Offseason and Next Year
-It's fine value for Kovacevic but I think TML would probably keep the pick and sign a Jani Hakanpaa-type for a similar cap hit.
-I don't really see a spot for Dvorak on the Isles, even with the retention. They already have JG Pageau as a 3C who can score 35ish points, which would mean that Dvorak would be a 4th liner making $3M on next year's Islanders team. Just don't see a reason to give up a pair of mid-round picks for that.
-Dallas takes this deal and runs before you can change your mind. Dellandrea might have some untapped upside but giving up a late 1st is overkill for him.
-Probably a round too high of a value for Harris; I also think he's worth keeping around as depth considering the D-corps you've built here has two vets (Savard & Matheson), a guy with a year and a half's experience as a top-4 guy (Guhle), another with a year and a half's experience as a 6th/7th D(Xhekaj), and two guys with a combined 3 NHL games under their belts. Harris isn't a stud but he's a useful middle pair guy and I'd rather have him around than worry about all three of Xhekaj/Mailloux/Hutson coming out of the gates next year as fully formed NHLers.

TDL Habs Take II
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Samsquanch14</b></div><div>So unretained it'd be Savard for a 2nd + Bourgault + Holloway?
I think EDM is going to have a hard time paying this to anyone, they might be tied with him for the rest of his contract. Obviously, EDM can't just trade us a pick since they'd be over the cap and have no one on LTIR to pull that shenanigans. I guess you could just do Retained Savard for a 1st + Holloway + a low-end roster player to make the cap work? Vincent Desharnais and let his contract expire?</div></div>
You are partially right, it would be hard for the Oiler to consider trading that much but they can acquire Savard half retained for just a 1st. They have accrued 2.3 mil in cap space for deadline deals since half retained Savard's cap hit would only be 1.75 mil they could do it easily without adding Campbell

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Samsquanch14</b></div><div>What do the Avs need? If it came down to it, they could trade Evans for picks after the season. I was more thinking win-now outlook. Although 4th line, he'd be a defensively reliable player, especially on the PK.</div></div>
The Avs need a 2C long term and a back up G for this season only (so no to Allen). Retaining on RyJo and taking Evans means they'd have 1.3m of RyJo's 4m to use on a 2C. Basically Evans becomes a 2.7m 4C and the Avs can't afford him at 1.7. Ain't gonna work. Will be hard enough at 4, impossible at 1.3 to find a 2C. RyJo will likely have to be moved full cap for no return (or at best FCs/pick) or the Avs are stuck with him. A 4C and a 3rd pair RD are maybe targets if they've fixed the others two positions of need but there will be little left to spend on them.

Matheson and Armia out
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>stuuuuuuuuuuutzle</b></div><div>Yeah, getting this return for Matheson, while taking on Suter, would be an absolute dream. But I don't really know, with Hanifin and Chychrun on the market too, how anyone would this for Matheson. Matheson can do some very good things, but he's a flawed player - the kind of player who gives back everything he gets you offensively with bad defending. He can run your PP but he spams shots in an era where teams have really moved away from running power plays through the point. He's more fine on the Habs because he's still doing things none of their other D can do (his relative xG numbers are fairly impressive), but for a team who already has weapons, he's an awkward fit. I would take Back and a 1st in a heartbeat for him (assuming no one else offers more)</div></div>
This is probably the most objective feedback I've seen an opposing fan give another team player. Well done.

In all fairness, he cheers for a team that wastes 1rst round picks on a yearly basis. Hard for a Toronto fan to really get a feel for what a first rounder is worth when they are needed to dump bad contracts, or pick up trade deadline picks that can't stay healthy.

But yeah, all those players are likely worth more to MTL than they are to other teams, certainly to the Blackhawks.

Relax. If you want a lottery pick you're probably going to get one - I can't see Sam Montembault & Jake Allen combining for a .920 SV% the rest of the way. But as said upthread, settle down - 4 of your top 5 scorers are 23 or younger. It's great for a young team to have success together like this - even if the whole roster isn't ready to make a playoff run just yet, getting them to gel together like this so early on under MSL's system is a huge win. Enjoy the season instead of freaking out about a draft pick you don't even have yet and might not turn out to be half as good as any of the guys currently on your team.

Habs Trades
The recent stretch of games has shown why Anderson should not be moved. He's producing, he's helping his linemates produce and building chemistry with them (worth more than trading him on it's own), and he's fully engaging his abilities.
He pushed Brodie out of his way to score against Toronto. He made Dahlin bail on a check to create another goal against Buffalo.
He's creating chaos, turnovers, and space in the offensive zone with his speed and strength, which Suzuki and Caufield (and Petry) are capitalizing on.
He's even been more engaged defensively. Josh Anderson of all people, took a puck to the face blocking a shot. That's commitment.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Samsquanch14</b></div><div>To be honest, read an article about this being a possible option and didn't really know who else to add in there. Article made it seemed like Detroit might not be all-in on him. Read a little more about him and could see why the value isn't there with Petry. Was looking for younger players to fit the mold MTL wants and think Petry would be a good addition to a team where he doesn't need to eat minutes and can help as a mentor to the young guns on Detroit.</div></div>
Understandable and its refreshing to see a poster reflecting that maybe value wasnt there.
I apologise on behalf of other Wings fans who come in a bit more riled up, about half the time we open up a Habs thread seeing the wings logo its a bad deal for Petry and it definitely starts to get grating lol
