Once that situation changed, then so did our mindset about keeping him around</div></div>
Big, tough, defensive, physical and nasty are the terms I've usually read described on here and elsewhere for what the Sabres need to add at RD. Young is the only part that doesn't fit with Manson, and finding all those attributes and young as well is a rarity these days. So yeah a young clone of Manson seems to be what most have had in mind.
As for Mittelstadt...don't try to wriggle out of it. Right up to the trade you were the most vehement denier on here of it being a possibility. Many of us agreed it was unlikely but none were so certain as you lol. I'd also like to see where you discovered he was offered a deal and turned it down as all indications I can find online are that he wasn't offered one.

So if u wanna go by what u see on here, that’s cool i guess
But I’m gonna stick with reality
We aren’t gonna give up a valuable pick for an old defenseman,
not unless it’s a “last resort” type move</div></div>
It's not being a clown to think you still need some grit and sandpaper even in today's game.
Same reality that Mitts doesn't get traded in and contract offers are made that there's no evidence for? I am so gonna laugh if Manson ends up in Buffalo now.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lenny54</b></div><div>I agree with you BUT if Manson still has enough in the tank and he is willing to waive to come here our first timeline is just to make the playoffs so it might be worth it since he would have 2 years of contract left. If it doesn't work I'm sure he can be traded at the TDL in that last year even if 50% is held. Now you would have two cup winners on the blueline.
Just finished watching his fight with Zadorov from the 13th...still has a bit of nastiness in him for throwing that extra punch when Z was down, something we need</div></div>
I suppose it’s a possibility Adams would do this,
but I’m also SURE he’d try to find younger guys first & something like this would be a fall back option

What’s is BUF timeline? Thompson is 26, Tuch is 28, Dahlin is on his second contract, Cozens the same, Byram too if I’m those guys I want to win now, right now.

Sabres
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lenny54</b></div><div>I agree but with only one year left on his contract and with a hefty raise coming the question is does he give Philly a hometown discount and if not does Philly want to invest long term on a 28 yo player?
In reverse would the Sabres want to invest 2 first round picks in what could be 1 year of Konecny? That would set the Sabres back in my opinion (again) if Konecny bolts after a year, to much of a gamble for the Sabres to take IMO.
Like the player but not the odds.</div></div>
it's almost a guarantee he gets an 8x8-9M offer on July 1 so I don't think the hometown discount in even a consideration

You're going to need to have some veteran leadership in there and Manson is probably the ideal candidate for what the Sabres need.

For kulich alone, a top 10 pick is fine, if we were looking for futures. That's kinda the point, after 13 years of missing the playoffs, trading for straight futures isn't gonna fly. Tuch as a power forward that plays both ways, on a cheap contract, he's not on the table.

Offensively, sure he'd be better. Makes sense because you get your shots and passes off faster and you don't need to reposition yourself for a one-timer. No chance Dahlin plays a better defensive game on the right side. He's already poor defensively, no chance he's better defending on his backhand.
I never said dman aren't capable of playing on their off-side, I just said they're not as good.

At one point Buffalo will need to choose whom they go with .You cannot expect to add Savoie ,Ostlund,Kulich ,Rosen ,24 1st to play in the same roster.
Buffalo already got the talent, now they need grit, defensive foward and leadership!!!</div></div>
We aren’t saying that every single prospect will make this team. We are saying there’s no reason to overpay when the other team wants your player more than you want theirs.

He plkays ES, PK and a bit of PP, brings leadership, physicality and 2 way play, I'd rate him as better than Greenway, but hes a 4th liner. (and Ostlund is still behind Kulich, Savoie and Rosen in BUF system, with alot of youth on the NHL roster, a full compliment of picks and the team needing to change its non playoff streak)</div></div>
Still an overpay. Just because we have lots of youth doesn't mean we overpay. No thanks

Gonna be interesting how he sets his 4th line up. Sabres have a plethora of prospects, he could really roll 4 lines of speed if he chose with they way they have drafted. Don't know if that's best, but he has to start using some of these assets

Where to go now
There a bunch of Perimeter Pu$$ies, talented but Soft. And they don't have the players needed to Compliment that style. They need a few Bangers who can Work the boards and go to the Net. Get a few guys not afraid to throw there weight and decent hands(Crouse, Trenin) and let them clean up in front. Put Crouse in front on our PP and watch how many rebounds he scoops. Even if they made the playoffs, they are not built for it.

Where to go now
Thompson has a lower body injury, wrist injury, and a broken thumb i think. They didnt shut him down. Tuch separated his shoulder in camp. They didnt shut him down. Skinner is definitely concussed, its like his 8th one. Then Cozens broke his face fighting hathaway, and then got in a fight with a staircase (not kidding look up the video). There's your shooting regression explained.
The PP is the coaches fault
They'll trade one of Samuelsson or Jokiharju for someone like Cates, Kotkaniemi, Nic Roy etc. Basically a really fast 3C who can chip and chase (aka beat the trap). At least one of the first rounders in the minors will make the jump to the NHL team too. If I were handicapping it id say:
1. Savoie
2. Kulich
3. Rosen
Levi becomes back up, that's the team for next year.

I think the last 20 games are gonna set up the summer. If they finish the year strong, I'm sure the "injuries, growing pains, learning new system, did I mention injuries-" speech is already typed out and ready to go. If they finish the year flailing, adams probably does have to make changes. I'm not foolish enough to think there's any real accountability, it just seems to be whatever they can get away with. I'm actually shocked at how many people buy what they are selling.

Rather use Samuelsson and keep Ryan Johnson if we could. Like Samuelsson but that 4.2mill could come in handy in a few years when Byram and Andersson could use contracts

Personally, I’d do the deal, as I’d still like a top4 RD
But our GM might also think Byram is “enough”

It’s a “maybe” imo
Andersson would still be a great fit,
but idk that we’d trade away a top10 pick
