Eichel Trade

I see your point. I think the salary cap issue is more important than you are giving it credit for. 10 million in means salary will have to come out for any team that would hope to get Eichel. I could be way off though. I do appreciate the constructive commentary, thanks again!

One Toronto fan's opinion is not mine. But thank you for the comment. I agree, Buffalo won't trade him.

Do It
This team is bonkers and your trade is pretty good value, even though Pens fans won't agree. If you don't mind a few points:
1. Tuukka needs a better 2nd to platoon with. Halak makes this possible and you will have to spend more there.
2. Landeskog probably gets more than 7.
3. WHy break up the top line of Mac, Landeskog and MIkko? Leave that filth alone and give Crosby Kadri on the wing. It spreads out the talent!
Fun scenario, great work.

Fair assessment. You might be right. We just saw this with PLD. A #1 center with tons of potential on a good short term contract nets a 40 goal scoring winger and a decent piece. I think we just disagree on the value of Eichel. He is not getting you an equal #1 center plus 4 firsts plus 2 top prospects. In the flat cap era money in needs money out. To prove my point, if I throw in another 1st and NIck Robertson and Rasmus Sandin you would still say no. Which would go to show your valuation is, in my opinion too high. BUt its all just fun, so thanks for commenting!

Fair question. I don't think EIchel and Matthews are on the same level, but that isn't really the issue. If EIchel wants out this is pretty good value. If Buffalo has their hand forced, which is the only way they trade him, then you're going to lose the trade. Thanks for the comment and cheers!

I have a concept for a trade between the Leafs and Isles for Pulock, maybe I won't post it, I don't want to create animosity. I just like playing around with Leaf trades.

Cernak Offer Sheet and Weegar
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>connorcieminski</b></div><div>Totally agree. With both of the teams tight to the cap and Tampa needing to re-sign Cirelli, Sergachev, and their entire right side, I'm just not sure how much the Leafs would have to offer him to not have Tampa match. I'd rather give up 1-2 picks in an offer sheet compensation than give up Dermott+ in a trade.</div></div>
We are on the same page with this one. Let's put it another way. You can have 2 Cernaks or one Pietrangelo for the same price. The risk is entirely on Pietrangelo not aging well into the contract. I'm taking 2 Cernaks (or one Cernak and one Weegar as you put it).

Trade Marner and it works. Of course Rangers don't do this and neither would Leafs, too risky to trade Marner for what may never be as good as him.

Your value is correct and that is why both St Louis and Toronto fans say no. Nylander for Parayko and maybe a second to even out the term. Its a painful trade from both sides nobody will make.

Valid point. There's enough options that Lehner is really just a space filler for a high end goalie in this scenario.
Thank you for your input!

With approx. 8 spots open. Pretty doubtful 1 yr of Andersen is moved for the 13 OV pick, when other options are available.
It's higher price than the Leafs paid 4 yrs ago.</div></div>
You could easily be right here. I tend to see it the other way though. If Carolina could have easily and cheaply solved their goalie issues they would have done so. With internal cap, the fact that Freddy only requires 1 million in real dollars after signing bonus there's serious value. PLus he wasn't a top ten goalie when they picked him up for a low first, now he is.
Or you could be right and I'm overvaluing.

Blockbuster Blues Trade - Thoughts
I agree with the sentiment of others here, there is no trading Parayko. That being said, a fantasy trade for him requires the Leafs GM to lose and offer a painful trade. Pieces that you really don't want to give up like Nylander and Robertson and Sandin would have to be part of an overpayment you would never make.

Everything you say here is true. Marner could win an Art Ross and is the far better player in this trade. In these fantasy scenarios you have to give to get or you're just building an all star team.
