Post deadline roster
Good grief, no Tyler Myers to the Jets. Sorry, that ship has sailed. this would not upgrade the Jets top 6. He would replace Schmidt or Dillon not Stanley and maybe its close with Schmidt but... Also, it would further hinder the well deserved opportunity earned for Ville Heinola and Declan Chisolm.

Post deadline roster
I think the Jets take Stanley for Myers as a retained deadline rental without a second thought to be honest. I would prefer a better defender (unless he got better after signing in Vancouver), but that is probably the best the return the Jets can hope to expect from Stanley at this point.

I know Van wants to move him and that Nashville has a little bit of a logjam on D but, still this trade looks more like an off-season trade IMO

Garland Offers
Zero chance Winnipeg gives up a top 4 RHD for a bottom sixer with a bad contract that has requested a trade. The Jets need Pionk and don't need Garland or his contract.

Garland could be a good medium-term fit in Carolina. Maybe they can offer a late 1st at the deadline.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BigShoots</b></div><div>Thats why you just go for it now. That isn't even that much value. You'd be getting a top line player that gives the team a much better chance at winning these next couple yrs. After that its blow up time anyway. And I do think you exaggerate how bad the contract is.</div></div>
Miller is signed from 30 - 37 at 8MM per. He is worth it now and maybe next year. He is not worth it for the last three years. He will also hinder the Pens in their real goal, building a team. He would eat up nearly half of what they have in cap space. It is a bad investment. Now if Van ate 2MM, I would trade 14 overall. Short of that, I would pass.

Having a contract at 8 mil in 5 yrs when you are rebuilding and nowhere near the cap ceiling is not going to hinder your rebuild. That would be the case even in a continued flat cap but we know the cap will go up significantly. 8 mil in 5-7 yrs will look like a 5 mil contract now to illustrate the point even more. So you get a top line winger for the rest of your window 2-4 yrs for a 1st and 2nd and you get out from Granlund.
It takes up 3 mil extra on your cap for the next two yrs. It's a great move really. Canucks would never do it because they think theyre good but they should do it to recoup some assets and try and challenge in 3-4 yrs.

You do make good points. I am just loath to trade 14 overall. Perhaps if it was changed to 2024 1st (top 10 protected), I could get on board.

That 14th is almost certainly not going to help this team win now. And oddly if they do pan out theyll be the guy who is a few yrs older than the rebuilding team. I guess next yrs 1st would be ok but you dont want to start trading future first given how bad it will turn at some point in Pitt. Anyway whether its Miller or not the 14th should be moved for win now players. Crosby, Malkin, Letang dont come along too often you gotta support them as much as possible.

Boeser for Mantha is almost a 1 for 1 negative value player trade the canucks get save 1 million in cap space with Mantha and Kuzy and get to move up from 11 to 8 using the value difference between Miller and Kuzy. It probably needs a lower level prospect from Washington or a low value second or third from Washington to equal the trade. Maybe even a retention on Mantha or Kuzy

Am I crazy for thinking the Caps would be fine with this? If Kuzy isn't interested in sticking around, and a team is willing to throw two roster players back to us to offload the Mantha contract, could be a win win if Miller's production stays high.

I don’t see how Beauvillier and Rathbone help us. Beauvillier isn’t getting top-6 time…doesn’t work on defending or forechecking line. I’m afraid he would be another Andreas Johansson. And Rathbone would have to clear waivers to play in Utica.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bogdown</b></div><div>Don't think this would happen, maybe for Foote though. Canucks right side is already set for next year with Hronek, Bear, Johansson. If a trade is made for Fabbro, then Bear is likely gone since he's the exact same player and will probably make the exact same cap hit.</div></div>
Johansson will be competing for a spot. Playing in the A for a year with Hirose would be good for their development. Doesn't seem like a long term deal gets done with Bear so a 1 year and maintaining flexibility would be great. They'd have Fabbro and Bear's rights with Johansson potentially knocking on the door. Just a thought ...
