Trying to manage a 23 man roster with no trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuckLuck_77</b></div><div>For better asset management, if nothing changes, it might be probable that Byfield starts in the AHL and Kupari starts in the NHL due to waiver exemption status.
Also, it's all kind of moot if Arvidsson starts the season on IR.</div></div>
The original timeline was 3-5 months 2 months ago on Arvidsson so unless his recovery is on the longer end of that he should be available opening night.

Going after some unexpected goalies
Maybe Peterson's value is a 1st and 2nd atm. Quick was in some recent rumors more so than Peterson but Rob Blake told Friedman he want to keep the tandem the same next year. Expecting Quick to resign if he is starting in the playoffs next year.

Cap Space with Edler Signed
Since the limit of an offer-sheet with no compensation is 1.38 AAV durzi will get at least 1.4. MANY teams would take him at that price for free if the kings don't match.
Also Vilardi's QO is around 940K.
Besides those 2 things this is exactly what I have them doing next year. Hopefully no offer-sheets at 2.1AAV for Durzi.

Next year
I miss Muzzin being on the Kings but I think they are looking for an LD who is younger and fits the teams timeline long term. Walker is more likely to be moved than Roy imo.

Another Leafs Kings Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Random2152</b></div><div>Sandin is more valuable on his own than the entire package you offered (and you have toronto adding a 1st lol). LAs prospects are wilting on the vine and are rapidly losing trade value. Vilardi and Andersson are near worthless trade value wise (think Bracco), a mid to late 2nd is whatever, and Spence is merely an interesting piece (whom i like).
Sandin has legitimate potential and is already dominating his minutes. He has extraordinary value both to the Maple Leafs and as a trade piece. He is the future of the LD which is why so much stress is being wrought over his contract right now.</div></div>
Ok well I am not sure the leafs view him like you do, or maybe they really don't want to pay him what you think he is worth this offseason.

Care to elaborate? Do you think Sandin is more valuable than spence, do they not need cheap contributors in those positions, or do you think Vilardi and Spence won't be a factor for the leafs next year bc just being point per game players in the AHL as young players doesn't translate to the NHL?

I like all the contracts numbers. It might be worth an extra 250K-500K to sign Anderson to 5 or 6 years to line up with Doughty's contract. Kempe, Anderson, and Durzi gotta come back and play big roles next year.

One more big move this offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gretzkyghosts</b></div><div>Did you see this post:

Kings get 2023 2nd round pick (VGK) and 2022 4th round pick (BUF) Sabres get Iafallo, Walker, and 2023 3rd round pick (LAK)
Andersson does not move the needle but Jordan Spence or Walker would give Buffalo a RHD.
Iafallo would give Buffalo a really good defensive forward who has a scoring touch.
While the Sabres PK'ed by committee (10 players all PK'ed at least 0:30/gm and no one did more then 1:30/gm)they were not very good at doing it ranking 23rd in the NHL last year.
Make it Iafallo and Spence/Walker I would certainly be tempted to give up the 28th OA.
Skinner Thompson Tuch
Olofsson Cozens Quinn
Asplund Mittelstadt Iafallo
Krebs Girgensons Okposo
Or something to this effect</div></div>
I saw that one. The contracts were a little inaccurate and I've heard Vilardi would be moved instead of Kupari. I also felt the Iafallo/Walker trade would probably get you the 28th. Iafallo would definitely help out the PK and would be great on a shutdown 3rd line somewhere. IK the kings PK wasn't great but that was mainly because of a AHL defensive unit playing most of the season in the NHL.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Funksoljah</b></div><div>By all accounts next seasons sounds like another year of development. Guys like Okposo, Asplund, Thompson, Tuch and Girgensons will PK. I would also expect Granato to give some of the other guys time on the PK units to develop their game more.
Unlike several others here, I believe Adams will likely add another forward. However I think it's probably more of a 3/4C to replace Eakin. Top 6/9 wings are mostly set unless they move someone.
Skinner, Olofsson, Krebs on the LW. Tuch, Quinn, Okposo on the RW. with Asplund, and Peterka getting top 9 time as well, and possibly even Ruotsalainen.</div></div>
Thanks for clarifying! Iafallo could probably go to arizona or an Ottawa/New Jersey to make it work. Sounds like this would only happen if Eakin doesn't resign and Krebs moves to 3C.

What is the vibe in Buffalo this offseason? I thought Buffalo, New Jersey, and Ottawa would all be willing to move some picks to fill holes around good young players. Do you think they would move the 28th for Iafallo knowing that it would be unlikely to get a UFA like him without overpaying them and a lot/most M-NTC have buffalo on their lists?

the 16th might be a stretch but I think the FLA first for Iafallo and Lias would make sense. Iafallo would be a good all situations 2nd line winger for buffalo. Before he dislocated his shoulder he was on pace for a 25 goal 50 point season.

Marner moves to Center
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>Fair enough, but I don't think they need to move Tavares to the wing for that, putting Marner on his wing is probably the better option. Having Matthews and Marner on the same line from that perspective isn't great.
Nylander is under utilized in Tor, and it's because he takes nights off (and that seemed to affect Matthews when they played together). Hopefully, he's learning though, and perhaps he can be played with Bunting and Matthews.</div></div>
I agree with you about splitting up Marner and Matthews. They have all the pieces to make a great top 6 but need to find a way to make it work next year. I would try it both ways and go with whichever works best.

I wouldn't move him to the wing if the Leafs didn't have a potential selke level forward. This is more about Marner than Tavares.

There is no significant benefit in moving Tavares to the wing. A boost to his personal offensive stats does not trump his value in the circle.
Spezza's contributions to first possession off faceoffs will likely be missed. No need to add Tavares to the list.</div></div>
JT would still take faceoffs like JT Miller does for Petersson. Marner at this point is the superior defensmen and can skate with other top centers which Tavares failed to do last year. It worked for Messier and Draisaitl

True he did just have a career year and might want to lock in a 5-7 year 7.5+AAV contract. He would have to really like the idea of being in LA and the teams roster. I do think there are teams including the Kings would would go after Fiala and Sandin as RFAs this summer. both teams probably couldn't match 6.2 and 4.2AAVs respectively.

Kings might accept but might need Fiala to come down closer to 7AAV. Faber and Grans are the RDs with high defensive potential and might want to keep one of them. A Vilardi Spence and 2nd or 3rd might be a better trade with both immediately playing in the NHL for the Wild and the Kings still having 2 offensive RD prospects and 2 defensive RD prospects.

Grans is a great prospect but you do not want him playing in the NHL next year unless he takes a big jump forward this offseason. He was terrible in the AHL playoffs and his regular season points totals might not be a good indicator of his offensive skills atm. The Reign were a high powered offensive team with a swiss cheese defense by the end of the year.
