Reasonable Nylander Trade BONUS 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Affectionate_Side_64</b></div><div>That's comparable is it? ha... ha.... Think you might be overrating Roy a bit there bud! Durzi and Lily would be fine replacements to upgrade at forward. The only way the statement about the forwards is logical is if they all outscored him, when none of them did.... highest goal scorer had 40 goals 67 points, highest point producer had 23 goals 72 points.
Willy had 20 more points than Kempe and 20 more goals than Fiala. Toffoli had one more goal and 20 fewer points than Crosby, by your logic apparently they're the same player.</div></div>
You just put Roy as your #1 RD, I don't think I'm overrating him.

Reasonable Nylander Trade BONUS 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Affectionate_Side_64</b></div><div>Nylander will likely land around $9 mil, and that's if he's lucky.
You can make up numbers to support your argument all you want but Willy would likely sign in LA for 9 or less. Lily has done nothing to earn 3+ and is an RFA. 28 year old D-men whose 3 x $3.125 contract is all they've made above league min are not the players that take team friendly deals. He will get at least 5 and even if he were to take 4 it would make no sense for the Kings to resign him with Clarke and Doughty down the right side. You can keep Lily to help Clarke transition or you can just trade him for assets. If you flip him then Clarke + Nylander come in at about 8 mil this year and probably 10 the following 2 years. Roy and Kempe come in at about 8.6 this year and at least 10.5 afterwards. The point is you can deal from what is a strong right side to upgrade your forward core and add needed offense.
Thinking their combined hits would be less than Willy would mean they'd reaaalllly have to suck in the near future.</div></div>
Kings have no use for Nylander when they have Kempe, Fiala, Dubois, Arvy, Kopi, Byfield, and Kaliyev.
Keep trying to convince Kings fans that it makes sense for LA lol

Reasonable Nylander Trade BONUS 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Affectionate_Side_64</b></div><div>Like I said, Willy + Lily costs roughly the same as Roy + Kempe. If Kempe were to sign at the same time as Willy he'd be getting $2 mill less max, that's not MUCH MUCH LESS... Worse cap management would be signing Matt Roy to top 4 money with Clarke about to bump him to the third pair. Look at what you guys just traded to sign Dubois and Fiala. You gave away considerably more and got less cap value for roughly the same cap value, if not less. You're improving your team now and in the future without give any futures away AND the cap hit is still negligible.</div></div>
Having Doughty, Clarke, and Roy is comparable to having Hedman, Sergachev, and McDonagh. That blue line won Tampa 2 cups. Keep trying...

Reasonable Nylander Trade BONUS 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Affectionate_Side_64</b></div><div>He scored one more goal this year and one more the year before, prior to that it was Nylander by a landslide. That aside, I think the glaringly obvious answer here is that Nylander had 20 more points this year, 26 more the year prior, and considerably more working backwards from there. You actually save on the cap this year and get a cost-controlled replacement for Roy who should be cheaper for the next few years as well, while having more room to grow and potentially recoup assets later. If you take the cap you'd save by replacing Roy's next contract (which will include a raise) with 3 years of Brandt on his ELC then it's essentially a wash. If Kempe is truly still better than Nylander when it's time to resign Brandt than he would be making much more at that time with a rising cap. Kings deal from a position of strength (defense) to get better offensively, Leafs deal from a position of strength (offense) to get better defensively.</div></div>
Nylander is going to ask for 10M+ and Lily will likely ask for north of 3M, how does this help the Kings cap-wise?
Roy will most likely take a team friendly deal around 4M. Kemper and Roy's extension will probably be cheaper combined than Nylanders extension alone.

Byfield trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JeffGorton</b></div><div>1. You want value back before you ruin him on the 3rd line. he is currently the highest his value will be as a member of the Kings. Hes 4th on the depth charts and none of the 4 play as a winger.
2. If he does have a good year, no money to resign him
3. Kings have a goaltending duo of Copley and Talbot.
Copley had a 4.7 GSAx
Talbot had a -0.7 GSAx
Monty had a 11.8 GSAx
Nearly 3 times has much as the both of them combined on a much worse team. Oh and hes cheap.</div></div>
Byfield has been on the top line and that's where he's expected to start the season.
If you think the Kings are trading Byfield for your so called "starter" you are out of your mind.

Have to agree. Can't see the Canes winning a cup with Aho & Kotkaniemi as their top 6 centers, especially when you look at teams who've won cups in recent history.
Maybe Stephenson isn't the right guy, but someone is surely needed to bridge the gap.
IMO, out of all the teams that need to win a cup soon, it's the Carolina Hurricanes.

Before I found out he was part of the Dubois trade, I was really looking forward to seeing a Fiala-Dubois-Kupari line.
Kupari is a very solid player that can play literally anywhere in the bottom 6, with potential to be a top 6 complementary player.

Unless Spence can learn how to play on the left side, I think it ends up being a choice between Clarke or Spence, and Clarke will be the one to stay.
