Straight across JTC/Frankie for Allen/Andersen this trade is not an upgrade for the Avs let alone adding the Av's best two non-nhl currently playing prospects. You are right, there are a lot of extras that go into trades other than just the stats. But you are showing your lack of "hockey understanding" if you think that this trade is even close to good for a contending team. Let's take that back and just say the Avs. It creates a higher cap hit for equal to less production. Not a plus. With as many over paid boat anchor contracts MTL has this should be a concept this fan base can understand. Rolls created by trade - 5 on5 and PP may improve, but looking at numbers which also do have meaning, that may or may not happen. BUT this does happen - they lose PK and positional versatility hit (JTC is a swiss army knife and slots top to bottom, effectively, wouldn't want to ride him for the season at 1 or 2C/wings, but if I remember right we went pretty close to undefeated during the stretch with Mack out.) Takes two welcomed and liked long term faces out of the locker room and replaces them with two new ones. There's that chemistry part that was mentioned, it just took a hit also. I know the argument is he has a higher ceiling and the what ifs... but at 27 that ceiling is pretty much set and it is not as high as we the fans would have hoped for him. But like Carey, if you over pay em... YOU gotta keep em.
In the end, the avs are over paying JTC to do what he does. Andersen would replace JTC. JTC is and has been better over the last few years. Joe says "I have an idea lets pay more for less." NO. And add... and they call us "mile high"
