Brady to Jersey
Hawks decline. Makes no sense to trade Kurashev coming off a breakout season to fill the opening on 3rd pair RD.

Perfect Draft Partner
LOL at Sens fans NOT doing this IMMEDIATELY. That Hawks '25 first is lottery and best case scenerio in the 5-10 range. Hawks are WAY more likely to be picking in the top 5 than they are out side the top 10.
Hawks never consider this. Fair value for #10 OA would be #20OA + #34OA with a small kicker like #62 which would still be an overpay on most pick value charts.
AND for giggles...the '25 draft appears to be much closer to last years in terms of the quantity of quality in the top dozen or so picks.

Serious offer to move up to 2 Chicago
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>Demidov is heads and shoulders above any other forward prospect. He's a half step behind Celebrini, with the only reason he is grouped with others below him being the russian factor and some size concern. However, if Demidov comes over a year from this summer, which I believe he will, he will be an all-star level player. Lindstrom, Catton, etc. as of now do not have the ceiling of demidov. Because the Hawks need a RW badly, can't seem them not taking Demidov aside from possibly taking Levshunov if the Hawks feel that strongly about him and filling another need at RHD.</div></div>
I agree Demidov is one of the most gifted players in the past few drafts, scoring at a higher pace than Kucherov, Kaprizov, and Michkov in their draft years. I also believe Trevor Connelly may be just about as gifted but whoever drafts him is going to have to navigate a ton of well deserved negative press. For me Demidov is the best talent outside of Celebrini but maybe Chicago's FO found red flags we don't know, or maybe they fell in love with someone else.

Major trades and signings
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LivingAnew</b></div><div>On top of all that, Hawksguy, if they Hawks get an "acceptable" number (whatever that'd be) on a long-term deal with Marner, is he the one who'll help take the Hawks to the promised land? Based on how he's done in all the playoff games/rounds with the Leafs thus far, I seriously question his ability/desire to do that.</div></div>
He was crap this year in the playoffs for sure. But look at his history. He's a point per game player over his career in the post season. The Leafs playoff failures are rooted in poor goaltending and a bad defensive scheme. Your strategy in the post season can't be to just outscore your opponent. That core 4 in Toronto gets a lot of undo criticism (especially on this site) for the Leafs playoff failures. Marner is an elite level offensive player and a Selke caliber defensive F. I'll take that all day, every day on Bedard's RW.

Sure. That makes some sense. But unless he's locked up for certain, and he decides to become a UFA, Chicago gains nothing from this trade. What if his ask is 13 or 14 million and the Hawks don't want to pay that? Nope. It's far too risky a move for the Hawks to make.

Sabres
I really just don't want Skinner almost regardless of the price the Hawks are getting. That 3rd year is an absolute crusher. We can take 2 year deals all day long, but 3 is too much. I'm much more in favor of Anders Lee and JGP. They also provide more leadership and the meat/potatoes work for a 200' game.

I think the Hawks have to consider this proposal, while Demidov is an intriguing prospect there some concerns about his skating and level of competition he played against.
Picking at 5 Chicago would still get a very solid prospect, Levshunov, Lindstrom, Silayev or perhaps a very underrated (in my opinion) Catton. On top of that two additional 1sts and a couple of young players who could be pieces in the puzzle for the long haul.

That's a VERY strong offer. If the Hawks are locked in on Demidov, they probably just take him. If they aren't sold on Demidov, then the Hawks would be foolish not to consider this.

What it takes to move UP to 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ste_Catherine_Street</b></div><div>no, not 9th OA. that CGY pick is next year.</div></div>
Right... I just saw CGY 1st and then glanced at the draft order really quick. Didn't realize you were talking about a 2025 pick. My bad.
Well, that changes things significantly, especially with all the conditions on the CGY pick. It could actually be amazing if that pick slides to 2026 unprotected and CGY is still in rebuild mode but it's risky. I guess it depends on what players are coming to CHI in the deal. Unlike some CHI fans, I have ZERO interest in Barron, and as I've already said I don't have much interest in Arber. Some players I think CHI would be interested in are Reinbacher, Mesar, Hutson, Beck, Florian Xhekaj, Roy, and Pitlick.

