Too bad, because Philly is an elite offensive team when their clicking on all cylinders. Look at last season. They had several guys have career seasons. Pretty much everyone, actually. But, you can't make the playoffs nowadays w/ terrible goaltending. Look at STL: If they had average goaltending, they'd be one of the best teams in the West.

Flyers new mascot- GRITTY!
I thought it was pretty dumb at first, but then seeing how it's Twitter account played along with it's total ridiculousness I grew to love it. Probably one of my favorite mascots in all of sports.
I mean, just look at those eyes.

Ten biggest misconceptions on CapFriendly
1.All upcoming UFAs are going to be traded for full playing value because the players are going to forego free agency, and teams are going to agree to a trade. This happens so rarely but somehow we are going to see a slew of these deals with Ottawa pulling off three.....Duchene, Karlsson and Stone. Habs...Pacieoretty
2. ALL good players coming off their ELC, want to sign long term contracts.
3. All teams HAVE to sign their good players to long term contracts
4. Trouba HAS to traded, cause he going to be a UFA in two years
5. Doesn't matter how good/bad a player is, RHD are infinitely better than any left handed Dmen who happen to play the right side.
6. Players that have NMC or NTC can be traded, because MY team wants cap space.
7. Bad contracts can be traded just for picks because MY team wants cap space.
8. Players on LTIR , cripple a teams ability to spend to the cap.
9. What players or team officials say in public is true, especially when it comes to their contract negotiations
10. Long term minor leaguers have significant NHL trade value.

Cody Ceci is Insane
I will say this — he realistically knows he isn’t getting $6M. He’s most likely trying to start negotiations as high as he can, to hope when they “meet in the middle” it’s as high as possible. But that doesn’t change the fact that this is a ridiculous starting point

Which team is in the worst situation right now?
Chicago is going to continue to get worse for some time now, but they still have a strong fan base and some solid young talent.
A year ago I would have voted Detroit but after the additions of Zadina, Veleno, etc things are looking nicer, although it still looks as if Holland is trying to keep this team a contender.
The Isles did just lose the face of the franchise but with a strong prospect pool, a GM who understands rebuilding, a Stanley Cup Coach, and this teams situation becomes less depressing.
Horrid GM, horrid contracts, weak prospect pool, the Habs are going to be bad for a while, but at least the fan base is strong.
And lastly we arrive at the Ottawa Senators.... Some nice prospects, and some really good players. However, the team can't even sell out seats during the ECF, the best player to ever wear their jersey is leaving, Mark Stone is probably taking a 1 year deal and then booking it, Duchene is gone asap, the owner is terrible, the GM is terrible, and the team is littered with bad contracts. It can't get much worse.

Ottawa doesn't have many prospects, no first round pick, a cheap owner. Could it get any worse.

(MTL / ARI) - Domi for Galchenyuk
Here are two players who are left-wingers, but who are very different in style of play:
Alex Galchenyuk is a good scorer, who has a heck of a one-timer and who will be very useful for the Arizona Coyotes on the power play. Their power play was 26th in the league. Montreal was 13th. Hopefully Galchenyuk will unlock their power play. He is also a talented setup man. However, he has defensive shortcomings and as a center (and a left-winger), he was prone to bad turnovers.
This is where Max Domi comes in. He is stronger on the forecheck and is a better playmaker. He fits more in their culture.
In the end, both teams got what they wanted. It's just that they both have too many left wingers and they still have a lot to fix.
WE'LL SEE !!!

Fire whoever is doing the scheduling of the games. every game starts at 2 AM here which is a huge hassle, game 1 of the SCF scheduled with game 7 in the NBA, 3 day brakes instead of 2 weekend games.. the list goes on and on. the NHL is so horrible at marketing itself it's not even funny anymore.

Curious to hear new ideas for NHL
I don't agree that the salaries of the player should be smaller. The players earn what they bring into the company - after all, these teams are companies competing for dollar votes with other teams.
I would really love if the salary cap was still in place, but eliminating the AAV regulations allowing players to make tons of money in a year - say 20M.
I also love the idea of eliminating the salary cap and imposing a luxury tax that goes towards various league wide overhead and the player safety department.
