Taylor Hall babyyyy
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>At this point with the Oilers falling down the standings and massive holes in their depth, don't you think it would make more sense to sell off some assets and hope to come back with a younger, faster and better depth on the team next season? Edmonton isn't a good team. They have the best line in hockey and nothing else. They are getting caved in at 5v5, Smith is terrible and the only reason they are in a playoff spots is because for the first quarter of the season, they had 2 goalies playing way better than they can. Now as they are falling back to earth, they are on the verge of falling out of the playoffs entirely. Slapping a bandaid on this squad at the expense of the future seems about as dumb as anything Chiarelli has ever done.</div></div>
yknow what might help the oilers stop being a one line team that cant score at 5v5? taylor hall (and getting rid of russell). instead of missing the playoffs again, having attendance dip again and having everyone misrable, try and finally add a piece thats been missing forever.

I agree that Cirelli should be a good addition. No idea what the right price is, but I do think he's a good target. And he's the same age as McDavid, so he fits right into the core.</div></div>
oh yeah, i dont see any good reason tampa gets rid of him unless theyre insanely cap strapped (they will be) and cant move anyone else.

i mean minni also fired their gm like a week after that so id hesitate to call that a comparable...

Special teams is the main reason why the team is doing so well this year, don't throw out the guys that are doing the trench work to make the PK great.</div></div>
yknow what, thats a really good point and sometimes i forget that 5v5 rates and such are great until your special teams get slapped. id be open to keeping sheahan as the 4c and one of archibald bc he'll be cheaper than khaira. id have cirelli killing penalties for sure though.

As well as a NMC. And even with that offer, Hall might chose to sign with another team over EDM because of the drama of once already being traded by EDM.</div></div>
well i guess we'll just see what happens. i dont really see anyone giving him $10M for 7 years, an intelligent GM wouldnt sign him longer than 5 years. on a 7 year deal i dont think he should make more than 7.5 if im being honest, he is going to decline fast and hard

And why in the world would we send Chiasson down when we could exile Gagner?</div></div>
because chiasson isnt very good??
you trade contract for contract to maintain flexibility... cave is not going to be a contributer on this team but hosang could be, he was really effective last year in very limited mins

if he wants stability you're right, if he wanted a chance to get the same term at 6M AAV he wouldve signed on a team where hed get 1PP time on a 1yr deal

In other words, his results aren't worse than his teammates' results are. I don't think it's fair to lay the blame at Russell's feet for the Oilers woes. He's clearly an NHL defenseman and a veteran, I don't see Tippett PBing him unless the youngsters are way, way better than I'm projecting, which would be a very good thing indeed!</div></div>
his relative stats are in the negative so they are worse than his teammates
