I don't see why he can't have Hughes at one. That's not really a major critique considering he likely will go first, even though I still strongly believe Kakko is better. There's other things here that I would point out before Hughes 1st.

Plan the Parade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Brinsky12</b></div><div>Seabrook probably does not waive for Ottawa. Also, if Seabrook’s full contract were to be moved, a high caliber young player would most likely have to be included (Jokiharju, Boqvist, etc). I would build up Murphy’s value as much as possible before he is a UFA in 2022. Ideally, he can be put in a top 4 role for the next few seasons and if he is consistent there, we could get a 1st/C+-B prospect out of him at the 2022 trade deadline. The bottom-six looks nice but I think at least a few of those players will start out in Rockford before making it right away to the NHL. I would much rather have Entwistle, Kurashev, and Barratt get top-six minutes in Rockford rather than being sheltered in Chicago. We’ll eventually need money to sign most of the guys on their ELCs so I doubt it is possible that both Stone and Panarin sign here. Slavin is basically untouchable as well.</div></div>
Huge underpay on Slavin

Nylander trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Brinsky12</b></div><div>No way Slavin is being traded. Their depth is on their right side (Hamilton, Faulk, Pesce). They also have defensive prospects to replace either Faulk/Pesce (assuming one of them go) so the depth is there. Slavin-Hamilton is a pretty good 1st pairing to have so I don’t think they would want to break that up either.</div></div>
I don't disagree with you man. But like I said, the Leafs asking price is Slavin and they wont/shouldn't settle for less. If the Canes don't wanna pull the trigger (rightfully so) then I don't think these teams are a match

Maybe it’s brown and a 2nd for Rantanen or maybe he really is just there to watch a game like he says. Who knows.... I am sure he’s not shopping nylander.

Acquiring Lee at TDL
I realize Anders Lee is coming off of a 40 goal season, but this seems like a lot to give up for a guy who imo is overrated with inflated numbers due to playing with Tavares. NYI would definitely accept this offer though, but I don't think Vegas would give up 2 roster players for him

With a reasonable extension possibly. The sabres might not because of the lack of capable wingers.

Resigning Seguin and Looking at the future
I think Seguin will get less — he’s not McDavid level. Tavares new deal is a good comparable. Then factor in Benn’s contract and the income tax advantage of Texas earnings.
I wouldn’t be surprised if DAL got him to do $10.5 x 8 years by heavily weighting yearly signing bonuses (especially early years) that makes it worth much more to the player in cash terms.

Janmark will likely make more than $1.75M and I highly doubt Dellandrea is going to be on the roster for the 2019-2020 season. He's in Flint this year, and he'll be in the AHL the following season. He's likely a 2020-2021 NHL player.
Other than that, I like the signings and everything. The Stars are in great shape cap wise, and they'll be able to make a splash at some point with all the free space they have available.

I don't think Johnsson is signing a 5 year deal at such a low cap figure. Especially after the year he had. Change that to a 2 or 3 year deal and it looks good to me. Might need a little more cash too but it's close.

That's a lot of guys promoted to the big team but it does solve the 2019 problem (re-signing Matthews, Marner and Kapanen). All sensible projections for 2018 have to result in cap space of at least $10M going into next year if the team is to keep the Big Four (now 5) together.

How likely do you think it'll be that WPG re-signs Stastny? He's really had a resurgence in his play since joining WPG and they probably wouldn't be in the WCF without him.

Right, but our scouting department is pretty damn good. Not that Rantanen is bad - he would've been a great add (as would've Hertl). Just saying you never know who would've been picked there.

That’s y even tho us on CF trade draft picks all the time, real GMs are very cautious about making these kind of trades (and the ones that do normally look stupid in the end, as shown by the Minnesota deal to get Hanzal and the Caps actual deal to get Shattenkirk).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Brinsky12</b></div><div>Toronto will not do that. Murphy does have a bit of a heavier cap hit at $3.8 mi for his style of play. I haven’t been impressed with him this year. He hasn’t proven himself to be a top 4 defenseman regularly. Gardiner is a top 4 defender in Toronto.</div></div>
Well, based on his stats, Murphy is a number 4 defensemen. Sure he isn't a number 1 or 2 or even 3 but he can handle playing top 4 minutes in a shutdown role. Toronto probably won't be able to resign Gardiner anyways. They are getting a 2nd rounder back which has value and the Hawks are taking on a bad contract which will help them even more.
