The Team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mv21227</b></div><div>Why would Chicago give up two 2nds when they are rebuilding and taking on contracts with more term?</div></div>
Because they need players like Marchment and Dvorak to create some kind of team chemistry. Chicago needs to be competitive much sooner with Bedard in the lineup.
Too many unrestricted free agents at the end of the next season.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Twaaminik</b></div><div>Why do Montreal give up more to take Campbell’s contract</div></div>
Campbell must drop his no-trade clause before reaching an agreement and Edmundson's contract is also on the line. That's why Montreal will pay a little bit more.

I can do it
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>There's a better chance that the five-years-younger Cal Petersen plays better next year than 33-year-old Jake Allen -- 3.55 GAA and 0.891 Save % is hardly "a goaltender who can play in the NHL" at any reasonable level. For the last two seasons, Allen has been below back-up standards. And his buyout in 2024 is actually a little bit worse than Petersen's.
Gallagher is a non-starter. End of story.</div></div>
You convinced me. You made some very good points. This couldn't be a done deal just by the facts and the stats. Thanks !

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Ha, Ha, No. Allen's cap hit is exactly the same as Petersen's if we send Cal to Ontario, so that's a lateral transfer and we're not paying a dime extra for it. Now on top of that you want us to give you a first-round draft pick AND take on half of Gallagher's contract, which is one of the five worst contracts in the NHL?!?!?
I don't think so.</div></div>
If Montreal adds a prospect in the trade maybe it will make more sense ? But I'm sure LA would rather pay a goaltender who can play in the NHL than another one who cannot. The $3 850 000, it's a pure loss for MTL but they could manage it with the LTIR salary cap of Carey Price.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mv21227</b></div><div>I can’t see why LA does that deal. They don’t get cap space and Allen isn’t much of an upgrade on Petersen</div></div>
Petersen is buried, he will never play again in the NHL only in the minor league for the rest of his contract. If a team wants him, he will be available on waivers soon as possible after the trade is made. The trade is an arrangement for both teams. I guess but I could be wrong.

Big Job
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mv21227</b></div><div>Garland is a good 2nd liner. They should keep him
I don’t think Myers is overrated because pretty much everybody knows he’s bad, but I’d rather keep him because he has 1 year left instead of taking multiple years of Dvorak and Armia</div></div>
Maybe my trade proposal is not what they are looking for these players (Myers and Garland)... Well, I tried but one thing is sure. The Canucks are ready to do something big.

Wideman and the 4th doesn’t make up the difference. Canucks pass easily</div></div>
Garland and Myers, I think they are overrated. Garland is a third line player and Myers a bottom 4 on the blue line. They have both an important impact on the salary cap and Canucks will not receive the moon for them.

I forgot to mention in the trade CHI-MTL Montreal retained 50% of the Gallagher salary for all years of his contract.

Pittsburgh New Era
If I change Kuznetsov for Oshie in the Pittsburgh-Washington deal, is it more fair ?
Oshie, Mantha and a 3rd round pick for Carter, Granlund and Petry. I'm on the target price with that one. I think... too bad if it's not yet close to having a deal.

Are you sure about that ? Maybe the 2024 first round pick is too much, but adding a 2nd round pick could do the job of sealing the deal. I like the Minnesota Wild but not that much... LOL

Bad enough to be good
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>Montreal isn't taking Vlasic and Johnsson for that and you haven't compensated us for Anderson yet either. This is the worst joke ever on this site</div></div>
My trade proposal is not the worst joke ever, the purpose was to find a way to free up space on each team's salary cap. It's not an easy task and sometimes a team like the Montreal Canadiens has to make choices like receiving a bad contract (Vlasic) in exchange for an unprotected 2024 1st round pick from San Jose. Well, I tried to gauge what could be done for each team situation. That's all !
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>glarson17</b></div><div>What a god awful trade for San Jose my god</div></div>
Mike Grier will be happy to get some cap space from the departure of the Vlasic's contract, receiving a second overall draft pick (Nemec) and also a top-15 first round pick in 2023 from Florida. It's not perfect, I'm agree but it's not a god awful trade for San Jose.
