Every team declines, especially the Avs. You aren’t even remotely close. You can take out Foudy and the 1st and it’s still an instant no.

Draft and Summer 2022
I mean it’s a fan site, but how huge of a homer do you have to be to think a Stanley cup contender trades a 24yr old top 4 dman locked up long term for an older, more expensive, less productive winger, a back up goalie, and a 2nd rd pick AND the Avs are throwing in a 1st and a prospect too? I mean that’s fantasy land stuff. MTL could make it a 2023 1st Drouin and Allen and that package still doesn’t get Girard.

19 CGY 88 COL
COL should stay far away from Kane. Rantanen plays the same role (and is better) so Kane would be stuck in a 2nd line & probably 2nd PP role (he plays the same half wall as Rantanen on the PP) while dragging down his line defensively. Not to mention the acquisition cost is way too high (based on his name and career rather than who he is now as a player)

He is going where he wants
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>He doesn't control it. Theoretically, the team could just hang on to him. If the return isn't what Philly wants, they could just not move him. If he's presented with a choice of a city like New York, not one that he openly wants, and he's given the choice Rangers or stay, that NMC becomes kind of pointless. He can't force his way to Colorado is my point.
Yes, he likely ends up in Colorado, but the NMC doesn't have anything to do with not getting enough of a return, that's just incompetent management.</div></div>
There is enough respect between Giroux and the Organization to work with him to get him to his preferred destination. Philadelphia might get shafted in the return if Giroux only says he wants to go to one team, but even if that deal is the return, it's still worth it for Philadelphia to get something then have him on the team wasting away.

Overpaying here imo. Take out one of Behrens or Kaut. Preferably Behrens. Compher is better and younger than Clutterbuck. The Jarnkrok trade is ok.

Blow it up and get draft picks

Let me explain it to you like a 2 yr old. There is no way the Avs trade Newhook. MacKinnon, Makar, Mikko, Toews, Byram, and Newhook completely untouchable. And on what planet does a team trade a 1st, their top d prospect and their current 3C and future 2C for a 34yr old rental. Fast hard easy no, because the Avs don’t need a top 6 forward, they are the leading scoring team in the NHL, and their areas of improvement are pk, depth d, and goal tending and last I checked Giroux doesn’t do any of those. It’s a ridiculous trade that literally the Avs laugh at.

Giroux just doesnt have that type of value as a rental. A 1st and a prospect yet...not a young player like newhook who is making an impact as a 3c on a cup contending team

What are you smoking? Giroux retained doesn’t get you Newhook straight up. That nonsensical trade is on par with what BUF got for Eichel. Such a hard no.

Anderson to the avs

Jeff skinner Josh. Bailey pageau etc and the list goes on and on seems like you r not up to speed on how nhlers are getting g paid now 5 million is about the right price for a 50 point winger that’s about the standard right now and will only continue in that trend moving forward. 30 goal scorers 60 point guys usually 6 mil + and the same for 70 point 7 mil + and so forth that’s basically the nhl pay scale now you can find some outliers yo that but the are one offs or having an odd great or and odd bad year</div></div>
just because there are worse contracts doesnt mean that andersons is remotly good. And i am very aware of how NHL players are paid, 5 mill gets you a 50 point winger, but Anderson literally has never had 50 points. The guy has one season with more than 30 and he is at the age where players, especially physical ones who rely on skating start to decline. His contract is bad for a team that has cap space to play with. Colorado is not such a team

so many people dont understand that there is a salary cap and when looking at trades, you can judge them solely on the value out of a player at a lesser hit.
Andersen hasn't even been an offensive upgrade over JT compher the past 3 years, while Compher PKs and can play C...Andersen hasn't played a lick of the PK. He is getting paid like a high end 2nd liner to produce bc hes not very good defensively but he produces at a 3rd line rate. That is not 5.5m worth
Compher is not a special player. but he does what Andersen does offensively for 2m cheaper, while playing the PK and on the 2nd unit PP. You get more mileage in the player at 3.5m vs 5.5m. Andersen hits more and is a better skater....yeah that isnt 2m worth investing in more of

Giroux
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xqb15a</b></div><div>This is the comment that makes me crazy. The Avs are making a run at the cup regardless if Giroux joins them, and then even if he did he is what the 8th or 9th most important player at best and yes I will list them Kuemper, MacKinnon, Makar, Mikko, Toews, Kadri, Landeskog, Girard.</div></div>
Okay so replace kuemper with grubauer and everyone in that list was on the team the last couple years... we lost to Vegas, we lost depth in PEB and Saad, sure byram is better than graves... but vegas got better, they added a legit star to their team and downgraded from MAF to lehner... we lost grubs (vesina runner up) for kuemper who I believe is better but sure isn't playing like it... now can this team beat the Vegas team that shut them down last year? Absolutely smothered Mack's line... it's definately going to help if they have a legit 2nd line, kadri in the lineup with a star player like giroux or pavelski can only help with depth...
The idea is to go into the playoffs with the best possible chance to win the cup, not I think we can go with what we have because maybe this year is different than the last 3
