Leafs cap compliant without selling low on Kerfoot
Imagine trading Nylander to fit Kerfoot in. 🤭

C’mon man, you’ve got to give something up of value. Canes picks carry a much lower value than other teams.
Unless Patrick Kane publicly says he only wants to come to the Canes (unlikely) - you’re looking at valuable prospects or young players going the other way.

Might be Kerfoot plus a 3rd and a 6th to Columbus for an autographed Rick Nash poster.

From the Leafs perspective, the holes in Brannstrom's defensive game during a time where they are trying to win a cup (or even a round lol) will just make him the whipping boy on this team.
I think he has the potential to be a good NHLer and he is showing good development but I think Toronto isn't the spot</div></div>
Good point about Toronto's scrutiny. Not a market for a young guy trying to establish himself. Way too much pressure, although we don't know, maybe he thrives under pressure.
And no worries, I wasn't referring to you when I said "bust label"... it's a term that has been thrown around though... but busts usually don't have 116 NHL games played by the end of their 22 y/o season, especially D-men

Miller
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>QualityTrades1</b></div><div>Obviously I want to yell at you for putting Miller in 3C but you told me I can't so I won't.
I like the trade. Top prospect, 1st round pick (though I believe it should be unprotected but whatever), another quality prospect and a couple position / cap exchanges.
My only concern is Sandin signing for only 1.25M. Don't you think it would have already been a done-deal if he was willing to sign for that much?
Either way the Leafs are fine since you can slot Muzzin on the left with Schenn on the right and sign / bring up a depth guy.
quick side note:
Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Miller - Tavares - Nylander
Engvall - Kampf - Jarnkrok
Robertson - Gaudette - Aube-Kubel
Right?</div></div>
Thanks for being the first person to ever read one of my descriptions. You the real MVP <3
I think 2 years 1.4m is fair for Sandin. Same as Lily. He wants more cap. So I can see a 3 year x 2m happening. But in this AGM I did a one year contract (which would be lower cap than 2 year, since you project a young player like that to get better every year). So I fell on 1.25m for 1 year. basically the team and the player can't agree on anything and they settle for a 1 year, show me type of contract. I tend to be off on a lot of my RFA signings though. I find them hard to predict.
As for your lines - I can definitely see those being the case. The only change is that I would be SHOCKED if Gaudette beats out all the other candidates for that 4th line centre spot. Steeves, McMann, Malgin will all be in the mix. I also think Joey Anderson will have a legit shot at making the team this year as well (although he is a winger). Time will tell though.
I could also see the Leafs signing a guy like Stepan for that 4th line centre role.
We will see!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>QualityTrades1</b></div><div>Also, I definitely believe Anderson and Armia have positive value on any team given their style of play, and I do believe any team looking to make a playoff run would be glad to have them.
However, for a team to take 2 players totaling almost 9M in cap space until 2025 while expecting them to give a 1st and a young RHD is pretty ludicrous.
Most teams that are ready to push for the playoffs would rather give those assets up for more quality acquisitions with less term and the teams that need to fill out their rosters with NHL players (see Arizona), would most likely not be giving a 1st or a young RHD IMO.
Thoughts?</div></div>
I never mentioned trading Armia. I said Dvorak & Anderson. I believe it would be 2 trades to 2 isolated teams. Maybe Minny, Washington or Colorado for Dvorak. Maybe Philly or Edmonton for Anderson. Habs would need to take salary and possibly terms back on bad contracts. Unless they find a deal like Anderson for Risto 1-for-1

Hi. So Seattle is just a team with cap space. I actually would love to see a trade to Philly for Risto (though most of my fellow Habs fans think Risto is crap and overpaid and most Philly fans think Anderson is crap and overpaid... So maybe it's a bad deal. I think it helps both teams). To be clear I posted Seattle because there are not a ton of Seattle fans on this site and I wanted to hear general comments and not the comments of a specific team's fans.

Yup. While I think Dadonov is an underrated player and can still help a team, he'd have to be on a torrid pace to get a 1st which is pretty unlikely. He's been consistently a 45ish point player for the last three years. If he's putting up those numbers again then I think a 2nd or 3rd depending on the trade market.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AG_sweden</b></div><div>I don't think Chytil will get you much of a return. It is hard to grow players on the third line. This is if I was GM. So if you disagree be happy I am not GM for real then.
Secondly it creates roster spots and cap space. So not that unnecessary</div></div>
It creates roster spots for our zero NHL-ready center prospects and one other 3c-capable center, excellent. In this case, what happens if Trochek or Zibanejad get injured? I mean even Goodrow getting injured would ruin our depth, I don't wanna see how this team would do with Carpenter and Rydahl as our 3C and 4C...
Chytil proved that he has upside last playoffs and is still young enough to have room to grow, you don't trade players like that if you aren't getting anything in return. If he truly is only worth a 2nd round pick, I'd much rather keep him as our 3c for the foreseeable future. If his value truly is that low, we should be able to resign him for cheap.
I understand creating cap space, but what's the point of purposefully making our team worse? You don't dump good players for cap space when you're a contender: you either keep them to win or use them to improve, this trade does neither.

Initially I wanted to say no on behalf of CAR but again they just lost Pacioretty for the season most likely. I guess if you put Pacioretty's contract in the deal (LTIR anyway) that way CAR won't be in VGK situation. And lower retention to 2 M on Voracek.

It's definitely enough that I'd be listening as the Leafs. A top pairing defenseman, a top 6 winger as replacement, 2 of a teams top prospects and a 1st. I'd want an extension in place for Weegar but other than that, it's in the ballpark.

Ducks decline. We don't need your spare parts for shattenkirk, neither of those guys help our rebuild, or even fill the hole at RD left by Shattenkirk.
We want picks or prospects back, and will take enough cap to get the deal done, but more than 4 mil means you sweetening the pot.
