Habs don't need a player like Barrie, so if the only place you can send him is Montreal it's then a cap dump. I don't care what's his value.</div></div>

Yes I would assume MTL makes a deal that is tied to this, but it wouldn't be impossible

Barrie has surplus value to his contract, it's not a cap dump

This is a good team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jpsnow13</b></div><div>Edmonton fans say that EVERY year.
And every year they forget about the incapacity of their defence to defend, stay blind to their abyssal goaltending and overestimate the contribution of fringe players on their bottom 6.
Bottom line, they added Hyman and now have 4 good players. First round exit written on the wall. Again.</div></div>
Defending wasn’t their downfall in 2020-21. In 2019-20 only in the playoffs and largely because of injuries.
In 2020-21 The bottom six had something like 30% of goal share, being close to worst in the league and probably same the year before.

This is a good team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skyraider112</b></div><div>Forward group is definitely better. Hyman and Foegele bring energy and are good puck hounds. Waste of talent having Holloway play 4th line and Kassian in top 6. The D-core will put up goals but concede more, none of those D-men are known for their defensive play besides Keith (Sam could be but is unproven in NHL). Goaltending is still atrocious. Mike Smith is not the answer</div></div>
I see the roster being very fluid on the wings. I would assess as a whole. It’s interesting guys like Farabee and Necas both started down in the lineup. Don’t see it as a waste.
I could see this team securing a playoff spot then spending a 1st round pick on a pending UFA to bolster either G or D. As it is now, yea probably a 1st round exit, 2nd at best.

Koskinen will be the backup to send him down to save 1.1 Million and still have 1.5 million on the cap does not make sense. They will see how things go and 30 games in if the goaltending is bad they will make a move then or possibly the trade deadline.</div></div>

You can forget your pipe dream of him terminating (lol). Why on earth would he forgo that gift of a contract Chirelli gave him?</div></div>
That's true, to start this would not be the situation. I could see Stalock being more reliable though and if that's the case, MK being immovable, burying would be the only option.

They only have 1 goalie under contract right now.. and aren't competing any time soon. Get another 1st round pick out of it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Oilers21</b></div><div>I’m not disagreeing with you that Hyman is good but he’s not 7mil good with a flat cap he’s he might be 5 to 5.5 mil good flat cap but even that’s pushing it he is another guy that can play up and down your top 9. 7 mil is great defensively and score 30 + goals that’s not Hyman. And on your 4th line I understand how much time they play but 12 minutes with the wrong guys will break your game your telling me you’d play your 4th line against Winnipeg’s or Toronto’s or Washington’s or Boston’s or the islanders? My point is they would get ran out of the building just like what happened this year</div></div>
Yup, Hyman's so solid defensively, can play at a high speed tempo (unlike any other plugs we've put with CMD) and knows where to be around the net. I bet you with CMD he could pot 30, Patrick Maroon got 27 FFS. It also allows you to put Leon on L2 so that would make a huge difference for line matchups overall. 4th line versus 4th line these guys would be fine. Maybe -1 goal differential every two games. The top 3 lines would more than make up for that.
Boston 4th line: Sean Kuraly, Curtis Lazar, Chris Wagner...

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Oilers21</b></div><div>That is a massive over payment for hyman. That’s very expensive 3rd line centre and that 4th line it brutal they’ll get walked all over come playoff time.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>StonyOil</b></div><div>huge hyman overpay
korpi put up some of the worst GSAx numbers in the league, overpay for him too</div></div>
1) I watched a lot of Leafs games this year and he's such an effective player - if I had to choose between him and RNH I'd choose him. And the perfect fit for McD. Price here factors in that we would need to pay $1.5M> what Torontos max will be which id presume is $5.5M. Remember, Gallagher got $6.5M in late 2020 as well.
2) 4th lines average ~12 minutes a night, less in playoffs. Glendenning or a mix of players from L3 could balance things out if need be.
3) If I could change anything probably not Korpisalo here, need to look into goalie stats more.

Curious what you would counter with? I think the framework is there though, oilers have promising defense depth and boston has promising forward depth.

I think when you weight the value to cap hit, it’s not as far off. Boston defense looks very thin and Jones is very good. What I put is probably what Edmonton would offer so maybe need to meet somewhere in the middle.
Any counter proposal ideas?
