eh. It wasn't much, but apparently Chiarot injured Raymond in practice last year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>Hedman actually signed a pretty fair deal for the time as this was before the year everyone decided im worth 9m
2016 was a different time as by then most expensive Dman who was a weird outlier was Subban at 9m. Everyone else was in the mid to high 7m range (Byfugelin = 7.6m, Ekblad 7.5m)
TBL taxes also apply. And no Hedman signed at a higher cap % at the time
Hedman when he signed = 10.79 and Sergechev = 10.3
Its all about timing and total cap.
But in the end Sergechev making more was a bit questionable</div></div>
My bad on Hedman's cap %, but less than 11% for arguably the top dman in the league at the time was pretty decent. Sergachev was probably worth around 9% of the cap but Nurse and Jones messed up the market (which Hronek might do now).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>In general the comparison wasnt cups and stuff it was the fact that in Hedman and Sergechev it was a bit questionable to give Sergechev more than Hedmen. I get the contract was earlier and this and that but Hedman was the best Dman in Tampa and should have been the bar unless Sergechev was really putting up some insane stats.
In Van's case its Hughes so Hronek asking for more than him would be odd. Now Hughes will soon get a bigger payday but even then at most Hronek should be in the low 7m</div></div>
Yeah but Hughes signed a fair deal before he really broke out. I'll bet Vancouver wishes they locked him up for 8 years.
Hedman took a discount in his prime at a lower cap % than what Sergachev signed for.

Hedman is making less than Sergechev
But in this case its hard to justify Hronek at 8.5m</div></div>
almost 100 playoff games, 2 cup wins, played Hedman's minutes in a couple of playoff games
vs
0 playoffs yet, some subpar play for Detroit at times

Parros threw the book at Rempe for making goons look bad. If he fought MacDermid it would have been 1 game max.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>Per Dhaliwal
Hronek Extension could = 8.5m x 8 years</div></div>
He's always put up points but this is the first year he's been praised for his play in his own end. I think Forsling was his comparable so with that in mind 6.75M AAV should have been more than enough.

How early would the Pens pick have to be for Dubas to choose to defer it?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jamnjon</b></div><div>The phrasing on the Karlsson trade condition is that if the Penguins' pick is in the top 10 Dubas can choose to defer the pick to 2025, not that he has to. Considering how fortunate they were with the health of their big 4 this year and the fact that the youngest of them is Karlsson who has a significant injury history and will be 34 before the season starts and the others will be 37,37, and 38, and they lost a guy who was a point per game player through 3/4 of the season this year, there's a decent chance next year they drop in the standings beyond where they are this year. If the pick is in the 8-10 range I feel like it would make sense for them to just give up this year's pick instead of waiting until next year and risking it being even earlier. On the other hand, deferring when they don't have to would be admitting they're expecting to do worse and that could be tough to do while Crosby's still there and playing well.</div></div>
This reminds me of when the Senators drafted Tkachuk 4th overall and gave up what became the 4th overall (Byram) the following season.
We'll see if the Penguins are faced with such an easy decision. The way they're trending it should be a top 5 pick.

Based on the ridiculous OT game from the other day, not having your team ready to get back on the ice should be an automatic fine/suspension for the coach.

Henderson is a graveyard for forward prospects, so I'm glad Suzuki gets to be a 1C somewhere else. As an organisation, they won't prioritise skill development. They want playoff depth ready to step into the bottom 6.
They'll have to make due with Eichel & Hertl somehow

OK. He seems to still have some potential as a possible top 9 guy, but can't stay healthy.
I'd take Foote back as a depth guy, but I don't know if McNabb would fetch 2 picks as a cap dump. His value was his cap hit & term. Foote & 3rd seems like a more reasonable expectation.
