But I don’t think the kraken would give an early second, it’s a minuscule difference, but think the Rangers second would be more likely. Marner also probably wouldn't waive to go to seattle

As an essentially rookie, Robertson had 14 goals in 54 games, while playing very very very limited minutes, if given opportunity he could be a 25 goal scorer. Robertson could definitely fetch a late second rounder. Also it was stated “if sent with a late round pick”
Robertson and a 5th for a 2024 second from a non-bad team.
Also sorry, I was trying to say Jarnkrok could get a 4th, and maybe another late pick like a 7th. Or something like it.</div></div>
I doubt TOR could get that for Robertson. Between his injuries, inconsistent play, and no longer being waiver exempt starting next season, other teams will approach him with caution. Unless TOR wants to make room and play him, I think the best they can hope for is a 3rd. But, if they do squeeze out a 2nd, more power to them.

CBJ Marner
Because you asked nicely: there's a couple of pieces Columbus wouldn't trade under any circumstances for Marner, because of team/positional need and the fact that Marner (though great) is kind of redundant positionally with Gaudreau and fiscally irresponsible with Laine here. Fantilli, Werenski, Jiricek, 4OA, and Jenner are all off the table based on how important they are for the team. And frankly, we don't want/need Marner badly enough to part with any of them at this time.
If there's a Marner trade that could be worked out without involving any of those pieces, great, I'd suggest something like this: <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/833361">ACGM I did a couple days ago</a>
If not...Toronto is better off sending him elsewhere, thanks but no thanks.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>Marner has been more effective than Bertuzzi and yet everyone wants to give him cap space to not do anything.</div></div>
Totally disagree, atleast Bertuzzi brings things outside of scoring to make up for any poor defensive plays. Routinely sets the tone, gets into gritty areas and wins board battles, parks his ass infront of the goalie on the PP. Gets domi and Matthews the puck, draws penalties. He is the type of player Toronto needs to keep. Fundamentally him and marner aren't comparable. One is playing for a 5m contract, the other 10.9. expectations are totally different.
Marner never gave Toronto any breaks and we paid him for what his potential was. He has never played like a 11M guy in the playoffs. Why would Toronto give him any breaks if he never gave us one. His offense does not make up for the lack of effort, entitlement for call, avoidance of contact, and poor defensive play in the playoffs.

Re-Tool for 2024-2025
Solid choices overall, especially with the beefed up blue-line. Curious about your lack of interest in Dewar, given that his is an RFA and could be a better version of Holmberg as you have him deployed.
My only note would be that I would not expect Monahan to come so cheap, and Roy is a UFA, so unless you want to sign him for 8 years, not much that LA trading him in May/June would do. Also, if that is too little for Parayko, you're going to get a virtual earful from Blues' Clues Boys.

Calum Ritchie will be better than Mercer or Holtz. A big right shot center like him is exactly what the Flames need most.

31 other teams accept your offer. Just one 1st would be enough for many teams.
Terrible game by Georgiov. Colorado could be another team bidding against Toronto, New Jersey, etc., for Markstrom this summer.
Marky for Georgiev + Ritchie + 2024 1st. Retention is negotiable.

Detroit Gets Their Goalie

Except for:
- Defensively responsible
- Helped Seider get over the curse of Chiarot
- Outplayed his worth (shouldn’t be top pairing but DET had no other options)
- wants to be in Detroit
- still at a solid age
- great contract (not too much money/term)
- battles and goes after other team stars trying to make life miserable
- loved in the locker room
- liked by fans
Not saying he’s the greatest thing ever, but to have him in an appropriate role on the middle pair is fantastic until a prospect takes over

final playoff lineup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mikael_Smith</b></div><div>Almost sad to let go of the Robertson- Holmberg - Nylander line
Liked that one a lot</div></div>
That line didn't really make any sense to me tbh. Robertson doesn't have a strong well-rounded game so he's invisible while Nylander is lazy and is probably pissed at Sheldon for being placed on that line so he's invisible. Holmberg has potential and played well against Florida but Jarnkrok is a more well-rounded player who can help us on the penalty kill. Nothing wrong with Holmberg, he has a lot of potential but he's probably going to be a starter next year as he has shown a lot of improvements.

The East is SET
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mikael_Smith</b></div><div>Predators > Canucks?

Vegas > Dallas?
Idk I like Vegas a lot, but honestly I don’t think they can beat the stars, then the predators of every wild card team I think have the best shot. I don’t think Tampa is all that great, probably Boston in like 5-6 games, then the capitals are bum. And the islanders mind as well be a wild card team, and canes walk em in 4.
All leading back to the Predators beating the Canucks
IMO</div></div>
It's looking like Vegas is gonna be matched up against Edmonton, Kings against Vancouver and Nashville against Dallas. I just feel as if in each conference there's at least 1 upset every single year, in the west I got Kings knocking off the Canucks and in the East I think I could see Tampa shock the world and take down Florida

Understanding
If we take Hughes at his word ( and we have no reason not to since he has thus far been pretty open on everything) he wants to be a playoff team in 2024-25, that would mean he is going to go shopping big time this summer.
As far as Matheson and Savard go, I don't see either being traded until we know Hutson,Reinbacher and Mailloux are going to be full time NHLers. Even then, I can see the Habs extending Mathesonand Savard to short term deals. I hat the idea but Guhle may be one of the guys moved for help in other areas. As of right now though the plan seems to be playing Guhle on the right and moving 2-3 of Harris, Struble, Barron and Kovacevic in the offseason.
As far as Hutson goes, his ceiling is Hughes or Makar, his floor is a more offensive Harris, most likely he ends up as a more offensive Spurgeon. Any way you look at it, he is a guy we are definitely keeping until we know where on the scale he is going to land.
Gally and Anderson are going to remain Habs until their contracts expire. Hughes and MSL have both said they expect Anderson to get back to being a 20+ goal scorer next year, so reading into that, they are planning on having him on the roster. Gallagher, I feel like they are just keeping around for the lockerroom and work ethic, he has literally put his blood, sweat and tears into the organization, So they will remain loyal to him, if only out of respect and to show other veteran players that the organization isn't just going to run them out of town near the end of their careers as they have done in the past. That should help with FA's being more willing to sign in Montreal than they have been in the past.
