Because they'd be getting two big prospects and a 1st for a guy who is expiring at the end of the year and the should be Sharks rebuilding. Meier would be one of their biggest trade chips for a rebuild.

This is well done.

The only thing I am skeptical of is the Brown - Miller trade. I think you may need more than the 7th round pick to go with Brown. Defensemen are just inherently more valuable than depth forwards.

Yeah looking back you may be right there this isn't enough for Pietrangelo. But because of the player you are getting and the Leafs circumstance I don't think adding another piece to this deal (Liljegren? Sandin?) would hurt them that much.

I don't know what the market value for a guy of Pietrangelo's caliber is right now considering the other defensemen who have been traded in recent years. But I don't think its that much further than adding another prospect here.

Why is Chris Tanev the guy everyone seems to want? He is an average defenseman at best. Johnsson is too much to give up for a guy like that.
