Marner For Nichushkin

But I am confident in saying that there is zero chance the Leafs retain a single penny in any theoretical trade involving Marner.</div></div>
It's similar to some post that have trading JT 50% retained. People should learn a little more about lack of cap space.

COL isn’t retaining for 6 years, this hole proposal is nonsense.

Can rob blake
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MitchJr</b></div><div>Robertson was on pace for 20 goals over full season, while only playing 11min and without any PP. He’s a cost controlled (RFA), so he’s a valuable asset - any team would take that production rate.
Tavares just put up 29 goals / 65 points and despite your criticism- he tilted the ice in Leafs favour big time. Still a very effective player that any team would take. Is he worth his cap hit? No - but neither is Doughty; he is nowhere near an $11M dman and he has three years left.
I’ll take Tavares at 1x$11M over Doughty at 3x$11M every day and twice on Sunday.</div></div>
You won’t find a bigger Robertson fan than myself, he played well for portions of the season, then it got stale, he’d be scratched, come back into the lineup and start the cycle over again. He can score goals no doubt, can he be good enough on the other side of the puck to warrant more playing time? We shall see
And agree that neither doughty or Tavares are not worth 11 million, that’s why the return in this trade isn’t worth what an 11 million dollar player would get. And for that exact reason of Doughty costing 11 million is why I say Leafs decline
Honestly it sounds like we agree here but you just didn’t understand my original reasonings lol

I don’t see or comment on every unreasonable trade posted by Leafs fans or rival fans involving the Leafs. As I said there are simply too many and it doesn’t stop them; I usually just cherry pick the most egregious.</div></div>
Gosh, they always think we care.
We don't.

Lmao why are the Leafs <em>adding?</em>
Tavares is not a negative asset and you wouldn’t like him at center anyways - he should be moving to the wing at this point in his career.
I don’t think Ullmark is getting anything more than a good pick and a prospect (from a different team). That’s not a knock on him, I’ve just never seen a goalie fetch more.

Again, just the base of the trade. Toronto really wants Markstrom they keep trying to give us Marner for him.
????? Toronto really wants Markstrom. C'mon where do come up with they stuff. Sure Leafs fans might want to trade Marner, but NMC Marner isn't waiving to Flames i

What can be the return for JT
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GuyGuyGuy</b></div><div>Unretained he is a cap dump. At 2m retained, someone might give a third for him. At 3m tho, I think he could get a first</div></div>
JT is not just a cap dump. He is a 30 goal scorer and 65+ points and adds veteran leadership to the team. His actual salary after July 1st is only $900K. So many teams that are not going to hit the cap like Chicago, Anaheim, Buffalo, Utah etc would are not worried about the cap space would trade for him easily. The question is will he wave to go to any of them.

Marner Ideas
Wouldn't want Gibson he's overpaid and overrated.
If you take the picks out of the Arizona trade they might consider it.
Calgary likely declines. Asking for Andersson is one thing, but as soon as you ask them to throw in Coleman I think they are out.
Don't want anything to do with Jones.
Fiala has a NMC and without a Marner extension I don't think LA would make that trade.
Cowan is not a prospect the Leafs are going to give up. He was the OHL MVP this year. The kid is gonna be good. I would like to stay away from Spurgeon at his age and with his injury issues regardless. Rossi would be a good add but Minnesota needs a Centre so I think the opt to keep him. IDK what Gustavsson is lol.
I think a Marner for Saros trade would be 1 for 1.
The Islanders one is interesting for sure. The Leafs wouldn't have to worry about a goalie for 8 years. Sorokin just signed an extension though and that may cause a rift between players and management.
I do think there is potentially for a Leaf-Blues trade, but I think it is more likely that the Blues offer Buchnevich before Kyrou.
Pietrangelo wont waive his NMC.

If the Leafs don't resign Marner it's because they want cap space to fill need(s). Sorokin and his new eight contract doesn't fit the Leafs needs....or maybe any team.

Chychrun to Toronto
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>StutzlesNumber1Fan</b></div><div>All very fair man. This trade is just bad for Toronto, not enough value for a dude of Marners caliber. Sens management need to change the opinion of players with making good moves, good culture, and winning mentality before dudes will be interested in coming here. Andlauer seems like he wants to win and doesn’t care about spending so hopefully the Melnyk reputation of the team gets fixed.</div></div>
Melynk and his staff certainly did spend....at least in the cap sense for the past number of years. That's one of the problems the Sens have, they are near the cap and not a playoff team.
The hasten the process of trading for DeBrincat and Chychrun costs the Sens good picks. Then the forfeiting of the first rounder doesn't help either.
Not long ago, you could have argued the Sens, Habs, Sabres and Wings were right in contention to be true contenders in the Atlantic for second half this decade. Now the Sens seemed to appear to be # 4 in that seeding, and still have to pass some of the current top four in the Atlantic.