I would be inclined to accept this offer. I would ask to swap out Roy for Beck and would prefer the Winnipeg 1st this year (mainly cause that Calgary pick has so many conditions on it that it may defer another year). I could live with either the Calgary pick OR the Montreal pick in '25 with like top 10 protection on the Montreal pick....biggest thing being the Hawks more likely end up with a pick instead it pushed to '26.
Ideal for me is #2 for #5, Roy, Barron, Winnipeg pick. You end up with NHL ready RW and RHD which are the two biggest holes in the Hawk prospect pool. Roy is a real nice compliment to the current Hawk prospect poolof forwards (and so is Beck for that matter). #5 should give you a choice of Biuim or Parkeh which is more of the ingredient the Hawk D pool needs...a PP1 option. Winnipeg pick, Tampa, pick and 3 2nds means we can get back even into the top 10 if we want and easilyinto the 12-15 range where I think the next level of forward are going to come off the board.
I like Demidov quite a bit, but something like this would be too hard to pass up for me.

In a draft where picks 2-6 are a crap shoot, you're way overpaying for that #2 pick. Provided Chicago's FO hasn't fallen in love with a prospect they'd be stupid not to accept. The way I see it, one of Demidov or Lindstrom is still available at #5.

That is a big no. I at least used the website/chart the GMs use in quantifying a draft pick and it came out nearly exact meaning this trade is even as it is. I’m not replacing the #33OA with a high end prospect in Rinzel. Rinzel was picked #25 and he’s looking like a steal with top 4 potential.

There is absolutely no chance the Hawks agree to take Skinner and his three remaining seasons at $9m per for the sole benefit of a 2nd round pick.

Realistic Marner trade
There's nothing realistic about Marner earning $12M in Anaheim.
Mitch has shown his true colors. He's a support piece, not the guy you build around, he's a perimeter player who won't change his game when it's not working in the playoffs, and he thinks he's a god, that's the last player to bring into a young locker room.

Chicago wouldn't even remotely consider this if you included your 2025 1st and 2026 1st. Vlasic was the 2nd best defensive dman in the d zone in the entire league this past season as a rookie, playing first line minutes, and against the oppositions toughest assignments along with the PK. Guys like Vlasic are very hard to find.

Get Grit trade pick
Even if Dickinson and Buium would project better than Vlasic, it would not fit our timeline better. I can't imagine that would send a great message to Bedard to say that "hey we developed this guy who is massive and has the potential to be one of the better defensive defensemen in the league but we traded him for 10 OA so we can stay bad for another couple years."
BTW i'm gonna need you guys to be good next year. I was planning on whipping out my Jack Hughes jersey this spring and am very disappointed to not be doing so!

Marner Machinations
CHI would probably welcome the chance to get out from the long-term commitment to Seth. At least I would! But retention is a non-starter, nobody's tying up a retention slot for that long.
TOR fans should probably accept that Marner's real value is to a contender. To trade a guy expecting a massive extension to a rebuilding team...the return is gonna be underwhelming.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ginandtacos</b></div><div>In my mind it's a win to swap one guy with a massive contract for another guy with a massive contract with 7 years left on it.
CHI is probably not a smart long-term fit for Marner but if taking him allows CHI to 1) dump Seth Jones and 2) get some kind of 2024-25 deadline haul for Marner, I say that's two wins.
Yes I'm very negative on Seth J. but he's already overpaid for "meh" performance and in 3-4 years it's gonna be one of the worst contracts in hockey.</div></div>
Honestly, that is fair. I think if we can move jones for positive value and he is willing to do it, it should be a consideration. But, Marner would have to sign off on the entire plan ahead of any sort of trade. He would have to be willing to be a rental and waive at the deadline. Otherwise, we would be giving Jones away for nothing. Which should not be an option, and would be completely unnecessary.
