<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sabresguy1987</b></div><div>Dont get me wrong, I believe savoie is our best prospect, but I dont think vancouver is accepting anything less. There is already a log jam upfront and it doesnt seem like donny or kevyn want to give the opportunities to the young guys like quinn as opposed to guys like mitts and olofsson. Makes me worried for savoie next year that he may be placed on a line with girg and okposo although i am hoping both are gone.</div></div>
I still don't understand why Quinn is in Granato's doghouse, but I hope he knows what he's doing. In any case, I'm not obsessed with Horvat, he hasn't always been so productive, that's also suspicious, he's a good 2C, but this is not a need that we definitely need now and probably in the future. I don't want to trade Savoie at all, it's my favorite prospect. We need to find a top 4 RD and a couple of forwards who play physical game or play very competitive.

Not a huge fan of jokiharju, he's ok. Have to keep in mind that we had cardboard cutouts in goal for a lot of games, and our centers are very young too. Again not making excuses, would like to see another year first. Plus we don't have a ton of options or depth on right d.

A free first in a extremely good draft for a few million dollars? Why not? Anyone saying no literally has no clue what they're talking about. And of course, it's always the same guys. Go figure.

Painful season and immediate playoff jump following year
Barzal is not getting traded and will most likely be extended this offseason by Lou if he has not already been and just waiting to announce the contract in September like he did last year with Pulock.
With that being said Isles would not have interest in Johnson as they are set at LD, or Luukkonen as they have their franchise goalie.
A hypothetical package would be:
Cozens
Kulich
1st (2023)- Top 5 protected.
You cannot acquire a player like Barzal without given up pieces that are painful to trade.

He's $1m TO $2m overpaid.. but no expert would say "Jones isn't very good" and at $5M locked in long term is an absolute steal...one of the best contracts in the NHL at that price. He also wouldn't be playing behind Dahlin because as of now, there is zero question that jones is the better player.</div></div>
That last sentence was pure comedy

You seem to over react at literally anything Sabres. You wouldn't want Jones for anything? I can understand the first, but not a package of maybe two seconds and a decent prospect? Let's be real here guy.

People don’t realize that being overpaid does not mean you’re bad. Jones at $5 mil for 8 years is insane value. After watching him every game this past year, the Jones slander is 100% unwarranted.

top of the division
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Federov</b></div><div>Rangers top CBJ in everything... Better top 6 scoring, better defense scoring and defense in general, better depth and better goaltending.</div></div>
While I wouldn't argue against any of those really, I don't think it's out of the question for CBJ to finish above the Rangers. New York had a ton go right for them last year. While I mean no disrespect to their impressive roster, Igor had one of the best goaltending seasons in recent history. As good as he is, it's extremely likely the numbers see a fairly big regression (while still being top 3-5 in the league). Same thing with Kreider. He nearly doubled his previous career high in goals. While some of that can be attributed to the overall team improvement, he had an astronomically high shooting % and a total of 30-35 is much more likely.
Some of this stuff can be countered by continued improvement by Laf, Kakko, Miller, ect, but I don't think it's unreasonable to see a drop in their point total, especially considering how much many other east teams have improved (Det, Ott, Cbj specifically)
Then on CBJ's side, the addition of Gaudreau, development/arrival of young talent, and just overall health (Laine, Jenner, Elvis all missed substantial time last year), they could see a big improvement. While the popular opinion is that they probably don't make playoffs yet this year, it's certainly not out of the question, though a division title is certainly a bit of a pipe dream.

don't want to speak for OP but I assumed they were just showing Buffalo's side of the trade - Toronto would be sending Ottawa whatever return separately, this just showing the deal from Buffalo's perspective to add the retained cap hit & pick to the ACGM.
