But he's the playmaker on that line and has the puck most of the time. It's easier to find a scoring winger than a player like Brazal.
Brazal is not a goal scorer so when you say do I want Nylander at 23 goals to Brazal's 13 goals. Nylander does not create for other linemates, he needs a playmaker on his wing.</div></div>
I’d have to disagree. Fair enough for case you made for Barzal. But Nylander is a playmaker. He is just shooting the puck so much and carrying Tavares and Bertuzzi on the second line. But when he plays with Matthews he becomes a playmaker. Thats another argument for Nylander… he is getting that many points by himself on second line minutes.

That's fine. You guys can keep him. Statistically... Detroit has been losing more games with him on the team. Hope you guys make the playoffs or he for sure will consider going to Toronto. :tearsofjoy

Sure. But then they could just not resign Bert, and give that money to Nylander. Or Bertuzzi signs for less along with Bordie and the cap increase resulting in there being enough money to resign Nylander.

Panther's are only 1 point ahead of Leafs atm. So Kane is probably still waiting to see if they will protect that spot, or if another team like Toronto over takes them in the next few days. It's too close to call atm because again, its a 1 point difference and he's got plenty of time to wait and see.

Not enough for Drai. But if the trade were to happen, I think he should be playing with Matthews, then move Marner down with Tavares since they have had good chemistry in the past.

Yeah. But I thought that happened during the Dubas GM drama which could have played a factor in O'Reilly and Schenn's departure.

Domi is way too small to be playing Centre. I like Kampf because he is a 6'2 centre, and Domi is 5'10 (he will get completely bullied on the ice in that position). If your trading him, you gotta call up Minten or trade for another tall player, imo.

If Oshie retires
Nylander already said he wants to stay in Toronto and doesn't want to go anywhere else. Toronto is not backing down from their 9M-9.75M offer because they know he is going to take it. Nylander's agents are just pushing for 10M+ because they want to suck as much money as they can from a long term contract... according to Toronto insider Friedman. Plus and I quote "90% chance he resigns". So I guess your betting on that 10% that he signs for $11M on a team with old and retired hockey veterans.

Zegras was on the worst team and had 65 points. Caufield got 85 on a crap team as well. No excuse for lack of points and plus/minue.

Calling up more Prospects
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>newman23</b></div><div>Joke of an offer for Jones, not even close.</div></div>
With all due respect, Seth Jones only put up 37 points and was a minus 38 (+/-). Janrkok got 38 points, Lafferty got 27 points, and Klingberg got 24 points. Plus your getting a 1st round (not a high 1st pick, but a 1st pick). I'd say throwing in a promising prospect like Robertson would be fine, but even without Roberston your getting a lot of solid depth players that can be traded away for draft picks to playoff contenders. And cap isn't an issue for Chicago, but if you did keep them and didn't trade them before deadline, they are all on 1-2 year deals.

On overpay for to acquire Hanifan....just an unneeded position to upgrade also.</div></div>
I would assume Dallas would willingly make the trade and make trades after with other teams to become cap compliant since they are getting Nylander who is better and younger then Pavelski (plus if he resign thats 8 years of Nylander, compared to 1 or 2 years of Pavelski). And as for the Hanifan trade I overpayed to get them to make the trade, and I was also thinking value can always be regained through free-agency when you got the cap (without the players playing in a location preference factor). These trades make room for free-agency moves the followng years, while making Toronto cap compliant for 2024.

I think Schenn is worth 2.75M (I'd take him over Bordie). Solid Defence, and was the only guy the hit and fought every game in the playoffs.

Ive made too many of these today
I'm thinking you don't re-sign Bertuzzi, let Samsonov walk and get Connor Hellebuyck (unless Samsonov has a tremendous season this year), don't sign Ian Cole, and use all that money to overpay Devon Toews to get him out of Colorado. Forward group remains pretty much the same since current players get better, Goaltending gets a slight bit better in terms of experience, and the defence gets a huge buff. Also by the 2024 season, Reaves will probably have to be buried.
