No one is giving up 4 1sts for Barzy and the Isles aren’t letting him go. Just fun to think about.

Isles trade is fair value but they won’t part with Mayfield who’s on a darling contract to take on almost 7M for Nylander. They cannot afford it. Only way Isles trade for Nylander is if leafs take similar salary back.

What’s the value difference between a 5th 6th and 7th? I’m sure it’s super minimal.

Pulock for Nylander
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Isles777</b></div><div>yeah he'll be a regular next season. Isles have no choice with the cap crunch and boychuk isn't an NHL caliber defenseman.
Despite being sheltered playing with boychuk, dobson was 2nd offensively and 3rd defensively among isles D.</div></div>
I would love to pair Dobson with Greene or Pelech. I think he’ll take off next to a steady guy like that. Boychuk is so hard to play with. Look how much better Leddy looks away from him.

Pulock for Nylander
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Isles777</b></div><div>pulock is a great top pairing D - Dobson's development has been great, the isles just have a coach that refuses to play rookies.</div></div>
I do understand why Trotz won’t play him though. Look how the team is preforming. The team works better with defensemen that play exactly the system Trotz wants. Dobson has great skill but he lacks the experience and will make rookie mistakes. The PO is not the time to be letting guys mature. I would like to see Dobson do it next season before letting Pulock go. But I also don’t think Pulock becomes a bonafide #1 D man. Trotz system puts shine on a lot of these guys and honestly Pelech is so damn good in his own zone it makes Pulock look even better.

Yeah and he’s a solution to the cap issue and not a problem, Unless the Isles are getting a really high end Wing prospect with as much control as Dobson it makes no sense.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsFan9</b></div><div>I’m surprised an Isles fan is buying so low on Pulock. He is a great player</div></div>
He’s awesome and I probably wouldn’t do this deal but the appeal of Nylander with Barzal and hoping Dobson can develop into that top RH offensive Dman is what’s making me really consider it. If the Isles find a way to get Ladd to retire there is no way they move Pulock.

I would do that. But Leo has a NTC would you take Clutterbuck? He’s a better player imo and similar cap hit.

I can see them locking down Pulock but Toews I bet they sign short term low cap. LH D men are much easier to replace than RH.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>I'm not saying that a team wouldn't take Leddy for a 3rd. I'm saying the Kings wouldn't. They're not "desperate" for LHD as you say. They need a guy to fill in for a season or two while Bjornfot matures in the AHL. There are plenty of guys that they can sign to short term deals without having to give up anything of value. it's not like they expect to be competitive next season. They'd re-sign Hutton before they gave up a 3rd for Leddy.</div></div>
That’s fair. It’s just hard to imagine them being uncompetitive for this long in that market. I would think there is some pressure to compete again. Maybe because fans in the stands is unlikely for next season they can afford to be more patient with the rebuild? It’s interesting how they play it.

They have to bridge them unless they can somehow dump Boychuk and Ladd. That’s highly unlikely. I also think a team will offer sheet Barzal at that price.

You're telling me you wouldn't downgrade a 5th round pick to a 7th if LA would take Staal's contract of your hands?</div></div>
The whole point of trading for a Dman would be to get a valuable asset and take on salary to continue a rebuild or you know, actually improve the team. Leddy for a third is great value for a proven puck moving defenseman. Look at his playoff tape. He’s been very impressive. I’m not saying he’s Booby Orr out there. A team out there would definitely take Leddy for 3rd.

Hammer is definitely not moving for a 3rd. That’s laughable. And if the Kings want to tank than Staal makes sense I guess.

I disagree wholeheartedly but I’d compromise on a 3rd.

They really need LD bad. Leddy has been excellent in the PO and has had success in the past.

Right he definitely wasn’t ranked as high as some other on the board but in terms of ceiling this kid probably lead the pack. High risk here though but he could end up being one of the best players after the top 2.

Add a 2nd round draft pick if it makes you happy or even Ho-Sang.
Beauvillier has scored 39 goals in his first 2 full seasons, while Ehlers scored 40 in his first 2.</div></div>

Capable and fine 13th forward. Enough skill to not completely suck in a pinch on top 6 role, enough grit and speed to be a fine fill in, in a bottom 6 role.
You just hope he doesn’t have to play more then 30 games. Solid depth though.

Who should NYI draft
I’m all in for Tomasino or Suzuki at 23. But if I had a choice it would be to move the pick for a 3c or packaged for a top 6 winger.
I don’t know enough about the draft to justify trading up a couple spots plus missing our 3rd and 4th round picks makes me think if anything trading back is more likely.
Definitely do not draft a goalie. For the love of god do not use a 1st round pick on a goalie.
