The variants are nothing to fool around with! These things are wiping out young healthy people and the governments don't seem to care.

Even if Nylander wins the hart people will be roasting him and wanting to run him out of town.

dont speak for the rest of the leaf fanbase cause not all feel it was a mistake to sign him
He is still a 30+ goalscorer when healthy, a faceoff specialist and a tap in king
islanders to this day still be missing his goal scoring as despite having Barzel they got no top tier supertstar true pair top 30+ goalscoring center.

Why trading Nylander is stupid
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Miles_Togo</b></div><div>I like them both. They are both great players. Marner has more AAV, but likely far fewer teams that would agree to taking his contract without retention. I don't think that either will be traded, and managing to get a good enough return would be difficult. Regardless, this team will not win the cup with 4 forwards taking up half the cap.</div></div>
I want to start off by saying that I don't think Marner is getting traded. That said, if there were ever a time Marner could be traded, between now and the next 3 years is a very good time.
Why? Because as with 90% of the Leafs roster, most of Marner's contract is paid via signing bonuses and that's very important right now and probably for the next few years thanks to what COVID has done not just to the NHL but the world at large.
Too often here and perhaps other places people get caught up on salary cap numbers and how it affects any given team's situation. Owners don't care about cap hits or any cap numbers, that's something they leave GMs and capologists to figure out.
If an owner can save money (especially right now) they will because money talks and right now NHL owners are not making very much of it.

My money is on a Kadri win by submission, he's a fair bit bigger height and weight wise.

Big 4 Staying one more year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Capitalfail67</b></div><div>look at boston. they are a great example. Oilers went to the WCF i believe. look at thw Hawks when they won their cups.... players got paid after they won.. there actually a lot of examples.. players should get paid after they win ... makes the most sense.</div></div>
For the sake of a salary cap argument, sure, they're both paid as much or more than their comparables.
Re: Chicago, in 2010, when Kane and Toews both signed $6.3 mil extensions, the cap was $59.4 mil. That's 10.6% of the cap each. Both of those extensions were signed in December 2009, before they won their first cup. Not exactly a discount, considering it was their first deals post ELC. Connor signed his extension after their trip to the semi finals. They haven't made the conference finals in a long 'ol while.
As for Boston, looking at them today, they're all fairly team-friendly. Bergeron's extension was around 10% of the cap. Pasta resigned when he had .68 ppg (Nylander was .72 when he resigned, with a higher salary cap).
At the end of the day, my assumption is that Dubas was fine giving out deals that were slightly over the 10% range because league-wide assumption had the cap growing to $85-87 mil for next season.

A defensive leafs 2020-21
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Onslaught77</b></div><div>Honestly, The pens are in rebuild territory if they realise it or not. I would agree because they wouldn't be hiring a goaltender when 75% of their team is 28 or older many of them have some variation of NMC or NTC. Most of those pieces are signed until 2022 and many well beyond that. There are a lot of pieces on the decline on this team. They need a full or partial rebuild and a goaltender isn't going to change that. The back to back cups are in the past and only major retooling will change that.</div></div>
Ya Marino is 23 and a top pairing D. He's not going anywhere. He is probably one of the few pieces that can/should make it through a rebuild. If he is going its for a really solid of pics and prospects and that is no time soon.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jadamski</b></div><div>Pitt says yes if some salary is retained. willy is not worth his contract</div></div>
? not worth his contract.....WHAT
68 games played 31 goals 28 assists. Not to mention the kids only 24 and will only get better. He is the leaf next to Matthews and Tavares I could see reaching 40 goals. So if he isnt worth his contract than 90% of the players signed rn in the NHL arent worth their contracts.

Why would we trade a younger wing for an older one. Nylander is only going to get better with time and could one day reach the 50 goal mark.
That marner trade is a pass along with the manson one
