<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ristoeichel</b></div><div>I don’t think the Red Wings are that far behind Buffalo in the rebuild.

I love that they have three sound centers of the future with Larkin and Rasmussen, Veleno in the future and they have AA who can play the spot in a pinch.

What the Wings really need to do now IMO would be to add some more defenseman to their prospect pool and invest some firsts .

If they ever tried to deal with Buffalo, then I think Guhle, Samuelson, or Bryson should be of interest.

Overall I think the Wings are in a great position with their rebuild, Ken Holland has actually done a good job up to this point

My only pet peeve with them is I think at some point they will move on from Blashill and I don’t think it’s fair since he inherited a declining team.</div></div>

I disagree Detroit has a lot left to do in their rebuild. They have to rebuild their whole pipeline and it because we've traded away all our prospects and picks to win now. With Rassmunsen, Cholowski and now Hornek in Detroit That leaves Evgeny Svechnikov, Velano and maybe McIsaac and Lindstrom as real NHL talent. Sure we some other guys in the system but most of them are grinders and role players.

That's where Blashill comes in he still stuck in the old NHL when you had two talented lines and 2 lines of grinders and role players. The guys who work their ass of and do exactly what the coach tells them to. But the salary has forced NHL to change. Now you need good younger players on entry level contracts to stay competitive. The players that are ready to come up first are the more talented players and not the grinders and role players. So now the more successful teams have 3 talented lines and one grindline. Blashill hasn't figured it out yet or refuses to change and has 2 lines of grinders.

Ken Holland is better than average when it comes to drafting but not so much with player management. That could be because for the longest time the Wings had the win now mentality no matter how many picks or prospects get traded. Holland has been with the Wings way to long he played for the Wings both Adirondack and Detroit from 1983-1985. Then started as a scout in 1985 and moved up to GM. But he has lost overall perspective how else do you explain multiple contracts that are to high and just about everyone has a no trade clause. I can only hope Yzerman starts next season and hopefully he brings Quinnville with him.
