Kid Line
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>Benning would be a good option. I highly doubt Tippett will PB Russell, all the coaches he's played for love him. He was 45th in TOI/gp at 5v5 last year - that's essentially a 1st pairing number. That displays a high level of trust, it does not spell "liability". TIppett will probably start Russell on the 3rd pair though, and move him up as necessary.</div></div>
his icetime may not spell liabilty but his results spell AHL player... would rather him not on the roster

Pominville won't cost more than about $1M; Persson won't start in the top-4.</div></div>
the other option for me is benning because having russell in the lineup is a liability. i didnt know what to give pommiville because who knows why a 36 year old would sign here. probably dont disagree about the kid line but i think it would be a good line

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>swinny</b></div><div>1. That kind of money for a bottom pair defenseman os what has Edmonton in a cap bind in the first place. It's a total ChiaPet move. Terrible idea.
2. Gardiner wants to go back to Toronto, but realistically that ship went down faster than the Edmund Fitzgerald with that Kadri deal.
3. If Gardiner ends up anywhere, my money is either Vancouver or Montréal. Some clear fits there. Honourable mention to Jersey..... cuz Gardiner and Scooby-Doo would be awefully effin fun to watch playing together.</div></div>
hes not a bottom pairing defenseman. just because hes on the third pairing here doesnt mean the minutes will be distributed in a way that would see him playing 12mins a night. hed be on PP1 and that pair would be getting the same mins as the second pair, with the top pair playing the tougher matchups with slightly more mins. Think roughly 22mins - 19mins - 19mins

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgfresh78</b></div><div>I feel like offering Andersson is too much. Knowing how Edmonton is Kreids, DeAngelo, and a draft pick of some sort likely gets it done.</div></div>
what reason would edmonton have to make that trade tho? dont need another bottom pairing RHD and sacrificing a 2C/1LW for a top 6 winger is ridiculous. the trade proposed is pretty fair and it might make the oilers budge.

Moving some bad deals
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeterChiarelli</b></div><div>Pysyk for Russell is a near fair swap as is. No need to include a second. Add a low prospect or Hawkey - whom Edmonton is unlikely to sign at this point - and call it a day.
I doubt the Sens are giving up anything north of a 4th Round Pick for Gagner, and I think Tampa will see better offers, or offers that allow them to keep TJ.
Eberle is likely not making less than $5M this summer.</div></div>
I think the Tampa deal makes a lot of sense for them because Yamamoto is the kind of guy who would absolutely flourish there. He'd be getting sheltered match up but with their depth he'd be playing with really good players too. He's also cheap af and not likely to command too much next year unless he's a god
Pysyk is a far better player than Russell and if Florida made that trade they'd be nuts (I just think they're the stupid type that would do it)
Eberle had ~40pts last year playing in the top 6 and is 29. He doesn't bring much else to the table so I can't see him making that much more than I gave here

Interesting maybe thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ricochetii</b></div><div>If I'm overestimating Nurse, then he isn't worth Ehlers.
If you trade him you'll regret it within 2 years. All he needs is to stop fighting and get a legitimate top pairing RHD to partner with.
Nuge isn't worth more than Ehlers and if he is, the difference isn't significant and his shorter contract negates it anyway.
RNH: 8 seasons, 3 20+ goal seasons, 1 60+ point season.
Ehlers: 4 seasons, 3 straight 20+ goal seasons, 2 60+ point seasons.</div></div>
last season:
ehlers: 37pts
Nuge: 69pts
Nuge plays centre, tougher minutes and with worse teammates. hes far more valuable

Interesting maybe thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ricochetii</b></div><div>8th overall is about what it would take to dump Lucic, free and clear. You might get Chlapik in return if they've completely given up on him.
Russell and a 3rd for a 2nd might work for a team desperate for a 3rd pair LHD, but one looking for depth to contend and you'll probably have to retain or more likely take a player in the $2M+ range back, in order to balance the contracts.
Value wise, I wouldn't say it is outlandish, but it's far from "an offer too good to refuse", as you suggest.
Nurse is the one D the Oilers can't consider moving. Nuge for Ehlers might benefit both teams if Winnipeg decides to shuffle some pieces though.
You'd be lucky if you could give Gagner away. For a player to go through 7 teams and trips to the minors in a span of 6 years, there's an issue somewhere.</div></div>
your evaluation of nurse is really overestimating his skill set. winnipeg could use some help on the left side on defense and cap relief to sign their RFA's. Nuge is far too valuable and a much better hockey player to be traded for ehlers.

there's an 8th overall pick going back to them. since they can easily afford them theyd be incredibly stupid
