Lundqvist trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>Lundqvist may be a top 30 prospect at RD but he has already stumbled making the leap to the NA game, which is often expected of euro players, but getting leap frogged in the order by Schneider is a bad look.
Ducks wouldn't be sending a guy who has shown he can hang in the majors for Lundqvist, but we would send an actual prospect center.</div></div>
I encourage you to read my other recent quote, but I am not sure how its " a bad look" for Schneider to play over him. Thats what was expected lol. Of course he cant hang in there when he was behind Fox and Trouba as well.

PLEASE NO MORE SANDIN LUNDKVIST TRADES
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>Not trying to be rude but if being a RHD always means being valuable, then how about Holl+Sandin for Dahlin, should balance out, no? Sandin and Dahlin are the same age, Holl's righthandedness makes up for Dahlin's edge in talent. Or How about Dahlin for Liljegren to just simplify things?
It's true that being more established doesn't mean more talented (I'm not going to pretend to know which is the more talented player) but it could suggest that he's more developed (unless the reason why Lundkvist is less established is injuries-Sandin missed almost the entire 2020-21 season to injury but he still has 63 more games played, or lack of being presented with an opportunity that he earned aka mismanagement). Regardless if this is a fair swap or more than fair swap, or less than equal it's still a good haul for NYR who may get lowballed anyways.
The reason for the trade is a request from Lundkvist due to not thinking he has a good playing opportunity (which just means an excess of RD), not because NYR don't need defense, he's waiver exempt so he can just play in the minors for all they care if he's not good enough. Sandin may welcome a move because he has the same worries, and as far as I can tell there is a spot for Sandin in the line up now, the only reason the OP was suggesting that this wouldn't work is because he thinks NYR can't afford him, which isn't necessarily true.</div></div>
Holl isnt comparable to Dahlin in the slightest, so no that doesnt make sense. The context of the argument is that Sandin and Lundkvist are equals. Dahlin is far superior to Holl. So youre entire argument is null and void. But even then youre not addressing the fact that the Rangers also dont need him, which is a whole separate layer on its own, there are 7 dmen on NYR's roster right now and Sandin doesnt supplant one of them

Well A. yes it does, Right-handed D are known to be one of the most valuable commodities in the league and this has been established with precedent and B. just because theyre the same age just more established doesnt mean hes more developed or more talented and it also doesn't mean it's a fair swap if the rangers have 0 need for a dman, kinda the reason why Lundkvist is getting moved to start with. LD is the most over saturated position in the league, theyre not worth that much

I would challenge you to find a current cup competitor that has the cap space and would give you more than a late round pick to get him. Only team that comes to mind who has cap space and is a competitor is Minnesota. Everyone else who can afford him sees no value in him because he is a rental.
Toronto is significantly over the cap, doesn't want to loose Sandin, and attached NMC to everything that moved outside of their league min players and their Coredashians. The only players they can realistically move are Muzzin, Kerfoot, and Holl. Muzzin's only trade home evaporated today when Ana picked up Kulikov, so he is out. Kerfoot is the next biggest contract, and is internally replaceable, and every other GM knows this.
The best deal you would get from ANA is hockey swap Kerfoot for Grant. Minnesota might throw you a late round pick, though their fans seems to think that wont happen. Where else are you going to send him?

probably not playoff team
Man that's a rough review bud, you forgot a few players in your synopsis.... we have the vezina winner, a former norris winner, a 50 goal scorer, bread, and mika. Id also like to make a point to mention k'andre miller who also has the potential to turn into a superstar. The team is lead by a top tier coach also. Not only will they make the playoffs but they will be a force come playoff time, they were 2 wins from making the finals last year. Who exactly do you have them below in the metro?

Actually that first was sent over for Arizona taking on 2 cap dumps while exchanging a 3rd cap dump.
This is probably the worst case of overvaluing a pick I've ever seen. You might get older deadweight like OEL in exchange for that pick, but you aren't getting a 23 YO 1C.
I guess we're just forgetting all those Hart Trophies and Stanley Cups Olofsson, Middlestadt and Portillo have won.

If I was worked up and wanted to make my argument sound better, I would also simply neglect the fact that there was $12 mil worth of cap dumps included in that Garland/OEL deal last year...

It's definitely not better than the Eichel package. Although the Eichel deal isn't comparable in any way. Eichel was seriously injured and had demanded a trade.
But for the individual pieces and their value to Winnipeg. The Jets need right shot top 6 forwards and right shot top 4 defensemen or players with the potential to get there.
What the Jets don't need:
Left shot forwards especially older ones looking for a raise (Olofsson). Or marginal bottom 6 ones (Middlestadt).
Goalies, especially ones the look to be heading to the college UFA route (Portillo).
Other than the 1sts there is nothing Winnipeg needs which equals a no from Winnipeg.

Blockbuster with LA
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wojme</b></div><div>Have you lost your mind? Cus I'll help you find it. Quinn Samuelsson and the Vegas pick would fetch a far better return than that, if those players were even remotely available from the sabres</div></div>

Apparently neither of you is literate in English. I said that "the only deal that makes sense for Los Angeles is Quinn, Samuelsson and the Las Vegas pick" (in partial reply to the OP's snotty suggestion in Comment #9 that I "probably" valued Kempe as worth "power dahlin and cozens and maybe the 9th" overall pick). My point was that the price for Buffalo specifically would be more than the Sabres would or should pay. The whole idea of trading Kempe is silly. And neither one of you seems to understand the difference between player and prospect, either.

Next Season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mike_Gartner</b></div><div>honest question, what is the justification that Turcotte is worth Miller?</div></div>
It's a knee jerk reaction, at this point.
Whenever someone offers a proposal for a well known Prospect (regardless of how they're doing), they have to immediately ask for a piece way more than their value.
Aside from the Scheifele deals (which would be fair, at this current moment), practically every major trade proposal from another team needs to have Schneider involved. Otherwise, it's an immediate insult.
If Kings fans don't want an RHD, that's fine. But Turcotte for Lundkvist is at least in the ballpark. Change of scenery trade, if you want to call it that.
But asking for K'Andre, with Turcotte's limited production to this point? Nope.

He's been good, but he hasn't really lit the world on fire in the AHL. Plus, much like Lundkvist, he's been peddled around in trade proposals here and there.
If they don't want him for Lundkvist, that's fine. But his value is definitely nowhere near K'Andre.
