Mopping up cap casualties
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>Why would DOmi sign long term in an ANNUALLY JUMPING CAP for what hes making now?
WHy would 31 yr old Edmundsen, who's making 3.75mil take 2mil long term?
There are only 3 quality UFA centers and stephenson has been criminally underpaid, so 4mil is way too light
And why ignore goaltending? Wedgewood/Jones/Woll (because of injuries) is not a good/consistent net</div></div>
Domi deal is drawing on the whole hometown not having to move cities every year plus endorsements etc.
I take the point on edmundson although don't think its impossible he signs it to be on a contender. If not there's similar options in the same bracket, maybe do a deal with vegas for Hague at $2.2m etc.
Depending on how the chips fall could potentially stretch to a bit more on stephenson and even run a 21/22 man roster so could get towards the $5-6m area. I'd argue he wont go for beyond that $6/7m+ but hey could be wrong.
Again take the point on the goaltending but is it really worth spending $3-5m for a goalie who could fall down. Plenty of teams have proved you can win with low paid goalies so personally a trio of Woll/Wedgewood/Jones with better D in front should be more than okay given cap constraints from our big contracts.
All in all I'd be more than happy with this line-up and feel this or a variation of this is definitely achievable.

Sorry should have been clearer, those three are the players im shipping out (to anywhere) either collectively or in separate trades. Then returns would be at minimum a 2nd+ each for lily & rob then like a 5/6/7th for gregor.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredOfLondon</b></div><div>dumba has been awful this year, why on earth would anyone spend that on him?</div></div>
It was mainly the fact of getting McBain also (who I rate and would give us a 3C option locked in for term). A top4 D and bottom sixer would probably be best case between now and friday imo.
Realistically though any top4 D is likely gonna cost a 1st and there's very little that are attainable. Perhaps another idea would be a similar sort of package for Borgen & Wennberg from Seattle.

Feels far too much. For that package likely just the first and lily/robo would do (but I wouldnt do this from a leafs perspective)

I think Duclair might come in a little cheaper, if it's a 2024 3rd I think adding Hirvonen and another pick is a slight overpayment. 2024 3rd and a prospect should be enough imo. But ya never know at the deadline!
Nice ideas!</div></div>
Thanks man, yeah you're probably right about the values of both but yeah these type of marginal/cheaper adds are what we should be looking to do this year imo. Would still give us a shot but ultimately protects the 1sts/future and we should use UFAs to do the proper upgrades in the summer.

I do like this Nylander trade though and its a lot easier for the Canes cap. To get Necas and Pesce back improves the overall balance of the line-up imo

I hear you but that $2m next year would be a killer in this scenario as would have to pay Matthews, Necas, Pesce, Lilly and replacement for Brodie. Therefore figured it was better to offload without losing a 1st so tried to make the package decent enough that someone might take it.

3. I’m taking Dellandrea 900% of the time over Robertson, east no from Dallas
4. The first seems nice for Carolina, but Lafferty and Murray will get the minimum playing time</div></div>
1. He would obviously sign a long term extension with them
2. The way I've worked the trade they are only taking on ~$5m in cap so absolutely that can still work out deals for all (which would make their top six outrageously good)
3. Fair enough (but I did include a third also and could add to it + reunite the robertsons)
4. Carolina may have use for Murray as a 1B for a year and Lafferty is definitely serviceable in Martinook's role, the 1st hopefully entices them but as previous poster mentioned may still need to add more on top

He's not that old and has already proven his worth. $5mx4 would only take him up to 36 and realistically a host of teams would happily offer him that so this is a good offer if we're interested in keeping him.

Anyway this will never happen but would make for a very strong line-up
