How so? Gardiner is arguably the 4th best LHD on the team and will walk asa UFA in the spring. Kadri is a #2 offensive C who is miscast as a shutdown 3rd line player making 4.5 mil. Spurgeon is a #1-2 and is arguably better than Reilly. Glendening and Foligno provide needed grit and shutdown acumen, and both have term, both, both for the same price as Kadri alone. Leafs stregthen their top four D and their bottom 6. But, yes,...somehow thats worse.

Yes, you sir are correct! But, i think Nylander (Brian Burke and others have suggested as well) gets moved in the offseason, as he's arguably the 3rd best RW on the team with the emergence of Kapanen (who they can bridge at lower cap hit). I do however think its more likley that they look at a rental depth D like McQuad or someone similar with their extra 4th rounder and B prospect.

The best deal for the canes will be when the Leafs are pressured to make a move, and that time isn’t now.</div></div>
I am pretty sure that its been reported that theyve already discussed this and the only reason it hasnt happened is because the Leafs didnt wanna give up a roster player like Kap or Johnson. I do think this is highly unlikely, but this is a fantasy site, but both teams are lacking a player like this on both sides to make them better. Brown for TVR is more of a prudent scenario, but, i dont think it moves the needle.

3pt Series - This TDL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Juice</b></div><div>I like Gardiner a lot...I think he's severely underappreciated in this market. I also prefer to keep pending UFA's as our own rentals when making a playoff run.
TBH it certainly wouldn't be necessary and might not even make sense....but if Babcock is going to keep playing Hainsey on the top pairing with Rielly and Muzzin as 2LHD...I think there's an argument there to let Dermott stay as 3LHD and acquire assets for Gardiner</div></div>
Totally agree, I think optimally; Reilly, Muzzin and Dermot on the Left side, and pick up 2 RHD if possible. I really can't imagine Leafs management being comfortable going into a playoff series with say; Boston, with Gardiner and Zaitsev back there.

Really, Kap for Larsson straight up? Id prefer that. I like Liljegrin. I think Kap is one of a short list of players that can keep up with MacDavid.

Normally i would agree, though Ottawa needs some help to get to the cap floor (13mil approx.) they may be wise to trade the dead weight of LTIR lifers like a; Gaborik or MacArthur for an actual player (regardless of the percentage covered by insurance), just a thought.

As i said above, just a framework, Im actually curious from a Canes fan perspective what you think would be fair value for TVR? I really liked the guy when i watched him play for Chicago, and his contract makes the most sense for the Leafs (Pesce does too, but the ask is higher).

His contract is 80% covered, but, you could always swap in Gaborik's contract. Either way, even without the salary LTIR dump, the Sens could use Zaitsev.

Browns rfa contract is up after next year, its already been reported by every insider that its likely he and Zaitsev are the cap casualties for next year. All three of the players coming back in that trade are under contract this year and next, and slot Ennis or Lindholm instead of Marchement, i just like his energy.
I cant tell you how sorry I am that I never properly put the Pesce trade together completely. I hope youre ok.
