Because some players will be traded
It's fine, but as an Oilers fan I wouldn't like the Barrie-Hoffman trade. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, just saying I wouldn't like it. We have a lot of young wingers who starting to become NHL ready so if we're gonna get a winger it's gotta be somebody who is not only ready but is reliable.

Solid. I would also put Nedeljkovic as a scratch for a third goalie.

Stretch run line up
It's difficult to say a lineup for this team because Woodcroft often changes the lineup based on who we are playing, but I can tell you two things that I hope you take as constructive:
--The McDavid-Draisaitl duo do not usually play together, and the recently made Kane-McDavid-Yamamoto line have been on fire, so it's very unlikely that those two would be on the same line, especially when they are both very much capable of carrying their own line. The McDavid-Draisaitl duo is and should be thought of as superpunch in a video game: it is very powerful but should be used sparingly because it drains stamina.
--Derick Brassard should not be on the powerplay. I do expect his offensive numbers to improve with the Oilers, but he is still very much a guy who is there for defensive, he has failed to put average offensive numbers this year and should not be relied upon for a powerplay. In his place should be McLeod, who has been very fun to watch this season and his puck-handling and line-pushing abilities have improved a ton this season.
--I personally believe Bouchard and Barrie should swap, but Woodcroft typically switches them based on how hot or cold they are.

I agree Hart is unlikely to get traded, but in this scenario Philly is blowing up everything. I will take your other input in into consideration and make edits accordingly.

Brassard is a pointless acquisition, as he will just rot on the sidelines, so Canes will just keep their 3rd and Leivo. Leivo has had a big impact when he has gotten called up by the Canes, so why should we trade him when he serves his role in the AHL really well.</div></div>
Who do you think would mostly likely take Brassard and gives picks for him?

Trades
As an Edmonton fan, I can tell you that trade is not fair. I don't blame you, Oilers have been tied to Fleury trade rumors, but I don't think that trade'll go down, especially with what we're giving up in that trade. Holland is very protective of his first rounders, and he's certainly not gonna give Koskinen for Fleury. They're performing at about the same abilities, if not Koski better, and Koski's younger and cheaper (so good choice for retaining $3.5M). So that leaves a top prospect and a first rounder for a third rounder. The math doesn't add up to me there.

I never said I think Barrie is worth Dvorak, but I think there is a possibility that Montreal might think so. Unpopular trades are all too common in the league, and as Montreal seeks a GM they seem to be in a position where they may be on the bad end of things.

In the notes I explained that Montreal was interested in a puck-moving d-man and had become recently disgruntled with Dvorak. Of course these are rumors and nothing solid. I probably shouldn've handed Montreal a mid-pick too.

Rangers trade is a not a good idea, but whatever.
My biggest point would be to try and turn those 2021 1st Rounders into 2022 1st Rounders.

Could go either way, and in any case it's not gonna change the starting line. I tried to keep this as close to stats possible, van Riemsdyk was still an exceptional goal scorer while getting 11 more assists than Reinhart, but of course at the same time van Riemsdyk had a far better supporting cast. In the end I leaned with van Riemsdyk because Ryan Strome can be a C or RW so I needed (well, not really) a LW player on the bench, not another center. But yeah I have no problem with people arguing for Reinhart to be in here.

Doesn't mean a darn thing if he can't do it when it counts most. and those 10 losses spread out over 2 different teams, so it's not just the "shaky D" as you put it.
Personally I would've rather finished 4 points BEHIND the Senators, but didn't happen. Any chance you have a broom I could borrow to SWEEP it away.</div></div>
Fair but anyone who watched the games can see that Mike Smith was the only guy who consistently showed up and succeeded. Well, McDavid and Draisaitl constantly got around that Jets defense but man Helleybuyck was just a brick wall. It was almost fun watching the Oilers lose because how good he was... anyways that's not the point. I see Smith as a solid cheap backup. Obviously I don't intend him to start when Mrazek and Ullmark are expected to hit the market.

Your valuation of Denault is way too low - he’ll likely get between 4.5 and 6 Million on a four or five year deal. Your other moves seem reasonable.</div></div>
I know Ken Holland won't like the lack of draft capital (that's why I wanted a 3rd Rnd in return), but I'm of the opinion that it's worth it to have a potential superstar right now instead of wait and take a guess on which player -- if any -- will become a superstar, sniping winger at least three years from now. I feel like if the Oilers want a dynasty, they need to lock and load in the next two season. Otherwise they'll only be able to aim for one cup.

I put his contract up but I kept it at 3 years because I don't know if he wants to be tied down in Edmonton. Remember, this is an ideal situation; and ideally Edmonton gets Danault. Realistically I agree Edmonton probably won't nab Danault.

And another EDM page that only gives RNH a minimal raise long term.
I have to think if the Oilers only value him as a 250K - 350K above current value player, he goes somewhere else.
For sure there's a team or teams that have the ability to give him a little more and a more prominent role rather than playing behind 97/29</div></div>
The raise is only $250k, which is reasonable considering his 21-6-2 with .912 SV% and 2.69 GAA despite playing behind a shaky D-core; he's also been cited as one of biggest team leaders in the locker room by various players and Edmonton media including McDavid and Draisaitl. The only reason I didn't bump it above $2M is he's 39 years old.
On the note of Nuge, he is aware he didn't earn a massive raise, and he does want to remain in Edmonton. Most talks I've heard remain just above the $6M AAV.
But hey, go ahead and gawk despite being only 4 points ahead of the Senators.

Alright I'll raise the Danault earnings. I figured Washington would want a goalie because they are in desperate need of a reliable backup (Koski had roughly a 930 SV% while a backup this year), and they don't have time to wait for VInacek or Samsonov to develop into exceptional goalies. As I've said with Stalock, I do not care what team we trade Koskinen or Stalock to. So that really doesn't matter to me.

I dunno, I honestly don't care what team we trade Stalock too. I just figured the way sophomore goalies are performing right now Lankinen isn't too safe, so I figured giving them a super cheap backup with playoff experience would interest them, but they Chicago may value Pinho too much. If you have a different trade in mind for Stalock be my guest, I just wanted to trade away Stalock and Koskinen.

I mean Patrick Maroon scored 27 goals in a season on McDavid's line, I'm willing to bank Laine scores 50+ if not 60.
I dunno if you were alluding to this but Habs reportedly gave Danault a lucrative contract but was turned down. I was under the impression Danault didn't want to continue playing in Montreal, but if what you say is true then that's that.
In any case I don't know how the whole "Ideal" word in the title and description went over your head. Obviously I'm not gonna get my hopes up for Laine or Danault. I just wanted to dream about it.
