WPG CHI (Trouba)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Penjays66</b></div><div>Can CHI do this with Keith & Seabrook still on the books for the next 4-5 years at $5.5M - $6.8M? I think they would have to move one of those contracts or another big contract to help them make more cap room. Would the Jets ever think about maybe taking on Brandon Saad and letting Wheeler walk in free agency? Trouba, Petan, 1st ---> Hawks Saad, Schmaltz ---> Jets</div></div>
I think that's more of a reason for CHI to keep Boqvist, since he's team controlled for a while on an ELC. I think WPG would definitely consider taking Saad, who's much younger than Wheeler, and letting Wheeler walk.

OTT - Ryan and Duchene
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Latt_Mowery</b></div><div>Its pretty arguable that duchene is the better player of all three of them. so more than likely it would be a schmaltz and a 1st for him alone. down year or not.
just cause you keep adding a lot more "ok/mediocre" assets doesn't mean it adds up to about equal. OTT is gunna want less quantity and more quality for their star players.</div></div>
^this x1,000. Everyone keeps trying to make these trades happen with large collections of mediocre if not borderline crappy players. Not only will it never work, it becomes a blatantly obvious cap relief for Chicago, and every other GM knows it... While everyone else on here seems to ignore it.

I think he'll try to trade away Killorn/TJ/Callahan to try to sign him next summer.
As he's said before he won't tear holes in the roster (Sergachev, Point, etc.) to get Karlsson.

18-19
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Latt_Mowery</b></div><div>I dont think its enough, I really think MTL would get a better offer from another team. I seriously see the best CHI would offer MTL is Anisimov, 1st, and maybe a mid tier prospect. and want picks back with Patches. but I just think the HAWKS wont give a 1st since its not lookin real confident this is a for sure playoff team (they shouldnt deal the first untill a trade deadline deal, make sure they are in a good spot), and arnt really looking to give up anymore prospects. and some other team has more assets to offer that are probably more enticing than what the hawks are willing to part with.
at the end of the day i DONT see CHI landing Skinner, Faulk, or Patches.</div></div>
100% agreed. Every team is looking at the Duchene deal saying...MTL needs to get this, but no one realizes how HORRIBLE of a trade that was.

Other trade ideas - DET, CHI, MTL
I don't think the Hawks give up Dylan Sikura rn - it'd send a bad message to other NCAA players they drafted. Sikura had the option to go FA ala Kevin Hayes and trusted that the Hawks has his best interests / wanted him, so it would look pretty terrible if they traded him the summer he could have picked to go anywhere if he'd just waited a couple of months. The fact that they already have one NCAA guy who jumped ship, it wouldn't be a good idea to add to that, not when the Hawks draft heavily from NCAA candidates.
The actual idea is sound, though - rentals in the past have been 1st + top prospect. The Hawks don't really have any top 6 quality forward prospects but have a lot of defense that could project top 4. I don't think that's what Carolina wants, though, so I don't know if they're good trading partners. I'm not sure a team in transition will give up a 1st for rental ahead of the season either - more likely to happen at the TDL if the team was in a position to succeed.

That’s what I’m kind of hoping they’re going to go. I’m thinking Bellows/Wahlstrom 2019 1st and maybe some mid level prospect would be a nice return for them and help ease the pain slightly of losing their own first

i like how you add substance to the discussion instead of just "*****says no" or "***** decline", that type of input is useless and we see way to much of those garbage posts. If people can't add anything of value to the discussion they should just read and move along. Your posts have some though behind them. Thanks

Oh I totally agree. Wouldn’t make a trade just to move those guys if you can’t get close to fair value at least. Worst case flip then at deadline if team isn’t looking good.

Hurricanes Oilers trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Latt_Mowery</b></div><div>Interesting. I can kinda see it. the cap space for EDM would be tight for next year. but not CAR's problem and its potentially doable.
CAR would potentialy have the best Center depth in the league with this. and will all the D locked up for 3 years. this could be a pretty decent team. even if EDM said no, if you threw in a second or first for a sweetener theyd have a hard time saying no. especially with RNH going back to 2nd line center and suring up the D with faulk and getting a legit scoring winger for mcdavid to play with. and CAR getting a 1 2 punch with Necas and Draisaitl for the future. not too bad. especially with all the wingers around them.
not bad</div></div>
I really think this benefits both teams, especially if Oilers sign Skinner or Faulk to an extension. Oilers would be giving up 7 years of contract for 3 years in Faulk and Skinner, but they get a prospect to compensate. I'd add a 2nd round pick if Oilers need more, especially because Drai is locked up for his best years.
What's striking to me is how a top-6 center makes the Hurricanes suddenly look REALLY good, except for in net. And that's not likely a problem they can solve this year.

Agreed. I'm fairly realistic on what the habs can get for Patches, but this is maybe the worst trade by a landslide I've seen for him. The habs wouldn't give up their first alone for those two. Anisimov is a third line center and the habs already have a few of those.

Midnight 3 Way - CHI, CAR, MTL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mikemathis555</b></div><div>Not sure, but it involved 2018 picks and a deadline to sign an extension</div></div>
What he said. I think there was only 1 player/prospects and a bunch of picks involved going to MTL. But Patches had to sign an extension (and was offered 6x6). Patches refused the extension and the deal was over.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Latt_Mowery</b></div><div>Is there any word on what LA was offering for Patches? I thought I heard it involved Muzzin</div></div>
I read the exact opposite. It was something like nor Toffoli or Muzzin were involved in the deal. if I can find the link I'll post it.

What it would take to get Panarin Back
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Latt_Mowery</b></div><div>I know this doesn't fix any of the problems with defense. and you are basically banking on crow standing on his head again like at the beginning of last season. and hope the young guys in the bottom six can contribute to depth scoring and just help keep the puck out of the net. and you throwing a hail marry up there that the defense basically just takes a major step forward in their overall ability. You probably could get a lil bit more of a return from CBH but i just dont really know much of their prospects. i just picked one that has a pretty good AHL career.
but im pretty sure this is close to what it would take to land panarin.</div></div>
I agree with you, and thats why I don't think the hawks should be in on Panarin. DeBrincat scored 28 goals at 19. Panarin was 24 when he entered the league and scored 30. I know there's a whole different level of play that Panarin brings, but trading 19 year old 20+ goal scorers doesn't seem like a great idea. I think the hawks have to look at other ways to add scoring. (But they really need to fix the D core)
