Tavares on wing is dumb, leaf’s don’t need Scheifele, yes he’s better but we don’t really need this

It’s not about needing scheifele, it’s about being cap compliant without making the roster worse

Which is better, adding assets to Kerfoot to dump him or swapping out nylander for a comparable player with almost $4 million lower cap hit?

I see what you're saying but I'd rather eat a warm sandwich after my dog pees on it to dump Kerfoot's 3.5 mil. I'm not a big fan of Willie Styles (except for his beautiful hair) but if I'm trading him I need a top 4 Defenseman in return. Leafs don't need Scheifele.

Yeah I was considering doing that. Like maybe a Rasmus Anderson or something. Maybe I will do another AGM with nylander for a D-man since apparently this idea does. Or go over well lol

Flames fans are quite fond of Andersson. Beware! 😉 50 points last season!

Yeah plus term on the contract. Leafs would have to add imo

We're all much more loyal to our homegrown players. Well the good ones anyway! 😂

It's a good thought. I guess it depends on whether the Leafs think Niemela is going to be NHL regular. Let's say Nylander and Schefeile are equal, Niemela is adding for cap difference/retention for two years.

Yeah niemela might be an overpay for the retention. Is more about the base idea rather than the actual pieces. Basically make a lateral move with Nylander that will save enough cap space to be compliant after signing Sandin

Very easy no from Winnipeg. 2 years of Scheifele is worth far more than Nylander, so when you add in retention it gets too expensive for Toronto. This wouldn't be close.

Nylander is worth more than scheifele due to age and also scheifele reputation as a bad team mate. On ice they are probably equal in terms of value. Leafs add niemela to compensate for the retention.

Imo value is in Winnipeg’s favour

No that couldn't be further from the truth. A consistent PPG 1C is worth infinitely more that a soft, one dimensional complimentary winger. Age has no bearing as they both have 2 years left on their contracts and two years of Scheifele is worth more than 2 years of Nylander ever could be. Plus Nylander has all the same negatives Scheifele supposedly has.

Nylander doesn't have the value to return a top 6 center, never mind a consistent PPG 1C.

This deal heavily, heavily favours Toronto.

This is such a homer view of the trade lol. Any objective person would recognize nylander and scheifele are relatively squeal in terms of on ice value

No it's a realistic outlook. Just because you don't like it or refuse to acknowledge reality, doesn't make it homeristic. EVERYONE knows that centers are more valuable than wingers. Especially when one is a play driving PPG 1C and the other is a non-play driving soft winger, that disappears in difficult games.

Scheifele has a far greater impact on games than Nylander does or can.
