Thanks for Granlund Hextall you bum
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pensman69</b></div><div>Guys can we at least be reasonable given the circumstances</div></div>
Reasonable in what way? These Karlsson trade packages some ACGMs are doing are just silly.. Petry and Granlund plus picks/prospects AND 3.5 retained by SJ…
I think this is reasonable, sending out Granlund is the last major piece Dubas needs to play.
Moving him out frees up space under the cap for maybe one more bottom six player if he wants or he can hold that cap space for the trade deadline.
Granlund had over 40 points last year. He just didn’t fit in a system he was traded to, that doesn’t mean he’s not a serviceable player, he has talent in the right spot. A second round pick is what he was acquired for so that should be equally enough to send him out.
I think that’s pretty reasonable.

I aint hear no bell
So the pens absolutely cannot trot Jarry and DeSmith back out there as the goalie duo. Jarry can’t stay healthy, and DeSmith cannot shoulder the load for an extended period of time to fill in for his absence, this has killed the team for several straight seasons. A goalie change is an absolute must for Dubas.
Washington is not trading Wilson to Pittsburgh for anything less than an absurd fleecing.
Donato and Engvall are good pieces that I think Dubas will pursue, but that Barbashev contract is way less than he’s going to get especially after his performance in the playoffs this year. He’s a must pursue for the pens though, would be a great add for the middle six but he will be more expensive than that at his age for that amount of time.
This team is over the cap anyway, it will cost more to offload Grandlund and the DeBrincat thing.. honestly think it’s going to cost way more than that to his rights. He would be a great add for this team but the Pens don’t have the capital to pull something like that off.

Roster Shakeup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JSEB93</b></div><div>It's not that I don't think the Pens wouldn't like Schiefele - I was more leaning towards they wouldn't like what they're paying. If Schiefele is available I have no issues with them taking a look</div></div>
I see what you mean. I think Sullivan would appreciate getting back to the center strong position, solidify the depth there, have a great option on the second PP and have a good skating and playmaking 3C. All the usual suspects are being tossed around and it’s looking like big changes in WPG, wonder if this might be an interesting trade target. Now I may have over inflated his worth, but something like this would be able to pry the guy from there and put him in a better position for next season. Does Scheifele want to put one more season into a team looking to rebuild right now? Some of those guys that have been there for a while might be in the same boat with WPG. Interesting thoughts for armchair season

Roster Shakeup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JSEB93</b></div><div>I don't see how the Jets say no to that - actually seems like an overpay imo. I'd ask for half retention at least. I'm not sure if the Pens would like this trade though.
I don't see how AZ passes up that offer either. But again - I think the Pens do.
Hawks probably decline. And that's probably a good thing for the Pens if your alternative is to sign Klingberg to that terrible contract.
Sharks say no. Ducks say maybe.</div></div>
Ok, I altered the trade slightly, ease the cap issue, minor cap retention, also like that hit at least for the 1 season on his contract left

Understand the logic but perennial 40 goal scorers that we know click with the playing styles of both of your star centers aren’t available out there at a gettable price. There are some good puck moving defenseman out there that won’t cost the farm to obtain.

Meh, I threw a 3rd in there. Maybe he doesn’t, take a 4th then. Dubas could work some magic.

It’s way too much for a goalie, let alone Gibson… also, Bunting’s going to get paid, easily between 4-6

While I don’t think Zucker takes that contract, and I don’t think Gibson is better than Jarry, I do kinda like the look of that 3rd line. You might be on to something there.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheRealisticGuy</b></div><div>The disrespect on my guy Ryan Poehling, but Zucker will probably be back and they could sign one of Barbashev or Bertuzzi</div></div>
I like Poehling, he’s got the one thing the Penguins need: speed.. just have to work on his hands. He had a number of clear breakaways that he was unable to finish. Reminds me of a young Pascal Dupuis!
I think they move on from Zucker, I loved his energy but he’s going to cash in, he earned a big paycheck this year and I don’t think Dubas ponies up. Bertuzzi’s going to sign an inflated contract somewhere. I want Dubas to go after Barbashev, really enjoying his play and I think he fits a need the team has.

No way the Pens make that trade.. Guentzel is the best pure goal scorer they have on the team. I believe Dubas extends his contract. They also have zero LW depth after him too.

New year
Garland’s an interesting piece but no chance for a one to one trade with Granlund there… Graves and Bertuzzi are both going to get inflated contracts, if the Pens had a chance with either I’d go with Graves, but there will be a lot of interest in him. Your best sign here is Haula, if New Jersey doesn’t resign him.. I think he’ll go between 3-3.5 per.

Pens
I can get on board with the UFA signs, however I don’t like the trades mostly because they are unrealistic.. even with sweeping changes in Winnipeg there’s no chance they retain money on Hellebuyck AND dump Lowry for Pettersson as the only NHL player there even with the first rounder and No incentive for Boston to pitch the steadiness of Grzelcyk for the uncertainty of Rutta. Suter’s your best sign here.
