Harris and Kovacevic for Whalstrom is an interesting proposal. We have way too much LDs to trade for another one though. I'd skip the 3rd and Bolduc.

WILD CARD ATLEAST
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tommybarzy</b></div><div>The value isn’t horrible if DeBrincat signs long term, but the islanders are looking to add DeBrincat to their window, which Nelson is a huge part of. He’s a 40g, 70p caliber center who’s only gotten better with age. Trading him goes against Lou’s recent moves aiming at keeping open the islanders current window.
But if you’re deadset on a basis for a nelson-DeBrincat trade, this is a good offer that would make the islanders think.</div></div>
There are four teams I know about on debrincats list which are Detroit New York Dallas and Nashville. I don’t see anyone replacing Debrincats spot in ottawa on any of those teams that they would deal to ottawa. All I see is a pool of picks coming from those teams. I don’t think the islanders except this deal but it’s a good one to think about

Meier and JP
The Debrincat trade was a known 7OA position pick whereas the Isles 2023 1st is unknown. It will probably be a mid-to-late pick, so this isn't equal to that trade but then again it shouldn't because Debrincat is better than Meier, ignoring the small sample size of this season so far. I think his value is somewhere above Fiala but below Debrincat because SJ is not in the same cap situation as MN was with Fiala. I really think SJ will not be trading Meier or EK65 this year though it's fun to think about

Beau for Puljujarvi
If Beauvillier stays healthy, I would do that. Puljujarvi also looks lost on the ice. He’s not trying as hard, and not as aggressive as he should be as he is that big! I’ve always been a fan of Beauvillier, and maybe they could use a change of scenery. I’m down to keep Puljujarvi, but if you guys did this offer, or Minnesota offered Foligno, I would have to accept.

Not a bad idea, except for the Oilers potentially needing to keep Kane on LTIR until playoffs when he's probably going to be healthy 2 months before the post-season.

He’s a rental. No one has ever paid this for a rental at the deadline I wouldn’t even trade a 2023 first for him tbh. Two 2nds sure and a low end spec why not but not 2 firsts, a potential top 4 d man and a third line winger who’s making 2.5 for a Top 6 winger who’s a UFA at the end of the season NO THANKS that’s insane.

Isles
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tommybarzy</b></div><div>Puljujarvi is a dominant 2 way player who makes McDavid better, buying low on him to play with Barzal would be a smart move. https://twitter.com/zjlaing/status/1591097977204281345?s=46&t=A1C8FH7t_pWgwplUfQeGwQ
And Islanders need to add Räty to a Meier trade if they want any chance of beating out other teams like NJ and Holtz.
Räty is at minimum a year away from the NHL, and even when he makes it, he won’t have the immediate impact that Meier would have. Getting Barzal a 40G, 80P caliber winger before players like Nelson/Lee/JGP start their decline is IMO too good to pass up for the chance that Räty develops to a player of Meiers caliber down the road. (And I’m one of Räty’s biggest fans, I would hate to see him leave).</div></div>
Not to mention the typical prospect included on a Meier trade from the isles on this site is Dufour who to me is a boom or BUST player. I’m a shark fan and a little biased but I want Raty 1000x over Dufour.

I respect your opinions even though I disagree with them most of the time, but are you truly an Islander fan? Seems like you want to see us implode all the time :tearsofjoy
I like Wahlly, but he can literally only shoot the puck. Doesn't skate well, can't receive a pass to save his life or stick handle well. Still think he has plenty of room to grow but he's gotten time with Barzal and PP time. He hasn't totally gotten the Trotz treatment from Lambert either. Kid is just always in his own head

New York Swap
Maybe I'm being pedantic, but I'd retain $200K to make it a cash-even trade ($1.2M-$200K=$1M for Bellows/NYR; $800K+$200K=$1M for Gauthier/NYI).
In all honesty, though, if Bellows clears I keep him. Still no idea why they'd waive him and keep 32 (since apparently they didn't dress him against Reaves & NYR tonight) but greater minds than mine have failed trying to solve the Ross Johnston Problem
