I've been alive for the 23 years now and I can honestly say that deal for Winnipeg for Ehlers is by far the most despicable thing I have ever laid my eyes on .

Damon Severson is expected to make upwards of 6 million AAV
No reason Winnipeg makes that trade
The Hart deal seems like quantity over quality especially with retention

You're gonna have to give up something a little more enticing then that for get Ehlers half retained...

What would it cost
Both of them? You’d have to give up someone you don’t want to like Johnson or Jiricek unless WPG is high on Boqvist and/or Sillinger.
Johnson or Jiricek wouldn’t be in a big package. Only a couple pieces. Boqvist and/or Sillinger would be in a bigger package.

to much or too little plus thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SKWPG</b></div><div>100% agree. Samsonov and Minten need to go back for Helly, but Minten wasn't in the proposal here. Here's my thinking... Helly for Samsonov, Minten and the BOS 1st round pick. Minten is more valuable to the Jets than TImmins and Voit. Samsonov buys the Jets a little time, but they will need a similar goalie to him, because I 100% believe Sammy is a 1B or 2A, not a 1A.</div></div>
I think he proved with the Leafs this year he can be a 1A. Also did so while pretty clearly being hurt through the end of the season and playoffs. I could see his numbers falling off a bit in Winnipeg though, the Leafs defence and high end chance prevention definetly buoyed his numbers early on. But that deal of Sammy, Minten, 1st is realistic.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SKWPG</b></div><div>Then why do SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many of the Leafs fans keep proposing him in trades for almost anything and anyone, especially Helly. It's obvious to even Leafs fans that Samsonov is no where near Helly's caliber. Arguing that would be silly / wrong.</div></div>
Well in a trade where they are acquiring a goalie it makes sense to send a goalie back the other way. Especially when it sounds like winnipeg doesn't plan on rebuilding. I also don't believe this deal gets them Hellebuyck and it would likely take another top prospect like Minten, but Sammy will be apart of any trade the Leafs would make for a goalie because it makes logical sense.

Honestly Niemela and Minten was a lot, Minten is a huge add for any team. Would definetly be a tough guy for the leafs to move on from

I think the Detroit and Dallas trades make sense. Don't see the Winnipeg trade making sense for them even if they were previously interested in Provorov, and I think Colorado is going to set their sights higher than Hayes (my opinion is they're the perfect fit for Scheifele)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OneTMLForMePls</b></div><div>Me and Cheveldayoff had a long chat this is what he told me fr</div></div>
It is the contract. Everyone would want Marner but the Jets would either have to let him walk, or have to trade him a year later because he won't resign. He is a great player but Jets are looking for long term fits. Guys they can get signed long term. If Marner is willing to sign then maybe it works but they can't talk about an extension until after next year. Jets don't take that risk, and don't trade trade Ehlers.

Maybe. But it might need to involve Pickering. Although I don't think the Jets want another LHD when they already have too many.

F it - we ball. If we could somehow work out retention that would be perfect. It's one year on each of them left and WPG isn't contending if they're trading both of them anyways - so I would hope retention is on the cards.

WPG passes on the Marner trade. I'd rather have Connor for 3 more years at $7.1m than Marner for 2 years at almost $11m...that and the fact were also giving up Lowry (Captain conversation) and our 1st...

Question is now, how much does money play? MTL just made it clear they want to cap their salaries under Captain Suzuki's mark, and that's fair (and I see you did the same with an extension on PLD in this very mock up) . But if Dubois is traded somewhere else---somewhere almost nearly as awesome as MTL, say NYR, for example---and NY finds a way to offer 8.5-9 over 8 years . . . well that sure leaves Dubois with quite a decision to make if his hometown team only offers 7.85 x 7. Seems pretty assumptuous on MTL's part . . . to think that he'll walk away from a higher salary and an extra year simply cuz he wants to come home that much.
I'd like to know, if it comes to market prices for PLD being higher than the Suzuki benchmark, do MTL fans want their french guy SO much as to make him their highest -paid player? And do they ensure they trade for him to get that 8th year???

The DeBrincat offer isn't good enough, no way Ottawa accepts that.
