Well in some cases it's the idea they'll fit/do better on a different team, in a "better" situation (I think that's the case with Jenner. He brings an element the Leafs need & will be playing with more talent & a less stifling system.) In others it's just a case of the grass is always greener

Fair.
Although if you don't get Sutter, in this scenario, you can keep Kerfoot just need STL to retain almost 50%

I know some tv were speculating on STL maybe selling off their pending ufas, so I thought I'd try the best fit. Though could try for Schwartz

2 Moves

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>in theory it wouldnt be so bad as Tampa won with a very strong left side (Hedman, Sergechev, Mcdonagh) but still the problem becomes Seattle as if we did this Brodie or Ekholm would be taken.
In general I see Dubas looking for a gritty Hyman type player (Nick Paul) instead of another D as rn leafs have enough of them</div></div>
1. Half as season is half a season. He has another year left & the 2nd is conditional
2. Brodie has a NMC & has to be protected
3. They could always protect Ekholm over Holl & even if the 2nd goes to the Preds (make SCF) & he's taken by Seattle that means Dermott could still be a Leaf. Cause at the moment that's who the Leafs are gonna lose. Leafs are gonna protect Auston, Mitch, Willie & John up front, Rielly, Brodie, Muzzin & Holl on D & Campbell in net. You don't have to protect UFAs, Mikheyev isn't eligible to be exposed, so that leaves Kerfoot, Engvall & Dermott.
Anyways, it might be a steep price I think it's worth it. Especially if like Tampa Leafs win the cup

Why Not
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>McDavidFan97</b></div><div>You saw trades other teams offered for Forsberg? Rumours aren't exactly real offers. I'm comparing this trade to the Hall trade last year while considering Forsberg > Hall, and half of his $6mill contract is being retained through next season. Maybe they remove one of the mid tier prospects or the 2nd round pick. This offer is a slight overpay but I figure that's what it will take</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Maybe teams have learned from that Hall fiasco. NJ became a .500 after he left and Arizona got worse with him. To me, Toronto is one of most illogical teams to be make a big play for a winger....but it seems to be CF fantasy that Leafs have to be in on Forsberg</div></div>
Honestly I'd rather go after Ekholm but the rumors I've heard are for a forward (top 6) & might as well go big. I think the Leafs really just need to get & stay healthy cause can always call up Robertson for scoring depth. As for the trade it felt like a bit much but with Preds retaining half felt it was needed, though you could make a pick conditional or drop a prospect.

He has absolutely zero leverage - he's a bottom pair guy to this point, there's like 4 other guys than can play in his place and he doesn't have arb rights.
I really dk why people are dumping kerfoot just so we can have Engvall sit in the press box LOL</div></div>
Was more just a question? But if they trade Kerfoot I'd assume they're gonna sign someone still out there for less eg Haula

I dunno I feel like it's one year too many or half a mill to much.
Fair enough on Vatanen, keep Holl & spend more on a centre, though I do think you could Koivu cheap & he'd be a good fit as 3rd line centre.

I think playing 3rd pair minutes not against the other teams best will be helpful & it's one year & gives the Leafs flexibility going forward.
Feel free to go get two quality D with term & waive bye to one at the expansion draft. So why not buy low, give a lesser role & have cap space for next season.

That's why he's on the left side.
Ideally he can play 3rd pair minutes & help ease in/protect Liljgren. In my alternate he plays left on second pair with Muzzin who slides over to the right side

I don't know what Johnsson will get but he's not a straight dump. Same age as Josh Anderson, but played in half as many games but AJs ppg is slightly higher. Not saying you'll get Domi & 3rd but he has value & you won't have to pay to move him.
