As an Anaheim fan, I'd like to get more for Rakell (Bjorkqvist), but as a realist I think you may have got his value absolutely right. (The return for Rakell should be different from the return for Stone because the latter was a UFA and the former is signed for two more years at a great cap hit which doesn't require Pittsburgh to make any other moves to acquire him.)</div></div>
Even in addition I would still do it. I think Rakell is worth it.

Stone wasn't signed to a great contract and is probably the better player, but I'm still in agreement with you and bigZ. I'm just expecting that the be the counter argument. I think the conditional pick that could become a 1st if another cup comes to Pittsburgh is reasonable. I'd be willing to give up 2 1sts for another cup.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Letsgopens67</b></div><div>Would love Rakell, and would definitely be willing to give up that package for him. I wonder how Ducks fans would feel about this trade? Certainly a roster player could be thrown in as well (i.e. Galchenyuk or Bjugstad) and the Ducks could flip them for assets at the deadline as well.</div></div>
For sure. From what I've seen others say those 2 would have negative value to the Ducks so I kept it as pure futures. I have to assume Galchenyuk gets moved at some point. I'm not sure for what, but when Kahun comes back I wouldn't have him in the top 12 with how he's been compared to everyone else.

I think Miller would be a great add for the 3rd pair RD and at least 2nd PP. He ran Vegas's PP pretty well and at 3.875 for 2 more years he's a good, cheaper replacement for Schultz who can then be trade bait to shore up other areas of the roster, or just bring back picks.

Yeah. Post Office Joe will hopefully grow into a solid player. It would be nice if Galchenyuk could mesh with anyone on the team and help out though.

Hey when you put it like that it sounds bad. Let's say it's a guy with no goals and 6 assists for a dman that had 41 points pretty recently. That sounds better.

Well at this point I'll be shocked if the Pens re-sign him so there's a good chance he'll be available. But there's still time for him to turn it around in Pitt. They've barely played any games with a full lineup and won't any time soon. I don't know if they'll give up on him as quickly as I have, but he just hasn't shown me anything for more than a couple shifts at a time.

I feel like that's a reasonable price given what other goalies have gotten. He certainly has his flaws, but he was one of the best goalies in the league from December on last year and also won 2 cups so that'll probably drive his price up. My fear is that he'll have a great year and then JR will sign him to an 8x9 contract or something stupid.

Yeah I could certainly see the hesitation. I'm just of the opinion that he's not completely on the decline. Buffalo probably isn't the team to take him on though given that they have Okposo already though. I'm just not ready to write him off. His production went up from 16-17 to 17-18 before take a bigger hit this year, so I wouldn't yet say his production "keeps going down", but there's concerns for sure.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wojme</b></div><div>Could prolly get similar production out of tage at a fraction of the cost</div></div>
Possible, but I don't necessarily believe that Hornqvist will completely drop off like a lot of people do and Thompson hasn't shown a whole lot at the NHL level yet so I would be surprised if he's able to match the production. I still think it's a stretch for Buffalo to take on that long term salary given the RFAs they need to re-sign in a few years though.

My two concerns with this were the retention and whether Buffalo would be willing take on long term salary give how many RFAs they have in the next couple years that will command big money (Reinhart, Middelstadt, Montour after this year; Dahlin after the next). I also agree that the Pens probably won't retain that much, but it might be the only way to rid themselves of that contract. Maybe they can get away with retaining 750k or so instead and save a little? Either way they're gaining some space for next offseason with some key players to re-sign since Gagner is a UFA and JP will be cheaper, but it'll still be tight. I was just trying to do something a little different to have some fun.

Fixing Rutherfords mistakes
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gregb569</b></div><div>Murray + 1st > Fluery + 4th
Guds is not worth a 2nd and 6th, maybe a 3rd at BEST, realistically probably a 4th or 5th
Still doesn't fix JR's mistakes though... we still have Tanev signed for too much too long, JJ, the Brassard fiasco, trading for Reaves, etc</div></div>
The acquisition of Brassard was a great move on paper. It didn't work out, but I won't say that was a Rutherford mistake either. And getting McCann and Bjugstad back in the deal to send him out was pretty good too. I agree with everything else you said though.

I think Schultz can fill some of Ghost's offense while playing a solid 2way game. People tend to forget how great Schultz was in the cup runs (IMO).</div></div>
Yeah that's fair. I'd certainly take Prov over Ghost. We'll see what Pettersson does this year. I liked what I saw of him last year and hope he can turn into a Dumo-esque player.

It would be nice to get Ghost in there somehow. I'm not sure if the team is better for it, but you could swap out Laughton for Blueger, who I think is the only cheaper center option, and then Pettersson for Ghost. Tough to argue with your decisions though.

4)Nurse</div></div>
Martinez is actually a lefty, but typically does play the right side I believe. But I would assume he wouldn't have a big problem switching to what should be his natural side.

That's a tougher one. My Pens bias is going to make me say Malkin, but Kane is close. The way I view it is that Malkin is the closest to Lemieux in this generation with his skill and size where he'll just power through basically full teams to take over. Kane has some of the quickest hands in the world and can stickhandle through a whole team. I don't know if I've really given an answer at this point, but I stand by it all.
