Is Isles future banking on Sorokin and Whalstrom and Dobson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bgainesdm</b></div><div>Burakovsky was traded in 2019. That had nothing to do with Trotz.
Also, you guys don't need Schmidt. He's making too much AAV in a non-income taxed area and has a PED record.
Also, nobody was beating the Pens in 2016 and 2017.</div></div>
He was consistently benched and was on the 4th line w trotz. So was Vrana till an injury happened. We don’t need Schmidt? A top pairing dman? Yeah we do. Could have also signed him long term early. Capitals out shot the Penguins in most of those games. Capitals didn’t play their best line up bc of trotz arrogance

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bgainesdm</b></div><div>It does keep them on their toes though and makes them learn faster. I personally feel like right now, a healthy Ladd in this push was better than Bellows but barely. Koivula did get some games over a healthy Komarov earlier. If he feels you're ready, then your ready(ie. Toews).</div></div>
Toews was a few months short of his 25th birthday. I feel like trotz goes by age more than anything. If toews was 21 he wouldn’t have gotten the same shot IMO.
The thing is fans are led the believe that trotz plays guys like boychuk, kuhnackl , and komarov because they “play the right way” but boychuk was one of the worst even strength defenders in the league this season and out of 400 players who have played at least 200 min, kuhnhackl was the 2nd worst defensive forward. It makes me believe that trotz only cares about age, experience , and SC pedigree. Intangibles > skill is what trotz goes by.

Ullmark is good, Hutton isn’t. They need a capable 1A/B scenario, the ones listed are the sexy names. Maybe they sign Greiss though

My Top 10 GMs in the NHL
Lou didn't draft Rielly, Nylander, or Marner. He (along with Babcock) brought in a culture that was needed to turn the Leafs around, but his tenure as Leafs' GM was far from great.

My Top 10 GMs in the NHL
Lou gets so much credit for his time in TO that is completely undeserved. He drafted Matthews but Nylander and Marner were both drafted prior to his time there. It was Dubas and Mark Hunte handled those drafts. May have even been Nonis who drafted Nylander. Lou did however give Zaitsev his 7 year deal and gave Marleau 3 years at the age of 37. He since went to the Islanders where he lost Tavares to his replacement and has made several really poor long term moves. His best move in recent memory was landing Tortz, beyond that he's been not good.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hockeyconnor97</b></div><div>Holland should be on there for me at least from this year. Neal for lucic was a steal, the ennis and green trades cost pretty much nothing, AA was a good pickup, and he basically solved almost all of the oilers' problems (wingers, depth, defense kind of improved, goaltending was good) the only bad move he did was the kassian deal was too long but he should be top ten for this year, but it's understandable if it isn't solely based on this season</div></div>
It’s based off a combo of every year each GM has had. Recent success is definitely needed to be on my list tho. And while Holland has been great for the Oilers, the contracts he’s signed in Detroit keeps him off the list

I don't see how they could possibly expect a 1st in return, even if you add in Samorukov/Lagesson. The ask mid season was reportedly much lower than that (The ask when Ottawa was kicking tires was a 2nd and a young forward) and nobody wanted to do that. I don't see how the asking price could have possibly gone <strong>up</strong> from then to now.
If I post a car on craigslist for 8 grand, and nobody is interested, I'm not going to have any luck if I then post the same car for 11 grand.

from the rangers POV they really dont need another winger. While pool party has more upside, it is better to not sell low on lias and keep him. Rangers biggest question is in the center position.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mayb81</b></div><div>I’m not sure, personally I think because Puljujärvi has more NHL experience, slightly exceeding a times, and that he is a bit more highly touted as a prospect makes him a worth just a bit more than Anderson.</div></div>
He certainly has more "opportunity". 1700+ NHL mins, all he has to show for it is 7 NHL points without contributions from McDavid/Drai/Nuge....
Andersson has 7 NHL points in under 700 NHL mins and none of those have a single contribution from anyone who has ever had 60 points.
Andersson has done the same as Puljujarvi with SIGNIFICANTLY less in terms of teammates, and ice time. They just matched point/gm rates in Europe this year.
Frankly given the dead even production some might give the nod to Andersson because he's a superior defender and a C. But because of Puljujarvi's higher (though seemingly more distant) ceiling, it's even.

HAHA. Of course I would love that, but come on, Smith is the final year of his deal with a $3.335M salary. Realistically, I don't even believe NYR gives up a 2nd and a 3rd for another team to take him.

Not really. Puljujarvi's upside is much more than Athanasiou. Holland is smart for not doing that deal

The coaches and FO like Strome, but with DeAngelo needing a contract and they keep flirting with extending Kreider, Strome will have to go in that scenario. I think the ask would be a younger near-nhl ready forward; maybe Benson or Lavoie and possibly a pick.
The coach hates Buch and I wouldn’t be surprised if he is eventually run out of town. He’s more cost controlled than Strome and probably considered a higher ceiling player, so the ask might be similar or possibly more than it is for Strome.
In any case, they are very much available, however to the dismay of most of us fans, Buch is probably more likely to be moved than Strome.</div></div>
I wouldn't necessarily say that DQ hates Buch due to the fact that for the most part he has kept him on the top line for most of the season when he could have been tempted to throw Kakko there one time.

If you're a bad sportsman and attack everyone around you from opponents to teammates to refs then you need you're ass suspended 1 year without pay and they're not allowed to play anywhere else

The dude had issues years ago. He's been a positive lockerroom presence this year and is showing he has elite offensive talent, from the right side no less. I lot of people dont like him because he's a huge Trump supporter and he plays in a liberal city like Manhattan, but management, real fans, and teammates couldn't care less if he's putting up 60+ pts a season. Seriously tho, when was the last time you heard anything about him and his "maturity issues"?
