MTL-TRADE
Its a pass on the Penguins trade but its not a hard pass. Remove our first this year and your third and it would be very hard to say no. Bjugstads contract only has 1 year left at 4.1 Mil, Domi isnt worth Poulin our first and a 1 year Bjugstad dump.

He'll likely be around the $2.5M-3M range on a 3-4 year deal. That's my best guess anyway.
Guerin is already on record stating he wants to resign Soucy and keep him on the team.
Given that other teams may come sniffing around for him, I wouldn't be surprised if he got $3x4 to keep him here.

Winnipeg steals that deal. In what world is Petterson a bottom pairing D? Hes a very solid top 4 guy, and both the advanced stats and the eye test would back that up. man, you must really hate the pens based off your history of uninsightful comments.

letang had a very good year despite being paired with JJ for 44.8% of his even strength minutes. pens would be foolish to move letang. if they moved letang, they may as well trade Malkin, Zucker, Rust, etc.. as well because it would be signalling you are blowing things up. you dont trade a #1D on a good contract when you're still trying to contend

Pretty sure it was Yohe in the Athletic that interviewed GMJR. He said he has full authorization from management to spend to the cap as long as they're competitive, which they almost certainly will be. Sounds as though they might start the season a couple million under the cap, but just swapping Bjugstad for someone like Pateryn from MIN (which has been done on here a lot) accomplishes the necessary savings. In this, I'm assuming Bjugstad/ZAR start on LTIR and Bjugstad is swapped once he's healthy

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>edeangel84</b></div><div>Do you not believe the two players I have playing with Sid can score more than 40 goals? Sid made Guentzel and Sheary. Obviously Sheary has been exposed since and Jake has proven he can play but do you think he’s ever sniffing 40 goals again when he’s not playing with 87? I think two first round wingers in their early 20s with Sid is dangerous, not to mention Malkin getting Zucker and Rust as linemates. Kunin gives us another RH shot in the top six. Singing Haula gives us an actual 3rd line C unlike McCann who’s a LW and he’s great at face offs. The blue line is better. Marino will improve and Shattenkirk can score around 40 points playing the kind of minutes Letang logs. Gustafsson and Montour would be a second pair on most teams. Then you get Greiss as a reliable 1B to Jarry. This team isn’t going out in round one</div></div>
no one does, and Sid didn't make Jake. Jake was a great goal scorer before he ever played with Sid. He lit up the WBS and Nebraska all on his very own. He didn't need anyone to carry him.

the difference in talent from 10 to 15 is minimal.
And at no point does trading a 40 goal winger help this team.

Your not going to get it, especially with Rutherford's decision to keep your 1st this year. If we still had the 15th ova then I could see a scenario where it would be the 2020 instead of the 21. This years draft is too good and too deep into the 2nd round for us to consider giving that up with only a single 1st rounder and no 3rd this year.
Instead I'd upgrade the player going back to Pittsburgh to either Greenway or Donato. The Wild have too many LW's and Hartman despite the lower line play is more important and a RHS which we don't have too many of.

why do you continue to try to pretend click bait has any factual basis behind it. There are no "rumours" for Murray and Andersen. There is a guy who knows he can rile up Leafs fans and watch him gain all kinds of click and ad money.
Just stop feeding into this sheep cycle.
There is no point at all in the penguins obtaining Andersen. None.
They have 2 goalies if they trade Murray. And Murray is much easier to trade for assets whatever than Andersen who will be 31 years old.

And if there is a flip that makes sense why not propose a three way trade?
The Anderson trades are just as silly as the JJ trades we propose.</div></div>
1. Freddy has more value, so the rumour goes
2. It is not a 3 way trade. Pens would flip him is a seperate trade.
3. JJ is a pure cap dump.
It sure does seem pointless to me.

you are probably right. even with Malkin habs still probably dont win the cup, so both teams say no. mute point trade

like I would 100% rather embrace a full rebuild and trade absolutely everyone rather than be a mediocre team for another year and barely make the playoffs. The Pens motto should be to go for it until it is no longer physically possible to do so. Crosby/Malkin/Letang/Jake is still one of the best cores in the NHL. We can get another cup out of this group with the right offseason moves. This is the biggest test of Rutherfords career. He has to retool this team and inject a young, speedy forward to ride shotgun with Crosby on the right side, stabilize the 3rd line with a proper 3C, fix the dreaded bottom pairing D, figure out the goalie situation, and shed the dead weight of Hornqvist/Johnson/JJ

Offseason with the Murray trade rumor
I'm no PIT fan, but why do they do that?
Anderson, has poor value right now after the poor playoffs and pretty pedestrian year, and oh yeah, hes a 5mil UFA.
I think hes taking the load of blame right now even though the entire team was pretty mediocre all year long, forwards don't forecheck/backcheck, defense is weak, the firewagon offense system is flawed, but Anderson is by far the best goalie in the system and don't think you get a goalie of equal talent/ability straight up in trade.
If anything they trade Anderson for peanuts and use his monies to pick up a UFA goalie. (The point being what team is desperate in the OFF season to trade for an older 5mil UFA goalie, when theres similar in UFA).
And while I like the UFA signings for their defensive ability, size and grit, none of those deals are even close to market value (Gudas goes from 3mil+ to 1mil? Engelland doesn't retire to VGS and signs for 700k?)
