<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KrakenTheCode</b></div><div>This is what I would consider a reasonable offer for Larsson in the hypothetical scenario where he's on the trade block. The trade comp I used is the deal that sent Jake Muzzin from the Kings to the Leafs back in 2019 for Sean Durzi, Carl Grundström, and a 2019 first round pick. In that deal, LA got a quality RHD prospect, promising young forward, and a first round pick for a shutdown top four defenseman with an extra year of term on his contract at a cap hit of $4M.

Larsson is a similar player to Muzzin with an identical contract situation, so he should fetch a similar return at minimum, with a quality RHD prospect (Niemelä), promising young forward (Robertson) and a first round pick. However, Larsson is a RHD while Muzzin was a LHD, so the relative positional scarcity increases Larsson's trade value. Something worth noting is that Seattle is much closer to contention than the Kings were at the time of the trade, and are much less inclined to trade one of their key players. So even though I would consider this offer fair, it might still not be enough to convince the Kraken to make a deal.

Keep in mind that it has been reported the Kraken are not entertaining trading Larsson, and it is basically a guarantee he sticks around in Seattle for the foreseeable future. This was mainly a hypothetical and a blanket response to all the Larsson trade ideas I've seen floating around.</div></div>

Ohhhh boy.
Ok. 1) Durzi was unsigned. Leafs were trading his RIGHTS ONLY. Durzi was 20. Topi is 21 and has a contract. Topi has played in multiple international tournys. Durzis career was very vanilla at the time.
2) Grundstrom had never played an NHL game at the time of the deal. In fact, he had only played a handful of games in North America. 28 games to be exact. For the Marlies. As a call up from Europe. He was already 21. Not even trending to be an NHL player.
Robertson has 71 NHL games under his belt at 22. Even has playoff games. Currently on pace for 16 goals and 40 pts and is a plus player. IN THE NHL. ??? Comparing a 20 goal guy to a non NHLer??
Larsson and Muzzin are/were the same age. Muzzin was coming off a 42 point season. Larsson is on pace for 25 points.....
Muzzin had 50 NHL playoff games at the time. Was a plus 4 in those games with 20 points.
Larsson has 38 playoff games. Is a -4 in those games with 13 points.
Muzzin had won a cup as a top pair D man.
Larsson has never won a cup. In fact. He has never been past the second round.
Muzzin had three 40 point seasons at the time.
Larsson has never had better than 33 points
And you added an extra pick and think you still might need to add more huh? lol
If you are going to shovel **** at people. At least pretend to know what you are talking about first lol
BRUTAL.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SuperMario66</b></div><div>If Nylander were offering to sign for 8.8Mx7 Toronto would probably sign him rather than trade him. Maybe NJ could convince him to take a little under 10, like 9.6Mx7. I still think that's reasonable for Nylander on a long-term contract with the cap going up, but Toronto can't afford it. He's definitely superior to Bratt, but Bratt is also a bit younger. If NJ can trade and sign Nylander I think they would seriously consider this, it just sucks that they recently extended Bratt but if it makes the team better they would do it.</div></div>

I'd have to agree with almost everything you've said here amongst all the comments on this idea.

The only way Nylander signs an 8.8(or less then 9.5) is because he's not in Toronto anymore, I don't see any world where he's gets more then 9.5 as a UFA. He's simply not worth it.
Nylander is definitely a better offensive player then Bratt, hence the 2nd added here.
I don't think Nylander is worth Bratt+1st + prospect or anything though, it's not a "superstar" talent difference between them.

Toronto gets a young player whose locked up to a cheaper contract then Nylander and while playing with Matthews/Marner/JT , COULD really come close to matching Nylanders output. Meanwhile, jersey gets an true 1st line RW who knows what it takes to play with superstar talent like Hughes. I'd guess he cracks the 100pt plateau a few times beside Hughes rather easily and the increase in talent over Bratt is definitely worth the 2nd +the extra 900k-1M to extend Nylander.

The biggest issue with this trade is it won't happen. No GM wants to be seen handing out a nice big contract, only to trade that player before the season even starts.
