overated yet somehow everyone wants to trade for him.
when a young guy gets a down year, he suddenly becomes overated and apparently you should be willing to trade him for a late first. People were saying the same thing about nylander and drai the year after they signed their contract too.

I thought the Nemec for Anderson trades would have dried up after Nemec has clearly shown himself to be much better and much more valuable than Josh Anderson in the NHL but I probably should not have underestimated the determination and perseverance of the Montreal Canadiens fanbase.

No no and NO
This is brutal for us. We aren’t trading a guy we just traded for along with a possible top 5 pick for a future pick

Perfect TDL and offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DH28Hockey</b></div><div>Couple of things I'll add to note:
-Like the one response said, Tippett has blossomed late but is a pretty safe bet to be a consistent 25-35 goal scorer at this point IMO, which is something I've seen Ducks fans say is a need. He's also on the bigger side and still pretty young w/ RFA control. The only reason I think Philly might move him is because Gauthier plays an incredibly similar game and they're already loaded at RW.
-I think Philly would be flexible with which 1st they move in a scenario where they have multiple. If their own ends up being top-15 I could see them being reluctant to move that, but I could see them make something work where the pick is closer to 18-23 range than the 27+ range
-I don't think claiming this as Philly getting their long term 1C is the right way to look at it. In this current lineup, I'd technically call Couturier the top Center in the organization, I put him at 2C here because he's shown time and time again that he can elevate his linemate's games and could potentially do wonders for both Tuomaala and Foerster. I also think internally there's hope that Gauthier can become as good if not better than Zegras long term. This would very much be a "Center depth by committee" sort of roster</div></div>
And thanks to you, not just my esteemed friend Gibby, for provoking an intelligent and courteous discussion.
Here's my thinking, FWIW:
1. I note that this is (sensibly) an off-season idea, not TDL move. Therefore, a great deal would depend upon whether Anaheim's own draft pick was first overall.
2. If Anaheim is looking at Mack Celebrini, then it's possible that Zegras becomes expendable. I still don't think the offer is enough, because we're essentially trading our #1LW for a #2RW plus a late first and future second, but I'll go along with GiggyWithGibby for purposes of this discussion. (Zegras for Gauthier and Tippett no picks is more my speed, but maybe I'm overboard.)
3. If Anaheim's pick ISN'T first overall, then I wouldn't be motivated towards this at all. Zegras - Carlsson - Terry plus McTavish and our 2024 first seems a lot stronger than Carlsson - Terry and McTavish - Tippett plus two 2024 firsts unless the later one is also earlier than #20.
I hope all my fellow Anaheim stalwarts chime in on this one!

I’m keeping Z myself here
I saw this when it was first posted and didn’t respond because I was a little torn but I’d need more from Tippet showing his goal scoring abilities for this trade
I think I’d rather sit on Z and have a possibly on drafting Cole Eiserman for our new sniper
I have also been messing around with looking at lineups with us trading for Brady Tkachuk

Post draft chat
Well, I certainly look like a prize idiot (not for the first time) after the Carlsson surprise because I spent the last two weeks fending off moronic Monteal trade-up scenarios by claiming that Fantilli was a generational talent. I hope that I'm only half wrong, and that Carlsson is, too.
Myatovic I don't understand because I'm convinced that he would still have been on the board at #59. I would have taken Ethan Gauthier at #33, Myatovic at #59, Riley Heidt at #60 and Koehn Ziemmer at #65. If we weren't going to trade up for Bjarnason or Hrabal, I don't see why we would take the 5th goalie prospect in the levee.
All in all, it's clear that I'm on an entirely different page from the scouting staff -- maybe even in a different volume. But maybe nothing could illustrate that better than the fact that I had Caden Price going to the Kings at #22 back when they still had a first-round draft pick, and they passed on him at #54 and again at #78.

Ziemmer is still on the board too, wonder why he is dropping so far.

Thing I've read about all the picks this far is they all flew up the rankings in the latter part of this past season, but THW didn't expect to see Clara off the board until the 6th round.

He was 56th on Bob McKenzie's list, so he probably would have been available at the #59 slot. I would much rather have selected Ethan Gauthier or, if we were going to choose a LW, Andrew Cristall.

Hearing the Ducks are leaning away from Fantilli
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lenny7</b></div><div>Meh. I'm 50/50. I want him over Carlsson for sure, but I'd prefer Fantilli. I have no issue waiting until 2026 for him to come over, but the idea that you have zero control over his development for the next 3 years isn't a good thing.
Whoever gets him will (likely) be happy, but I don't buy that he fits a need simply because he doesn't play center. If the Ducks take him, it better be because he's the best player available, not because of his position. Anaheim is in a place where the BPA should be chosen with every pick, regardless of position. Only spot that looks flush with talent is LD, which is a situation they've been in before when a combination of Larsson, Mahura, Guhle and Theodore were all young and inevitably didn't work out and/or were moved (I miss Shea Theodore...)</div></div>
Yeah giving up Theodore was a terrible decision by management.
I agree with you where the Ducks should be taking best player, and if you were able to have Michkov here tomorrow, you would be taking him in a heartbeat, so i would say the delay doesn't truly hurt them.
