I think I rather resign Duclair than getting Sprong. Duclair looked quite good on the Kucherov line.

I like that Reilly Smith deal, Kesselring for Perbix is fine I guess but, does not fix our problem on defense at all. Mike Reilly signing makes no sens at all tho. Just a waste of 1.5m as we have Lilleberg that is very good.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>You should trade Hedman</div></div>
I see what you mean there but, the idea is to wait for is contract to end and resign him on a cheaper deal. The young core is signed for a long time, the veterans are probably going to take pay cuts because they are declining (except kuch). Then we gonna have more money to sign depth. The cap is also increasing every year which helps a lot.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CoachMark</b></div><div>Maniaked, I disagree . When you have 5 of your 6 top 6 sign for 3 years. Top 4 defensemen( Sub Lillenberg in if you wish, he's a keeper) and a Top Goalie all in their hockey prime years and a few above prime, It is win now.) Putting Motte, Eyssemont, Chaffee, Glendenning into that bottom 6 with Paul helped them with their penalty kill , faceoffs and depth.</div></div>
This team is good enough to make the playoffs and making it past the first round for sure. This year, we were unlucky to play Florida but, we are not winning another cup without retooling. The core is great but, we need to build around it. Depth scoring as been an issue as of late, the 3rd line is pretty bad and the 4th is fine. Same thing for our defense, a bunch of depth guys that can't defend that well. Going back with the same team would be a mistake in my opinion.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>Then you are just moving deck chairs. Moving non difference makers for different non difference makers does nothing to change the team. It's either going to be a slow decline into missing the playoffs ala Pittsburgh and Washington, or a bold retool. None of the core is getting younger.</div></div>
It's not about winning now, we can't win but, we can't rebuild either. We don't have picks at all. The idea is to build cap space and the future without giving up on the present. Get value in return of players and sign free agents to replace them.

Lightning 2024-2025 season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>None of those guys matter and do you think you'll find better value? Jeannot at 2+ million to fight people and do nothing else doesn't have value. Paul is pretty good and cheap, but will you find better options at his cap hit? Tampa could retool around Vasi, Kucherov, Point and Sergachev. They could recoup some pretty great assets by moving Hedman as well, (unless he's willing to sign a crazy cheap extension). But it's pretty clear the depth of this squad just isn't there anymore.</div></div>
Cernak: He has a no trade clause starting next year, if we trade him it's now. He has good enough value to get us picks and a depth piece in return.
Perbix: We have Crozier and Raddysh that can play a similar role. His contract is good enough value to get a 3rd back.
Paul: He is a 3rd line center with solid value, trading him only make sens if we get a young center back in another deal.
Jeannot: Basically a cap dump, I love him and would like to keep him but, unfortunately in Tampa, he can't play higher than the 4th line it seems like.

No, you move on from Cernak, Perbix and possibly Paul or Jeannot. Try to get back picks and younger players. Use the money and sign free agents for shot-term deals.

I agree but, you have to get a center back. Turcotte is cheap and could possibly amount to something + you never know what a change of scenary can do. He's not a big piece of the trade either.

Controversial trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JTBF81</b></div><div>The defense is by far, the main problem. Tampa's ga/g has gone from 2.86 to 3.07 to 3.26 the last 3 seasons, while.gf/g has stayed pretty constant, 3.48, 3.41, 3.51. Yes, depth scoring was an issue, but trading Cirelli for say Anderson not only adds an upgrade on defense and some scoring to help replace Cirwlli, but would also allow the team to add another decent ufa F in addition to Duclair. Someone like Sprong, Foegle, Joshua, etc could potentially be acquired with additional cap space in this scenario. It's unlikely as Tampa seems committed to Cirelli, but it does not downgrade the team in theory.</div></div>
We have a good center depth because of Cirelli. Stamkos does not play at center anymore because he lacks defensively, Paul is good as a 3rd line center, but I can't really see him higher. Also, Cirelli has great term on his contract, trading him for Andersson who has 2 years left makes no sens. We also have Sergachev coming back, this will be a big improvement on the defence. The defence is still an issue, but we don't need to create a center issue to fix it.

Cernak is not overpaid, Tampa is just willing to take a downgrade to save 800k. Also, Tampa as no state tax which would help to get Roy on that deal. I can see what you mean tho.

Controversial trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JTBF81</b></div><div>Paul is a great 3C, but as long as Stamkos stays, he can play 2C again without an issue. Moving Paul for an upgrade at 3RD makes Cirelli have to play 3C and Stamkos 2C anyway, as there's no one else to then play 3C. Tampa can also likely be able to.spend around 2.5 in ufa on a 3RD upgrade, so there's no reason to move Paul for one. If Cirelli could be used for a dman that is a true top 4 that can give the team some semblance of what they had on the blueline a few years ago and pkssibly save them enough space to add a solid F in addition to Duclair, I believe JBB would at least consider it.</div></div>
Our defense is not our only problem, depth scoring as been an issue all year. Losing Cirelli really hurts that. Losing him would also hurt our defense because he is so good defensively. Cirelli is a huge part of one of the best PK in the league. Sure we desperately need a top 4 defenceman but giving up Cirelli would not make our team better.
