I actually think the Habs should make this trade for Price, Chiarot and maybe another piece.
And ya Bouchard playing 20 minutes a game on an entry level deal is so not garbage!

They are never giving up bouchard. And if you are MIKKO KOSKINEN #19 why would you waive your no trade clause to go to montreal when you have a chance to win a cup as starter in edmonton.

Danualt in contract year wants like 7 million (at least 6) for 7 years. With Kot and suziki do they want to pay that going forward. or try to win the cup in the next 2-3 years with kopitar a stud. yes 6.8 million cap hit for 3 years (10 million) but price and weber aging, worth going for it imo. can structure suziki / kot next contracts in a way they go up after 3 years.

Danualt's line is plus points versus the best lines in hockey over last few years.
The question really is can the Canadians afford to pay the best 3rd line center in the league (once kot and suizki develop) 6 million a year going forward. Habs offered 5 million and danualt said no.

Well I disagree with the nowhere close to that...but mostly I was just trying to point out what the heck does Tampa Bay do now? 2 or 3 years with arguably the best team on paper and almost nothing to show for it and except for Brayden point really only getting older and moving deeper into salary cap hell.

Half a joke, I just cant imagine what Tampa Bay is thinking right now....and let's be honest Steven hasn't stepped up....so Steven has a no trade clause but at some point you must just want to get out of dodge....I am sure Montreal would throw in some picks...and Gallagher might energize a team that never seems to rise to the occasion and yes I get CBJ are a sick good team and Hedmen was not himself do to concussion. How High and Drunk is Drouin right now celebrating the CBJ lead! :)

Last I checked Weber does not have a no-trade clause, but that speaks to how untrade-able his contract really is that you thought he had a no trade clause.
Players say they don't want to play here or there, and then when they realize only their home team can offer an extra year (and more money) they change their mind.
You have OEL, maybe Dahlin if you get lucky, a #2 centre, cap space, and all of sudden Montreal looks like a good place to play centre.
If not Tavares take a run at Karlson or Doughty in free agency next year.

Montreal gets cap space to sign Tavares or whoever.
They get Domi who is like a #2 centre.
Arizona probably gets a #1 pick.
Weber, Shaw and Pacman are all trade-able assets if needed.
Weber's contract in real dollars is on a steep decline. Arizona does not care at all about the caphit.
Weber is not a type of player who will sit out to demand a trade.
Hard not to point out some people say Montreal is giving away too much, others say Arizona is giving away too much.

ROR seems like the best p4p C (age, skill, contract/term) available IMO. Even if they do go through a rebuild, they'll need 1 good C. Drouin is a complimentary player to a superstar/elite center, which we don't have.
I'm not sure what youre implying about Byron...Why trade him? Am I expecting too much with a 2nd rnder? Am I not asking enough?
Weber won't get you Nylander. Either way I want Webber around to keep the young kids in line after Pacioretty's gone</div></div>
I think Weber would get Nylander, only thing stopping it is TO cap hell.
I think you could get a second for Byron but he is already good value so what are you hoping to accomplish? Keeping in mind you have 3 2nd already I think.

Pacman to Jets makes more sense to me.
L.A. needs to keep their pick to help with cap problems but Pacman for depth center , Valardi, and Gaborik might make sense.

Montreal - 2018/19 Retool Keeping Price and Webber
The Alzner, K. trade made me laugh. Not because Alzner is great but it made me realize that Alzner's contract might be the worst in the NHL if a team won't even give up a 2nd for him, and a team that really needs D help.
God what is M.B. suppose to do with that contract....if he takes back 50% of the contract he just looks so stupid for signing it in the first place.
Trade him to Arizona to help them reach the salary floor? Trade him back to Washington take back 50% but in a multi-player deal and sell it as the price to pay for getting the other player in the deal.

