year. Svechnikov was on IR all last year so he gains another year of waiver exemptions meaning he'll be in the AHL too. Zadina might make the team out of camp, but it's probably a safer bet that he continues in the AHL and is the first call up for an injury to a forward.

Larkin, AA, Bert, Hronek are for sure. Can also consider Cholowski, Veleno, Zadina, Mantha, maybe Rasmussen, and whoever they select first round in the upcoming draft. Hirose also seems like he will be involved.

Trade with Carolina
I like the trade not sure if Carolina would like it. I do think Kronwall comes back for one year. If they were going to buyout Ericsson it would have happened a couple years back.
I don't care if they buy him out or just let him go same with Daley. Their cap hits are not important it the 2 roster spots I care about.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ristoeichel</b></div><div>I don’t think the Red Wings are that far behind Buffalo in the rebuild.
I love that they have three sound centers of the future with Larkin and Rasmussen, Veleno in the future and they have AA who can play the spot in a pinch.
What the Wings really need to do now IMO would be to add some more defenseman to their prospect pool and invest some firsts .
If they ever tried to deal with Buffalo, then I think Guhle, Samuelson, or Bryson should be of interest.
Overall I think the Wings are in a great position with their rebuild, Ken Holland has actually done a good job up to this point
My only pet peeve with them is I think at some point they will move on from Blashill and I don’t think it’s fair since he inherited a declining team.</div></div>

I disagree Detroit has a lot left to do in their rebuild. They have to rebuild their whole pipeline and it because we've traded away all our prospects and picks to win now. With Rassmunsen, Cholowski and now Hornek in Detroit That leaves Evgeny Svechnikov, Velano and maybe McIsaac and Lindstrom as real NHL talent. Sure we some other guys in the system but most of them are grinders and role players.
That's where Blashill comes in he still stuck in the old NHL when you had two talented lines and 2 lines of grinders and role players. The guys who work their ass of and do exactly what the coach tells them to. But the salary has forced NHL to change. Now you need good younger players on entry level contracts to stay competitive. The players that are ready to come up first are the more talented players and not the grinders and role players. So now the more successful teams have 3 talented lines and one grindline. Blashill hasn't figured it out yet or refuses to change and has 2 lines of grinders.
Ken Holland is better than average when it comes to drafting but not so much with player management. That could be because for the longest time the Wings had the win now mentality no matter how many picks or prospects get traded. Holland has been with the Wings way to long he played for the Wings both Adirondack and Detroit from 1983-1985. Then started as a scout in 1985 and moved up to GM. But he has lost overall perspective how else do you explain multiple contracts that are to high and just about everyone has a no trade clause. I can only hope Yzerman starts next season and hopefully he brings Quinnville with him.

Handover to Stevie Y
No reason to buyout E's contract when he only has one year left. Nyquist could get us a 1st round pick from a team desperate enough that can afford to move a pick AND could afford to re-sign in the off-season. Colorado comes to mind who has a couple extra picks and plenty of cap space to re-sign. Another team that comes to mind who'd be willing to part with a 1st rounder is buffalo since they have 3. They are somewhat shaky after that top line. Only difference is they'd most likely not be able to re-sign him. Howard could get moved but I dont see it happening unless we lower our price. Toronto could use a strong back up going into the playoffs with Freddy's injury history. But I don't see them willing to give up picks. Personally, I'd prefer Toronto prospects over their picks. Other than that, the only way he's being moved is if a contender's goalie gets hurt long term. Kind of like Philly's situation they were in last year when they acquired Mrazek.

Both can't play d, 7/8d. FLA wins cause the pick. Which is a lottery ticket that usually results in nothing. Nevertheless, the pick could ultimately pan out. EDM gets overpaid, temporary toughness, that they already have in spades.??

Yeah I like gus and a second maybe a late first from a team like Winnipeg or boston trying to load up but I don't think you get much more than that. If you move Howard get the best pick you can and thank him for all his hard work.

Its still early, but not yet clear that Anaheim will be in a position to add for a deep playoff run so they might not be looking to trade young players for a guy like Nyquist, but the value is fine.

Tatar could get more, and might as well retain $3M on Green - opens up the amount of potential trade partners and maximizes return. I think the Wings can wait a year or more to buy out Ericsson in order to save some money there too. Not like keeping him around is going to spoil their chance at a cup given the current situation.

No one said that Green was a 1D but he's clearly worth a 1st he has 13 points in 16 games almost a point per game definitely having his best season in Detroit so far. It's already widely reported that as many as 6 teams have inquired on Green pretty sure we will get a 1st for him.</div></div>
It says in his team explanation that’s hes a #1d haha</div></div>
Yeah we all know that he isn't a 1D and this coming from a diehard Mike Green fan right now he's our #4 D man that said he's a RHD which are always in demand same with John Carlson. Of all the potential D men available at the TDL Mike Green should fetch the most.

Doesn't matter if he's not worth a 1st. D-man are hard to come by and if the Wings are not in a playoff spot come trade deadline day, they will end up getting a first round pick for him.
