My Take on Playoff Lines
This looks pretty spot on. I really like the moves to the forward corps but man, Klingberg us going to so show Wild fans why Addison isn’t nearly as bad defensively as they say he is.

If Addison isn’t enough straight up (plus the cost/s of retention), I don’t want him!
Greenway to SJ for retention.
Addison to Van for Boeser plus a ‘24 2nd for retention.
Deal.

I think you'd have to add a bit more to the JvR trade if Philly is retaining 50%. Maybe make the 24' 3rd this year's 4th or a David Spacek-type prospect.

Jokiharju and 3rd in my opinion. But thats assuming buffalo take all 6million of Dumba's contract.

For Buffalo we don't need the salary retention, So your more likely looking at a 2nd,4th and Jacob Bryson for Dumba.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jnowariak</b></div><div>I think you need a top line, then 2 seconds. But alas, I think my original question matters for next year because of the cap. Bringing on Bennet likely means you don’t re-sign Addison, so you need to think of the total surplus value.
The Athletic values Hartman at $4.4 ($1.7 actual), Ek at $8.6 ($5.3 actual), and Bennet at $5.5 ($4.4 actual). I don’t think there’s an edge in using that cap space on Bennet when you can get roughly the same on ice value for a third of the cap hit in Hartman. My point is that there’s more value in a guy like Walker coming up and playing like a $2 mil player than Bennet playing at his current level.
P.S. If Hartman gets his penalties under control, this won’t be an argument. And I’d take that bet.</div></div>
All things equal, I would take Bennett over Hartman 100 times out of 100 times, but because of their contracts, Hartman probably holds more value…especially to the Wild.
I’m not nearly as high on Walker as you are! I watched every game of his with the Gophers and I’m not sure he improved after his freshman season. Plus, he is already bald so I think his ceiling is right where he currently is…a fringe NHLer and nothing more. If he ever gets an extended stint with the Wild he will easily be exposed for what he is; a speed and effort only guy. His hands and head are definitely below NHL average!

I see Bennett as a mixture of Ek and Hartman…like smack dab in the middle of the two.
Because of the current, but moreso the future strength of the Wild’s wings, I absolutely believe the can contend with Ek, Bennett, and Rossi manning the middle for a long time. It works perfectly with my 3 - 2nd lines theory.</div></div>

You're probably better off simplifying this. Keep Dumba as an own-rental and then figure out the value delta between Greenway and Bennett and paying FLA that way.
Don't think Dumba carries that much value to FLA, and especially not if it's largely contingent on them finding a 3rd team to be involved.

I get why Bennet is enticing, but do you think he’s a Hartman or an Ek? I lean toward Hartman, but if you think he’s an Ek then this trade makes a lot more sense.

I personally have my reservations about Bennet, especially at his cap hit, but I think the logic is fine. However, retaining of Greenway or assuming any extra dead cap is an absolute no-go. They only have like 9 mil to sign like 5 guys currently and any retention would decrease that amount further.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Digitalbooya06</b></div><div>ROR is a 3rd line center at this point. How is he not a "depth piece at best"?
Are you going to pretend that ROR isn't declining? Ppg is down. Faceoff % down. +/- is a meh stat, except when you are the worst on your team by -8 and you missed 10 games already.</div></div>
Heh. Funny stuff. Let's see if I can tidy this up for ya.
- ROR is NOT a 3C. That's just factually wrong and thematically delusional. He plays against top lines, guy. And the AGM author has him at 1C anyway.
- Even if he was only a 3C, that is not close to what "depth piece" means.
- I never said anything about not declining, but he was the team's best player in the playoffs last spring. Frankly, I just think it's been a Murphy's Law season for the whole team, and I also think that losing his ride-or-die Perron was a very big deal at the very beginning of the season, where most of his genuinely bad play occurred (one point, -12 through 10 games).
- Reducing O'Reilly to PPG shows a lack of understanding of all he does. And yes, his faceoff % is down this season, but still better than most, so... okay.
- Ya just skated right around my +/- comments, huh? And my point remains that all these on-ice stats (a ka not individual) require context beyond even things like ENGs against (which the Blues top the league in btw). Ya know... because there's five other guys contributing to that stat. And when you don't actually watch the player play, and you only use a stat sheet to "analyze play" - well, you get what you pay for.
Plus, as you can see, my initial contribution to this discussion was telling OP that Minnesota would not make this offer. I'm under no illusion that this is a good trade idea.

Chicago accepts, but Davidson may try to negotiate that 2nd becoming a 1st if the Wild win the Cup and Toews plays so many playoff games and with a certain average TOI. (Which means your O'Reilly trade falls through.)

As stated above, Wild's 2023 2nd and Lorenz should be enough for Toews half retained. Maybe the 2nd alone if Minnesota is the only team Toews will waive for.

With Feedback on the Kane Trade
This is an interesting trade idea and the value given up for Kane seems close esp with no retention. The piece I worry about is that Boldy is a playmaker and so is Kane, IDK how this would really work vs getting a scorer to compliment Boldy's play. Yes, I get it, Kane is a HOF player and would help any team, but not sure its what this team needs to make a run.

Hawks accept. If the Dumba trade comes off before the Kane trade, the Hawks will take the EDM 1st rounder obtained from them. I have a feeling that will be a higher pick.
