Matvei Michkov
I wouldn't be worried yet about will he/won't he come stuff yet if I was a Flyers fan, even though the Briere interview certainly isn't *good* news. As for Michkov vs Leonard I think all things considered you still take Michkov, but the top of that draft was so good that it kind of was hard to go wrong -- only picks that look questionable right now are Simashev at 6, Benson at 13 instead of 6-9, Perrault at 23 instead of 8-10, and Musty 26 instead of 12-16, but everyone knew that at the time of the draft, Reinbacher at 5 also debatable but people underrate how good his draft year was.
Been some pretty remarkable D+1 years for all of the top 4 + Michkov/Leonard/Perrault/Benson though, don't really think anyone with one of those guys can complain

And Briere new about Gauthier long before they drafted Michkov. I don't think he's dumb enough to fall for that

I wanted Benson if we didn't get Michkov, But I was not upset about getting Leonard. I personally did not want Dvorksy, I didn't see his game translating well. Granted he has looked good in the OHL and international but I thought I was right on him when he struggled in the SHL at the beginning of the season

Yes Flyers are happy to roll the die. He is excited to come over. Leonard definitely has Flyers vibes about him, but we need a superstar.

Huh? The only reason they drafted him is because he made it very clear he would love to play in Philly.

As a Flyers fan, I'm perfectly ecstatic with keeping Michkov. We needed to swing for the fences there. And it's not if he's ever coming over, he IS coming over, we're just hoping sooner rather than later. He's under contract for two more years after this one so he may not be here till 2026-27 if he honors that contract.

What was the rush to sign him long-term???? Sorry but this guy is a 3rd pairing dman. Hate the risk to this.</div></div>

Pretty sure if we signed him like that it would only be a 2 year elc due to his age, so why not sign him for the rest of this season, and maybe get into a game or too.

Problem for problem
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Minimont</b></div><div>I’m just afraid of giving bad contracts since we do that a lot and we’re kinda stuck with Anderson and Gallagher</div></div>
I never get why teams sign players who've never played for the team to contracts over 3/4 years, unless they're the best players in the league like Tavares and Panarin, the amount of free agents that get 6/7 year contracts and after 2 seasons the team regrets it is crazy, that Anderson contract being a perfect example, Gallagher had been good for a while and habs fans would've been pissed if we didn't keep him, but now we're mad he's making so much and for so long. I wouldn't give anyone a contract bigger than what we signed Toffoli/Hoffman to a few years ago. The amount of money isn't the problem right now, but the term is the worst part.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Minimont</b></div><div>True, I hope we go for David Perron as a ufa. He’s low risk and has experience.</div></div>
idk, I really like Daniel Sprong as a potential 2nd/3rd line winger. He's also a UFA and only 27 y/o, and over the past 2 seasons has been scoring at a 55 point pace playing a depth role in Detroit and Seattle, I think he's worth a shot, give him a contract similar to what we gave Toffoli/Hoffman and I think we could do it

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Minimont</b></div><div>Definitely a bad trade! I just think Evans is just better and that we'll play Dvorak as our 4th center. So why not take a chance with a guy with potential</div></div>
the cap hit is way too high, not that Montreal can't afford him but there's no reason to spend money if we don't have to. Kuzy's got some awful advanced stats, and there's been rumors of personality issues in the past, don't need him rubbing off on the young guys if the rumors are true. I wouldn't take him for free, but if we send a contract back (Gallagher/Anderson/Dvorak) then I wouldn't be mad. And he's old, I don't think he'll ever be the player he was a few years ago, but I wouldn't be shocked if he became a good 2nd line scorer on a new team
