Also i don't think they would part with that Vancouver 1st unless Vancouver is absolutely dominating the pacific come Feb just cause it's entirely possible that it could still be a lottery pick even if unlikely

Wpg trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>In his 18 year old season Laine scored as many goals as Svechnikov got points in his 18 year old season so yeah I get they're the two centerpieces of the trade but wanting something with more then two years of term isn't that much to ask to make up the difference.
Winnipeg is a tough sell to players, it's just the way it is so no I'm not thinking too much about the term factor in this proposed trade. Could this trade happen with one of Faulk or Hamilton going to the Jets, yeah but Jets management would be making a big mistake.
Without a doubt what I see on this site is people not understanding the value of term and way overvaluing prospects, some which have barely played in the AHL let alone the NHL.</div></div>
That last line I literally could not agree more with you but i disagree about hamilton being a mistake I think this trade to begin with is a mistake for carolina more than winnipeg but yes on a deal where both teams are sending a young stud player who can hold a offence on his own at times asking for more than a 2 year deal on an additional piece is wayyy to much for carolina to pay. But back to that last line you said i agree people overvalue the **** outta of players who havent spent a day playing in a best v best environment i think they way overvalue that but when it comes to a deal like this i think you are overlooking the fact that neither team can overpay and giving winnipeg and top 4 on a longterm plus a star forward isnt in there best interest i think you are missing the extra pieces value here in my opinion. But i should add its really nice having a good debate without either of us calling the other trash and stupid or some **** good on you man.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>Hamilton doesn't have much for term though, I'd rather have Bean if Pesce and Slavin are 'off the table.
I get the idea that the Jets are in 'win now' mode in so many peoples eyes but if you're trading a generational goal scorer like Laine you want to get as many controlled assets as possible not short term help like Hamilton, he's likely not signing in Winnipeg once he's ufa in two seasons.</div></div>
I get the generational thing I agree but saying that he can't be apart of the deal cause of remaining term isnt likely they arent getting pesce or slavin and bean is very possible but i think you are thinking wayyyy to much on term right now its svechnikov for laine thats the highlight the rest is meant to fill the voids winnipeg needs filled i 100 percent think they take hamilton on the term he has left they will need him for the next few seasons for sure and its worth it at that point I think people think that everyone needs three 7 year deals for 1 potential 8 year deal but thats just not how it works or ever goes down.

I have to disagree about hamilton i think he is a great defenceman i have heard he has some dressing room issues but i take hamilton over faulk every single time and i agree 99 percent probably wont go to Winnipeg but you said it yourself he is a ufa at the end of the season if carolina isnt in a playoff spot i highly doubt he blocks a trade to a contender whether that be Winnipeg or not.

I have to disagree 100 percent I think tanev when actually healthy I know that parts a myth but still he is better defensively and edler is a way better 2 way defenceman than stecher and honestly even though i truly believe hughes is the future on this defence and will be the number 1 soon he isn't the best guy there yet and if he is we won't know till the season starts and he plays more than a couple of weeks.

Laine Shipped off to the Habs
The issue I have with this deal is that when weber was out of the lineup petry was the only consistent reliable dman against top lines i think as nice as this would be for the canadiens wing future it would hurt them in the now on defence. Besides that factor pretty solid deal all around.

I agree I think this deal wouldnt really benefit them granlund will get his share of time to prove himself. But with that being said the value is ok.

No not by any means if anything they slot down to more of a wildcard contender or just miss the playoffs team but I do think they could use some depth on the wings in the future and well lets see how things go in net for them.

I mean mete isnt meant to be a high end goal scorer for the record he is a stay at home defenceman.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Khalenix</b></div><div>Ok dude, allow me to bow to your superior intelligence. But I guess the future will tell! :)</div></div>
im not going to pick sides or nothing but the truth is karlsson had nowhere near the value chabot has simply cause of term and impact on ice chabot is 22 and the best dman on the team and under contract for a while longer most likely 8 more years after this and karlsson was on his way out was about to be a ufa and honestly not as good in his zone as i feel chabot will be no offence to karlsson his offensive impact is MASSIVE but chabot i feel is more responsible in his zone and who knows could end up being a better dman. There is more of course especially since chabot is the anchor to there rebuild on defence and trading him away would make it diffcult to replace.

All that remains to be seen is if Ottawa will actually pay them, but the White deal suggests they may be serious about winning with this core.</div></div>
Yeah i think the white deal solidifies what they have been trying to say for a while that they just wanted a fresh start not an in the playoffs one year out the other and that deal was a great place to start showing fans there commitment to a consistent future and getting brannstrom obviously helped last year helped there dcore for the future, this next draft should solidify the future long term.
