<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Yikes a massive overpay for two years of Konecky.</div></div>
Yeah that’s not an overpay let alone massive one. TK is going to be a premier target on the market this off-season and the flyers have the ability to retain to make him super cheap. Ur prospects are mid at best which means to out bid everyone else it’s going to take a good chunk of stuff. Most teams with be able to offer an earlier first and better prospects which means this is the only way to get TK and besides who cares about the two years? That might be the extent left of ur window anyway

Vote for Marner deal
I don't see the rationale for trading 2 of our 16 forwards for one forward with a cap hit that's $6 million more than the guys going out. I wouldn't be happy if we made that trade for Morgan Rielly, but at least I could understand it because our primary need is a first-class LhD, but I would be outraged if we made this deal.

Seattle makes the most sense. Marner Carrie’s a large cap hit. But that’s not enough, missing a roster player.

If you plan on trading Matthews as well, I'd go for the LA one. But if it's Marner alone you do the Rangers one.

Well i'll at least give you a "thats tempting" for buffalo but top 6 rw isnt looking like an area of need and marners cap hit is just to high.
I think its a bit foolish that some other buffalo sabres fans dont see how much value marner has especially if you concider we're pushing for cup runs right now and power although he had a great rookie year is still a developing defensemen and is just as much a liability as benifit (for a few more years too most likely) were as marner is a legit hero now.

Im not a Toronto fan. The reason I suggested it is because I know Kopitar is coming off soon. And Papi might not wanna resign in Toronto. All obv unlikely but plausible.

Thought about adding Robertson but I think Marner does have big value & Leafs need to hold out for it.</div></div>
yeah, reality is that it’s just tough to trade guys with high cap hits on only a couple years left, regardless of how talented they are. a lot of teams aren’t in the position to take on 11M in cap, and Toronto wouldn’t want to take on dead cap either. so it’d need to be like Marner for a roster player making a lot of money + assets, and then that starts to look like a pretty bad deal for Toronto if they can’t leverage the assets and space properly. especially since teams can’t immediately sign him to their own deal, they have no guarantee that he’d stick around and won’t to give up a lot, especially for a guy with his playoff reputation. it’s a really tough position for the Leafs

I’m not a Kings fan so I’m not really on the pulse with what they’re thinking, but I’d be shocked if they gave you Byfield for Marner. Maybe for Matthews with a reasonable extension (with a couple other pieces going to Toronto) or something like that, not sure though

But seems unlikely to me, without a big cap jump</div></div>
It would be tough, but you'd also be betting on some of the youngsters too, which is what good teams do in a cap crunch. You could make a legit argument that Meier may end up being their 2nd best skater.

Think the idea here is the Sabres would be the ones qualifying him unless I've missed something.

Honestly I could see the Canucks taking this. Bruce doesn’t seem to be the biggest fan of Hoglander (even though I agree he is gonna be a stud) and the Canucks are reportedly interested in Liljegren. Add in upgrading the 3rd to a 1st and I can definitely see them accepting

PK has been decent this year and is putting up points and playing top 4 minutes with Dougie out.
He’s not what he was and he’s overpaid at 9m cap but he’s only getting 2m salary so it’s peanuts to pay for rest of year.

First of all, he is going to the oilers as we have Dave Tippett. It makes perfect sense! Realistically, I think they wouldn’t trade him for picks, but in a package for a upgrade. Probably for a good forward, or defence men.

That is solid.
Dermott as the LD/RD pine rider is as good and as affordable as it gets these days.
a #2 pairing RD or a top pairing defensive juggernaut to bump Brodie down to 2nd pairing is all the Leafs need on the back end. Subban would work nicely with Muzzin IMO. No need to add more than that.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>buffbry</b></div><div>Dermott is not an NHL player, you are lying to yourself as all leafs fans do. Don't want the player or the contract you can keep it</div></div>
Explain to me how that works. How does a guy who's been a good contributor on a top 5 team is somehow not an NHL player. This is such a common "truth" on here. All depth players in TO are AHL players, and yet they all are outplaying their competition and winning 70% of their games. Is the AHL better than the NHL? Because how do all these AHLers succeed in TO? It's not the core because according to you guys they are also overrated. Very confusing.
