Honestly the only team that wouldn't have benefited from taking JT at the deadline are the ones that are holding the cup above their heads at the end of this. He has had a career year for the Canucks that has landed him in Top 10 in the NHL not playing with 10+M line mate. if he does go and I hope he doesn't he will be going for full price

FYI Brock is getting min 7.5M or less with a 8yr contract so probably 7.5M</div></div>

I agree with this statement.

Can't see how the Canucks would decline this trade if it were on the table. Necas is a good young player with high potential who's age fits in with the current cores. Morrow is projected to be a top 4 RD, Bear could step in right now and take a spot on Vancouver's right D side, and the pick although late is a 1st rounder is in a deep draft. The team isn't a playoff team right now and doesn't have the cap space or assets to become a contender for years to come. In my opinion, adding young impact pieces to the core is the only way this team becomes a contender in the next 3-4 years.

No but fair

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>Hoffman has played 42 games and Zucker has played 31. Zucker is a far superior player in every other aspect of the game than Hoffman and it's not even close.</div></div>

Hoffman is getting paid to score goals only, because yes he sucks at everything else

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>Lehkonen is worth a 2nd at best.</div></div>

The chance a 2nd RD pick make it too the NHL is 20%, the chance he becomes as good as Lehkonen is what 5% ? Plus he won’t be as good as Lehkonen for at least 4-5 years. So no, he is worth way more than a 2nd RD pick

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pensfan89</b></div><div>If he was worth what that other commenter said, Lehkonen would have been traded by now lol.</div></div>

Never said he is worth that, that would be the price but no GMs are ready to pay that much

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>MTL fans haven't learned from the Toffoli trade. They're delusional about Lehkonen.</div></div>

Toffoli was not fitting MTL so it didn’t need an overpay to move him. Lehkonen is a RFA and fits the team in every aspect. Age, level of compete, speed, etc. Might go for less than what I suggest, but that would be my bias opinion (he’s my favorite player so that doesn’t help).

-I can't see Chicago trading a recent 3OA pick who's still just 21 years old for a cap dump, a mid tier prospect that's actually a year older than Dach, and a late 1st.

-You *might* get Dumba for Drouin retained &amp; the Edmonton 2nd; you're going to have to add a lot to get their 1st. They can get a dozen better offers if they made Dumba available for trade.

-Weber to Arizona makes sense, I just think 34 OA is too rich a price to pay for the Coyotes. Set your sights lower.

-I can't see Philadelphia unloading a top 5 pick just to get 1 year of JVR off their books. He rebounded enough to put in 24 goals this season so he's still somewhat useful, and he's only being paid $5M against a $7M cap hit. I could see a cap floor team just absorbing his deal for a 3rd/4th rounder, or the Flyers just keep him and flip him out with 50% retention at the deadline. Unless the Flyers are going to be completely unrealistic, I think they realize they need at least a retool and trading a top 5 pick would be lunacy when they don't *need* to clear that cap space.

-The Rangers, however, do need to be mindful of their cap constraints this summer and even though this is an overpay, I think they look to re-sign Ryan Strome or Andrew Copp before they downgrade to Dvorak.

-Somehow this is worse than the Philly trade? You've now taken the 5th overall pick and Jeff Petry and sent them both to Dallas for an okay-to-good prospect and a 36 year old goalie coming off hip surgery that, in the best case scenario, has him back and moving around in late September.

-Rangers probably take that deal - every sign points to them moving on from Georgiev, and last I heard Kravstov wasn't gonna come back for them, so getting a few chances at ELC players on a team that needs them is a win for both sides.

-I can see the logic in this trade - but if I'm Bill Armstrong I'd probably want to have another mid-round pick coming along with that package.

Let's look at the draft trade values then - I'm going to reference Dom @ The Athletic's draft pick value chart as a guideline - there's not a ton else out there assigning easily digestible point values to picks. Also doing a quick look at recent draft pick trades, the team moving up always gives up a little more value than the team trading back, so we'll always assume Montreal is sacrificing pick value to move up.

Calgary (27 OA = 3.2 GSVA) + Carolina (worst case is 32 OA = 2.8 GSVA) for Washington (20 OA = 4.0) has a lot of surplus value for Washington but I also couldn't see 27 &amp; 32 getting you into the lottery, so it's a safe pick to target. Maybe Washington throws back a 3rd rounder to even it out?

So now you have 20OA (4.0) going to Vancouver for 15OA (4.9). The difference between the two picks would be equivalent to a mid/late 2nd rounder; I think that Jake Allen with $1M retained *might* equal that value - except for the fact that I don't think it makes a ton of sense for Vancouver to acquire him when they already have Thatcher Demko starting 60-65 games next year and Spencer Martin ready to clean up the last 15 or so. For the sake of argument, though, I'll call this fair.

Now you're making a HUGE jump - 15OA (4.9 GSVA) to 2OA (12.3). The difference in value between those picks is equal in value to the 7th overall pick, which leads me to this question: if you had the 7th overall pick, would *you* trade it for Jesse Ylonen &amp; Josh Anderson? It's an insane underpay for the Devils - you are going to need to do much better than someone from your second tier of prospects and an overpaid winger with that much term left.
