Good list, agree with pretty much all of it.
Love the dig at Sens and Leafs fans also. lol.
The one guy I don't like being here is Schenn.
His relatively decent rate of production and scoring does in no way make up for the way he so heavily gets outshot, outchanced and outscored whenever he's on the ice.
Schenn's more overrated in the hockey community than he is underrated for my money.

Canes
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>McSorley</b></div><div>Have to agree. Can't see the Canes winning a cup with Aho & Kotkaniemi as their top 6 centers, especially when you look at teams who've won cups in recent history.
Maybe Stephenson isn't the right guy, but someone is surely needed to bridge the gap.
IMO, out of all the teams that need to win a cup soon, it's the Carolina Hurricanes.</div></div>
I don't want people to think I hate KK. I don't. I think he's a good player. Needs more development to be a true #2C on a cup winner. He might get there, but #2Cs need to score near a PPG pace for an entire season.
If I were the Canes...I'd see what it costs for Lindholm to come back...and I'd probably pay it If it doesn't include Nikishin/Morrow. Everyone else is available prospect wise. Likely Turbo in the deal top for the now. The Canes have one of the best farm systems in the league. Getting Lindholm would mean they've got one of the deepest teams at the center position in the entire NHL. Aho, Lindholm, KK can all play a 200' game. In this hypothetical, they'd all be locked up for MANY years to come. Currently best Defense in the NHL. In my mind...if they got Lindholm, they'd be cup favorites.

In general, thanks for making my point for me. I'm assuming you want the Canes to win a cup??? 60 point pace...for HALF a season is bad. I'm not saying he can't turn into a #2C. He's just not there...or even close to it.

Next year with Laughton and Kubalik
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>McSorley</b></div><div>How is Sanderson worth 8M+ already? Lol.</div></div>
Right now he's not. But if you're getting him on an 8 year deal, you aren't paying him for what he is right now, you're paying for what he will become.
He had a relatively unheralded rookie season, but he was incredible. As a 20 year old with no pro experience he played 22min a night like he was a seasoned veteran defensive player, with elite skating and puck moving ability, he even had respectable offensive production for a rookie (32 pts). The fact that he was that good lugging Travis Hamonic up and down the ice is remarkable.
He's going to be a top pairing defenseman in his prime, and the way the cap is gonna go up, a top pairing defenseman might end up running you 10-12 mil on the open market in a few short years. If Ottawa has to pay Jake Sanderson 8mil this summer, I'd say you do it, because by the time the cap is hitting the 90+mil zone he's gonna be well below Market value.

Should this be the D pairs
Eventually, I think so, but currently, none of Clarke, Spence, Bjornfot, or Englund are ready to take on 2nd pair minutes. So to start off the season expect similar to the playoff lines with a sheltered 3rd pairing (Edler, Durzi) where the RD is used on the 2nd PP unit (Some combo of: LD -Bjornfot, Englund / RD - Clarke/Spence).
Long term I actually see us trying Spence on his offside with Roy as our 3rd pair, so each pair has a scoring threat and a shutdown guy.

Dont forget about Ohgren...He could slot into a Swed line with Eriksson Ek and Johansson

More likely with Ehlers and Perfetti as the second line. Iofallo and either Appleton or Barron will be third line with Lowry.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>McSorley</b></div><div>Can someone sell me on Krebs please? I feel like he's a bust.</div></div>
It depends what you think he’s gonna be
Is he a “bust” in that he’s a 1st round draft pick that’s not gonna play on the top line?
Sure, if that’s how you’re defining it
But in reality
Krebs centered Girgensons (“A”) and Okposo (“C”) for most of last year- and that line was consistently given the toughest defensive responsibilities
So an emphasis has been put on his defensive game
And for such a young kid, to carry that weight, & do it pretty well- I’d say he’s anything but a bust
And that he’s actually one of our most important young players
So much so, that every time i see someone try to trade him away on here (almost always not a Sabres fan that does this),
my response to them is to let them basically know that he’s close to untouchable

He's breaking out this year if he's not asked to play the toughest defensive minutes with 4th line wingers.
I predict a 45 point season as 3C

Krebs is too young to be considered a bust. He’s only 22 years old. Mittelstadt was considered a bust until this year, and he’s only 24 years old. It can take him a little bit longer to find his stride, but just because he doesn’t do it until he’s 24 doesn’t mean he’s the bust either.

Sens 2024
A better use of the money would be to lock up Sanderson for 8x8 (or thereabouts), and not sign Pesce. He isn't needed, and that is a huge overpay.
The Toffoli signing is another head scratcher. Rather pay Pinto and Greig than a winger with meh playoffs stats on the wrong side of 30. Even if you wanted to get another winger, can probably find cheaper, younger options

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>McSorley</b></div><div>And because we got PLD, two of ****emo, Bjornfot, JAD have to go on waivers, right? Unless we trade Grundstrom.</div></div>
At this point, the Kings seem very much ready to only healthy scratch one player. (21-man roster)
In regards to Bjornfot, that's why we signed Englund to two years, that's a lot of money for most teams for a relatively unproven asset. He likely goes to waivers and comes up as the 7th man unless Bjornfot absolutely blows it in camp. They will probably offer a PTO to another 3LD just in case they lose Englund to waivers and sign him as well.
Grundstrom is well-liked by the coaching staff and he and Kaliyev are the most likely players to become the third-line (either PLD or Danault's) winger (with Moore or Fiala).
So it really boils down to Lizotte, JAD, Lewis, ****emo. And ****emo is the one most likely to not make camp as ****emo's offensive upside will not be as important as the strong defensive play of Lizotte, JAD, and Lewis playing with a weak 3rd pairing and weak goaltending. If Englund clears (likely) and ****emo somehow clears we have executed the plan.
JAD is more likely to be claimed than ****emo,

NSH passes. Trotz heavily implied he intends to keep both Saros and Askarov by stating he wants Askarov to learn from Saros in a similar way to Saros and Rinne in an interview earlier this week. Despite the moves, the team is likely looking at a window of true compete in a few years and that involves Askarov in goal.