I like the Pacman for Fowler trade. Seems good for both teams. I do think you need to include another low cost player that the Ducks want to help them with cap problems going forward...maybe Byron at 1million or Nic Deslauriers, or Sherback? It is a high price, but Montreal is going to lose any trade they make being in such a weak bargaining position, and it solves ALOT of problems going forward without giving up their 1st pick.
This helps Montreal attract a high end Free agent centre which is a must imo.
I will say this is a trade I think M.B. should make but won't. He over values all his players.
I don't hate Price for Allen in theory but Price is just never waving his no trade clause to move to St. Louis (not a knock on St. Louis but just not happening)

Thomas and Valardi is a good start.
Price is never waving his no trade clause. If he wins he is a saviour, if he losses it isn't his fault.
Why trade Byron for a 2nd?
Drouin has more upside going forward, I would have traded for Reilly the last time he was available.
And why no Weber for Nylander trade?

If I am the Jets I don't pay that price for Gallagher. Not sure who else they want that makes sense. Honestly if you want to throw a 2nd round pick to the Jets that might work.
And J.T. is not coming to Montreal without the huge hole on LD fixed first. Same with any True #1C.

weber for nylander
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Now you're just making stuff up to prove a point. Of course we are talking cap hit, not real dollars. Leafs management front loads a lot of contracts so it easier to off load them. That is still a lousy trade for the Leafs. Why don't you try to trade Weber to another team and you would get the same reaction. Nylander stinks for Leafs. Ehlers for Weber won't fly and the list goes on.
And your GAA facts....Leafs are 13th in GAA. Playoff teams that are worse.....Ducks, Wild (are they in) Devils, Washington, Flyers (are they in). Pittsburg. Certainly not one as you suggested.
The biggest question is if Weber is truly such good value for Montreal why are their fans so desperate to trade him (especially to the Leafs)? After this season, Weber has eight full years left on his contract. If Weber and is sooooooo good, the Habs should keep him so they can have his services when they are playoff contenders again. Nylander the second best forward on the Leafs and still on a ELC, what a joke to think the Leafs would trade him for Weber.</div></div>
So I used total GA and you used GA per game but whatever you know they are still bad.
a toss up between the Ducks and Wild, and flyers and islanders...
And really why the trade..., Weber is still good...but the whole NHL knows Montreal needs a #1 centre and to rebuild.
I actually don't think M.B. would ever make this trade but I would. M.B. can't really trade Weber after giving him up for Suban, arguably the best NHL Defensemen in the league. If you want to say Karlsson who is having an off year or Doughty I won't argue.

weber for nylander
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Leafs have no interest in taking on bad term contracts, and in Carr's and Alzner's case who is he going to beat out on the roster.</div></div>
Carr is a useful body in a long play-off run. He is like the only player on the Habs who is willing to stand in front of the net. Sure he might sit on the bench until someone gets hurt but at 750k he is cheap depth and an RFA (Trade-able asset down the road)
I admit I am not an expert on the leafs but Alzner at 50% at worst is a trade-able asset but he doesn't even need to be part of the deal. Leave him out if you don't want the body.
Weber at 8 million is sure a Questionable contract.
Just looked it up. Weber's actual Salary going forward....this year 12, 6, 6, 6, 6, 3, 1,1,1 ........Sure the cap hit is 7.8 .
So Montreal Takes 50% of Salary so they can take 50% of caphit....6,3,3,3,3,1.5,0.5,0.5,0.5 .....4 million cap hit.
Maybe TO can squeeze Weber contract in without trading away Jake Gardiner....(keeping in mind they trade Leo k at 3million)....my guess is it is not enough salary but i could be wrong.
I do know Toronto is the worst team in goals against that is going to make the Playoffs except Pittsburg and/ or NY Islanders (only one will probably make it).
And top 10 in g.a. read like the real contenders.

Secondly This is very bad for the Leafs... wouldn't do Nylander for Weber 1 for 1 let alone Gardiner for Alzner++ lol...</div></div>
I didn't know about the retain of Salary for whole contract, so 2 million of Weber for the term.
Obviously Gardiner is better then Alzner...it is Gardiner for (Alzner + cap room) or else you can't make the trade. All the other players have NTC and no one is agreeing to move to Montreal! :)
Make it David Schlemlko if you want, but somehow Toronto needs a # 2 or 3 LD to TRY to replace Jake G.
I wouldn't make this trade but I think Babcock might. Obviously Weber's biggest fan, and whether it is Weber or another D you have to ship some soon to be expensive forward talent for D at some point.
